California My name is Andy	As Kevin said, it's going to take some time. Just because you leave the door open for an hour or two & he doesn't come out, doesn't mean he never will. It may take days before he will come out. As I said, it has to be fun for him & it may take some time for him to realize this. Of course, there is the very slim chance that he might never be ok, but I think that's highly doubtful. He might never be fully tame, but you should be able to get to the point where you can handle him without a problem.
