I heard some strange noise from the boing yesterday afternoon and looked up to see Frank and Sky at it. he had one foot on her back and his wing around her pulling her towards him and their beaks were touching. normally budgies just stand on the back of the female.they were not touching anywhere else though so nothing will come of this mating.
Another strange thing they did was go into HER box together, normally any one entering tthe box gets attacked so maybe they are trying for eggs

No these are not having babys !!!!!! as they are not mating correctly for one and if it looks to much like they are getting there I will remove her box. she sleeps in it to get away from the boys. They are all over three and haven't done any thing yet so I doubt they will

Ha, ha! love is in the air!! They must sense something going on with the parrotlets, or maybe just a coincidence??

I've seen the wing thing when budgies are mating, Kev, have you? One foot on the back of the female and then one wing comes down around the side of her. Sounds like they are practicing!!

I have never seen them do this before Laura, I have seen him stand on her back but he's such a big oaf that he flattened her and he wasn't allowed on again. they are nowahere near mating as he had his cochlea rubbing the top of her leg  most of the time the other two butt their little heads in and stop them, budge is the main one to do this.
If it does look like its getting to hot I will remove her and the box, well what's left of the box as she has nearly eaten the door and its starting to fall apart :)

Ohhhh I bet they get it right, when the cat is away, the mice will play! LOL

Be careful, with the box there, it will put her in breeding mode, especially if she's mating. Budgies have a tendency to keep laying if the box is not there, so if you dont want eggs, you should probably remove it. I've had hens that will drop a good 10 eggs, and i actually have to seperate them from their mate to get them to stop! :(
