Why are there so few breeders?; Struggling to find North West breeders!!

I'm really struggling to find a reputable (well any really) breeder in the North West area. I want a hand reared bird, so that pretty much rules out pet shops. I know of the superb place down in South Wales talked about on here, but I don't fancy transporting a baby nearly 200 miles in my noisy works van! Why the hell aren't more breeders interested in parrotlets? I'm willing to travel a reasonable distance, but I'm getting no-where in my search. Can any of you guys help me out here? Cheers, Neil.

I wish I could help you Neil, but I'm in the States. I'll try to find out where Nikki & Tracey got their babies from (they're both around Manchester if that's any good).

blue2 Hello Neil29.. Im in mid Wales...
If you find a really good pet shop..
Im sure you'll find one that has P-lets..
I bought my 1st two from Newport where
everyone is talking about..Really good birds.. excellent
after care...Why not email Tracy and Sue and see
what they suggest..

Here's their web site with all info
http://www.parrothouse.zoomshare.com/

My 3rd P-let I had just two weeks ago..
It was from a pet shop.. I was in looking for birdie stuff..
saw the p-let.. just fell in luv with him.. found out who the breeder was..
And bought the bird there and then..
I must say he is great...I went by look and attitude of the bird..
I hope this has been some help to you..
Tracy and Sue's birds are use to car travel...
Good Luck Jan

I aint much closer mate. West Midlands. I do know few breeders crewe and preston way, but I dont think they hand rear. I will try and find out for you if you like... Another option if you can make it is Stafford show, there will be breeders there who may have some for sale..

You should talk to Sue or Tracey, if you don't mind the long trip I think the baby will be fine. Although it's good that you're concerned, you'd be surprised how resilient they are nodding As long as it has food & water I'm pretty sure it would enjoy the trip, especially if it can see out the window giggle
