NOX: Well I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Kurt!
The sound of Joey NOX's voice cuts through like a knife, our hearing touching down first as the camera fights to give us a fair visual of whatever it is we're supposed to be seeing. We're in some sort of a range, the room empty and the sound echoing as NOX speaks. Joey's standing so close to the camera that it almost feels like he's trying to block something out. After weeks of being so conflicted and emotionally torn, it's a change of pace for Joey NOX. He looks calm and composed, a big smile on his face. He's dressed well (!) in a nice looking polo shirt with some respectable slacks. His hair is done and not some scraggled mess and there's an air of confidence about him. The proverbial "aura and glow" of a man who is feeling it exudes as Joey casually shrugs his shoulders and gets back to talking in his best tone of voice.
NOX: I know I told you there'd be an answer soon and while dissing you and dunking on you in written form was fun? Well I owed you more. I owe the fans more! I had plans to do a big talkathon but sometimes? Sometimes the world works best when you're just direct. As you know this is one busy weekend for us here in the United States, it's Father's Day weekend! It's a time to celebrate the Dads who raise us up and the moms who took on both gigs to ensure that we never go wanting in lives. Unfortunately for some of us? It's a holiday with a truly different meaning and it ain't a good one. I thought I'd be able to get this message out to you sooner but...
With a bit of a sigh, Joey NOX casually steps to the side. There behind him is Tsukishima Shadow, the White Witch Hall of Famer. She looks as she always looks; one part old, one part younger than she is, one part depraved and one part decadent. She gives the camera a little smile and seeing her without her warpaint on so to speak almost humanizes her. Slightly. Joey gives her a smirk and then talks, his attention entirely on her and not on the camera behind him.
NOX: Sometimes some things are bigger than just me.
With a smirk shared between the two, Joey NOX turns back to the camera. He shakes off that little moment and resumes speaking, his voice back to that bouncy level of energy.
NOX: Anyways Kurt, here I am! Back in front of the camera to deliver one may be my final message yet. I know there's a big part of you that probably feels like I've just been stalling but believe me! There's nothing I'd want more than to just be direct and lay it allout on the line. The problem with that approach is that I didn't know what I wanted! In many ways I still don't know! I've never been the kind of guy who was at a loss for words but I guess it's a new year and a new me for real. The choice to risk life and limb vs the choice to live as a coward is never an easy one even if I believe I knew the answer from the start. Knowing the reality and embracing it though? Two different concept! This isn't an easy choice for me, Kiddo! It's not something I've taken lightly.
Joey momentarily peeks at Tsukishima who is waiting for some sort of a cue. Joey NOX gives her a nod and Tsukishima begins to set up or ready for something. Ever the pro, Joey NOX talks and stands so that you can't quite see Tsukishima nor can you truly focus on her either. With the attention divided, NOX speaks and delivers his next talking point amid the sounds of Tsuki's shuffling.
NOX: That said? It's time. You want to know something, Kurt? Summerfest is a loaded up show with nine big time matches on it. Nine big ones! There is not going to be room for one more, am I right? Well good!
Tsuki's "Ready, Joseph" draws NOX's eyes away from the camera and back at her. He steps away and now we see what Tsukishima Shadow was up to. While Joey was speaking, Tsukishima was preparing a bow and arrow. Under normal circumstances for normal people, Tsukishima Shadow armed would be something that would send a man running. Given the likelihood that this isn't the first time NOX has lived this rodeo, all he does is look over her form and then sneakily walk over and arch up her elbow somewhat. Tsuki shoots him a look, readjusts her arm the way SHE had it and squints. With Tsuki aiming her bow and arrow at something. The camera man fights to get into the position to see what it is and as he approaches, Tsukishima Shadow lets the arrow fly! The arrow whizzes through the air at a high rate of speed and STICKS----right into the face of a Kurt Kiddo photo! There hung up is a handmade sign that reads Joey NOX vs Kurt Kiddo at Summerfest! Smack dab in the middle of the sign is the Kiddo face which Tsukishima Shadow presses the button to wheel in closer. As Tsukishima goes to retreat the poster, Joey NOX talks in his best hype man voice possible.
NOX: Because I'm coming for a fight. You and me, Kurt Kiddo! You wanted your answer and there you go! No games! No long winded speeches! Just the open and honest truth! I've got a ticket to Portland FIRST CLASS and you? If you're willing to show up for it?
Now Joey's smile slowly fades. He gets serious and the mood has clearly changed. For the past three months now Joey NOX has been playing catch up vs an opponent he never asked for in a match he never wanted. He's battled his own mentality and braced his mortality with each passing day, fighting through injury just to get here. Everything Kurt Kiddo has done to him rushed through his brain, further pissing him off as he stands there. Tsuki returns with the sign and an annoyed Joey NOX wraps this one up.
NOX: You have got a ticket to getting your ass beat.
Tsukishima Shadow, smoothlessly trampling over his wrap up: I forgot how good I was at this. Thanks for inviting me out here, Joseph! I can't wait to show Emily how good this one was!
NOX: Well for once? I'm glad you hit a bullseye.
Tsukishima Shadow: Would you like me to explain what happens to a person if hit in this exact spot?
NOX: How about you and I just get ready to fly out for the biggest damn show of the year?
Joey throws his arm around Tsukishima Shadow, truly expecting to get punched judging by his cringe. Instead Tsuki pulls his arm in, gives him a nod, holds her bow tightly in her other hand and the duo walk off together for one long messy flight to Portland. For Summerfest!
