Hi Karen, sorry I must have missed your posting somewhere... Where are you from again? I do have some on eggs, but hatching is along way off...
I am of the old school and a firm believer in birds having birdie mates, not as in breeding partners but as a friend. I understand your thinking on same sex pairs, this can (not always as I will endevour to explain) have a few problems.. I bought a lutino hen hand tame and 11 weeks old from someone I knew. He also had her sister who was parent reared. I ended up having both, with the intentions of using the parent reared one for breeding. When I got them home I popped them both in the same cage so they could settle in. When I tried to put the parent reared one in with a cock bird, she attacked him, so I removed her and put her sister in with the cock bird. She sat and sulked and wouldnt eat. So had to remove her too. These two have now been inseperable for nearly a year. Both are no good what so ever for breeding but are the best of mates.
I dont know how two cock birds would be together or if another pair of hens would be like these two are..
Good luck in your search for a baby and let us know how you get on :)
