Most experts agree that the only reason to get another p'let is because you want one, don't get one as a companion bird as p'lets are fine on their own. Don't worry about his reaction to losing the mirror, if you are spending quite a bit of time with him now he will soon get over it. If you're leaving him on his own a lot then he needs lots of toys. If you are leaving him on his own, why would you want another p'let? Each case is different, but generally if the bird is very bonded to you first, it probably won't lose that bond completely but it will more than likely bond with the other bird more. We had Boo Boo for about 6 months or so & she was totally bonded to me. When we got Pesto, they were kept in separate cages for a while & we gradually brought them together. They are in the same cage now & get on fine but they're not really bonded to each or me now. I can handle them both & they're both very tame, but as I said, Boo Boo has lost some of her bond with me. |
