The only candles I burn are in the master bathroom if i'm in the tub! I use the thing you put a tea light on the bottom and the was chunks ontop to melt.

In the rest of the house... i use the simmering pot on the stove. And this time of year... lots of bags of cranberries chucked in the freezer for the rest of the year!

I use beeswax candles but boy they aren't cheap! So it's a treat when we do use them. Gail, you're right about the wicks but only the ones that have the metal in the center. So if you do use candles, make sure they are plain cotton wicks or wax coated wicks.

We do enjoy burning scented candles, but with nod2 Frodo part of the family, those are out. I'd love it if there was 100% for-sure certain positive evidence that the soy candles were completely safe for parrotlets but even then I think I'd feel nervous burning one since the effects can be so quick.

Yes I would not want to find out the hard way they weren't safe :(

We don't burn wood in our fireplace anymore, we were going to use gas & fake logs but the gas has a slight leak when I turn it on so that's out also. I actually bought a gas/CO2 detector that is in the living room just to be on the safe side (for our safety as well as the birds).

No more Teflon pans in our kitchen, steel only. Laura parks her car on the driveway because the breeder birds are in the garage nodding

We've had to make quite a few lifestyle adjustments but it's worth it 2.gif

How true.. we have a gas fireplace and it won't ever get turned on. I just would hate to risk it. Fortunately the pots and pans are all the 18/10 steel or we'd have to buy a new set now that we have Frodo.
