Oh Rhea that's so terrible, I'm so sorry. I know you loved your new little buddies. :( Do you have an avian vet you can go see? Maybe you should get Krrish checked out just in case. Try to keep him calm, I guess, or try to distract him. I'm so so sorry for your loss. |

Yes you need to take Kushi to the vet to determine why she died. I'm so sorry to hear this terrible news crying crying You just have to be sure that it wasn't an illness that your other baby could get. |

I'm so sorry for your loss.. so sad :( I agree with the other posts, you should probably have Krish checked out. The vet may be able to look at Kushi's body to know what happened without a necropsy. After, I would put Krrish in either a smaller cage or partially cover the one he's in and add a small heat lamp at one end. It will keep him warm and a bit more secure. *hugs* *edit* I just read your thread on you getting this pair just this saturday. Did you get them from a breeder or shop? You need to have an avian vet see Kushi to determin the death. If it was accident, you may be able to get another at a discounted price (i offer that) and if the death was caused from illness, you need to get reimbursement for the bird and your medical costs for exams on both birds and care for the remaining one. How old are the pair? If babies, were they fully weaned and eating/drinking properly? Edited by BUUZBEE, Nov 18 2008, 08:28 PM.

Do what the others have said but also ring the people you got them from and tell them, you only got them at the weekend so speak to the breeder first. |

I am so so sorry to read this... This "breeder" is disgraceful. Are they planning on reimbusing you? I can see if they went from the inside to the outside, they would have more of a shock, but to come inside to the warmth of your home... HMMMM seems fishy if you ask me. Were they showing any signs of heat distress, wings up or panting? Don't know if you saw my other questions, were they young and fully weaned? |

I;m so sorry that now you have lost them both. Keep the bodies in the refrigerator in a container until you can get them to the vet tomorrow. It's vey important that you take them to the vet for a necropsy. It doesn't add up that both of them have died so suddenly.....you must find out what made them die. Thebreeder may be a bad breeder with sick birds and if so you don't want any more of his birds. But the main thing is if they have something wrong you may need to do certain things before you can bring any new bird into your home. I'm so very sorry for your loss my heart goes out to you and your family

Oh Rhea, that's so sad crying crying crying crying crying crying There's something wrong here, as the others have said, just moving them inside would not cause this. Something else is wrong. You should get your money back as they must have had something wrong from the start. We had a little boy (Biff) die within 2 days of us getting him, the breeder gave us another little boy (Bertie) but he also died about a month or so after we got him. We had an autopsy done on Bertie just in case he had a disease that could have been passed to our other birds, but it was epilepsy they think. We still don't know why Biff died so soon, but I would definitely get Kushi autopsied if you can afford it. If it was an accident in the cage it's possible that Krrish died because his mate was gone although it seems unlikely as they were really too young to be bonded very much. If it was some disease or hereditary illness, then the breeder should know & also needs to compensate you. If it is a disease, then you need to know before you get any other birds. Once again, this is terrible news & my heart goes out to you crying crying crying crying crying     |

OMG. I've just replied to your p.m. from a few days ago, and now i read this. I'm so sorry for you, this is tragic. You sounded so pleased to get them too. I hope you get to the bottom of why this happened. Don't let this put you off getting another parrotlet though, as they're mostly quite hardy birds. If you do decide to get more, I cannot recommend Tracy and Sue from Newport enough, as will anyone else who have dealt with them on here. My sympathies, Neil. Edited by neil29, Nov 19 2008, 06:15 PM.
