We cover all our birds at night. It seems to help them feel more secure and warmer in the winter too. Keeps them quieter in the mornings than if we don't cover. :)

Mine are covered at night too, in the summer I use a sheet and in the winter I use a blanket.

I don't cover my birds. I think it's a choice you have to make that is best suited to your situation. Cricket goes to bed on his own every night at 8:00 pm...so I really don't have to cover him. :)

I put my two into a smaller cage for night
then cover leaving the front open
like a cocoon..
Keeps all the drafts off them all night long.

Most of us seem to cover our birds, but as Gail says, you really don't have to. In the wild they're not covered, but sometimes it does help them spend a peaceful night.

I'd say the same as the others, whatever works for you nodding

Jan, what you do is a good idea as it helps them stop being so cage territorial 0163951

Yes, tree tops are drafty rasberry but all of the outdoors is one big draft. The way I've understood the draft thing is that if a bird is in a controlled environment in your house, then a sudden change in temperature could be bad, as in an open window letting in cold air. nodding

Yes Laura your absolutely right, when we bring them into a controlled environment that we live in a draft especially a cold one can be fatal to them.
