Hi all, as is seems today I noticed on my parrotlets eye it was red underneath (where the white is around the eyes). It is only on one eye. It def was not there all morning it happened mid afternoon. I called the bird vet today but their office was closed will try again tomm!! Has anyone had this happen? The bird is showing no sign at all it hurts or bothers him, he is flying around, playing, biting, doing everything he does all day long with no rest!! I have thought it might be dye from his perch. Right before I noticed his eye he was taking a bath in his water dish and if something touches his pirch when wet the red dye rubs off a bit. So I was thinking he might have scratched his head against it or it got on his feet and he itched his eye area? Most likely the is probably not true but I like to think positive :( It is not in the eye at all, like I said only around it where the white part is. It is not puffy or crusty or anything and its a tiny bit on his feathers in that area too. Anyone have any ideas? Should I be worrying as much as I am? Thank you :) |

i actually think it might be a bruised/black eye. i think he fell off something and hit it. i was petting him today and caused him no pain. it seems to be a gray/purple color today so i think its healing up. anyone else have a bird with a bruised eye? |

I'm wondering if maybe he broke a blood vessel. Were you able to get in touch with your vet? |
