Any tips on getting Naboo over his phobia of bathing? I give him a good spray every other day or so but he still refuses point blank to have a bath. i've tried smaller dishes, floating bits of food in - i've even showed him clips of birds on youtube! He is looking really scruffy, and i'm sure proper baths would help! |

Squeaks the same his idea of a bath is to get the feathers next to his beak wet  I do spray him or rather I spray his cage untill its dripping wet he will than rub himself all over the cage to get himself wet, you could try that Really they dont need to bathe as they preen themselves all the time, maybe he would like a dust/sand bath ? |

my pair are not bathers either I have to spray them. I've only ever seen them dip in their water a few times. |

Hmm... glad he's not the only one that refuses baths. I might try a dust bath - any ideas what i should use for this? I have a 'spoilt bird' confession... i do spray him untill he's really wet but as he will then do his dying bat impression (sliding upside down on the cage door, shivering, with his wings held away from his body drats ) i normally dry him off with the hairdryer on low... perhaps i should let him dry himself off naturally, and ignore the 'i'm all wet and cold!' routine! rasberry Edited by schmatalie, Jun 3 2009, 02:07 PM.

One way Andy got Boo to take a bath is to take her to the bathroom sink, cup his hands and let the water run like a trickle. Eventually, she got interested and now actually sits in his hands and soaks! She gets absolutely drenched. This might work, but don't expect instant results :) Spike bathes in his water dish and seems to enjoy that, Pesto hates water, so they're all different! |

Bigboy gets sprayed every day when I take a shower. Actually we play the spray and run game. I spray him, he flies away, then he comes running and screaming at the bottle and we repeat. I was shocked once I had a tray of water and he steped into it and began to drag his little birdie butt in the water and splash. He will do that about once every 6 months or so - with no rhyme or reason. So there is hope. I think when they get totally uncomfortable they will find a way to bathe and relieve themselves. Have patience. |
