Hello everyone

well we were all fine and fantastic until tonight. i came home from work as per and let Ica out of his cage, then went to talk to my daughter in the next room for 5 minutes, when i came back in Ica cannot fly properly- he is going all over the place, he fell behind the tv, behind the settee, then i got him and he didn't even bite me while i held him, just looked at me. i don't know if he has banged into something?

i have out him in a travel cage to stop him hurting himself and put him next to a radiator. i am going to see if he makes it thorough the night and ring the vets in the morning.

has anyone else any ideas how i can make him more comfortable?

I am SO upset and worried

It sounds like he could have banged into something and disorientated himself when you let him out. but it is very difficult to say as you were only out of the room for a few minutes ,you have done the best thing by keeping him quiet and warm, i hope he is ok in the morning , get him to the vets ASAP ,please keep us informed. Ica i will be thinking about you. :(

I'm so sorry to hear about Ica, Tracey! Did you say he was behaving normally before you went to talk to your daughter?

Keeping him in a small cage, with heat if possible, is best until you can get him to the vet.

Poor little one! I hope that he's doing alright and the vet can find the problem. It's always hard when a pet isn't feeling themselves.

Hello everyone

Ica is very poorly, he is at the vets, he collapsed and he seems unable to use his legs at all, it it most distressing to keep seeing him fall over. He has had some antibiotics and is on hourly observations. at first the vet thought he may have had a seizure of some sort, but now he is thinking it might be his kidneys, he has drunk the equivalent of us drinking 6 litres of water today! not eating, can't even support himself on a perch. vet said he rallied round a little this lunch but then when i went to spend some time with him, he just lay on my hand and kept closing his little eyes at the sound of my voice. his droppings are just water and i couldn't get him to eat any millet. they are monitoring him through the night and i have to ring tomorrow morning at 10.

will keep you all posted.

thank you so much for all your thoughts

Tracey
