Hello everyone.

I'm very new to the world of parrotlets, having just bought a pair this morning. Not new to keeping birds though, I've had several budgies (still have one), zebra finches (used to breed, now just have two), canaries (none at present) and doves (again, none at present). In addition we also have a dog (Samoyed) who gets insanely jealous if I spend too much time talking to the birds - he just has to wait until I've finished though smug

The main site has already given me some good information, and I'm looking forward to chatting with other 'birdy' folk....

Have fun, John

Hello everyone and thanks for the warm welcomes

Must admit I haven't named them yet (they're a boy and girl btw), but I reckon I should have names for them soon enough. No photo's yet either, I'm going to leave them a couple of days to settle down properly before I start pointing a ruddy great camera at them. They're both this colour though nod2

At the moment they're slowly exploring their new home, usually from the topmost perch partially hidden by a cuttlefish - correction, one has just decided to take an upside-down walk along the roof of the cage.... I like to breed from my birds, but since these are from the same clutch I will not be going that route this time. Maybe in a couple of years' time when I've learned more about parrotlets, but that is not certain at this point.

As for a photo of the pooch, all too happy to oblige :)

Thank you all for your kind remarks about my dog (and his tongue giggle ). That was an extreme 'grab shot' hence the overall slight blurring, but I think it's just great rofl

As for keeping his fur clean, Samoyeds (his name is Red btw) are known for shedding any dirt almost as soon as it dries - I just try to make sure he doesn't go for a swim in my pond very often  A couple of hours grooming each weekend keeps everything looking good, but please don't ask me about those times when he has an upset tummy and needs his rear end washing :scared:
