wasn't sure where to put this? I was wondering if anyone would like to post their recommendations for bird related books? i thought a list of practical guides on birdcare would be useful... but also some other related titles? i'll get the ball rolling: since i've kept birds i've been fascinated with how their minds work, so "why does my bird do that?" by Julie Rach Mancini has been really useful in understanding why they behave as they do. i've also just finished reading "Corvus" by Esther Woofson. It's a lovely account of her life with a tame rook, called chicken!. Some of it goes off into science, about the formation of feathers and things, but the anecdotes about her bird keeping are wonderful. I definately want a rook now... or a magpie! |
