I know this thread is a little dated but I've been away and I've only ever had a parrotlet, but am very interested in getting a budgie as they seem like slightly more docile parrotlets (roommates think that Mochi makes a lot of noise, so I won't trouble them with more birds, lol!)
But there is a hand-trained conure (I believe it's green cheeked but the sign wasn't specific) at a local pet store (I never thought hand trained and pet store went together) but he is so sweet, I will talk to him and coax him to see me and stick my finger in his cage and let him perch on me and he lets me scratch his head and I have complete adoration for this bird- however, it's $700CDN and I always tell him I'd max out my credit card for him but then I'd have no money for cage or for rent.

But if I could have any bird it would be him, provided I wouldn't need to get rid of Mochi hide

Hi birdgirl if your room mates think your Parrotlet is noisy they would hate a budgie, they chatter all day long from when they are uncovered until they are covered again at night.

Sometimes the only bird chattering and squealing is Spike and the two conures are totally quiet! Spike is really vocal and is usually making some noise all day, more like a budgie I guess!

The only birds i have making a noise continuously all day long, are the zebra finches, now you cannot beat them for noise, their might not be as loud as kermit , but their are consistant if nothing else but so cute :) :)

If you want quiet Parrot type birds I believe that linnies (linolated parakeets) are the quietest they just beep.

LOL!!!!

My Greys are relatively quiet. As far as screaming or obnoxious noises. They mainly just talk and whistle...my Macaw on the other hand.. drats drats

And Cricket can be a little chatter box at times but it's easy to "tune" it out!

Ha Ha too funny Gemmz I'm glad your telling us the facts so we don't get one rofl rofl rofl rofl . I think the Greys are one of the more quieter birds. They talk a lot and mimic noises but can actually live in apartment.
