Either newspapers or paper towels (kitchen rolls) if the cage is small.

I get them every week pushed through the letter box nobody bothers picking them up so I just take what I want. Most if not all of the UK get a free paper of one sort or other per week so it's very cheap cage lining :)

Between our guinea pigs and birds, we've found a use for the newspaper and the pets have a 52-week subscription.

I am allergic to the ink in newspapers so we use paper towels. They work for us and easy to clean up. wave
