Graves,

I saw your latest outburst about being ready for you, about how you honestly believe that I, one of the most dedicated and astute professionals to have ever graced this company; a man that has such an OCD-like quality and photographic memory when it comes to long-held grudges, would overlook you and be taking it quite-unquote “easy”.

Trust me, motherfucker. I’m not taking it easy or overlooking you in the least, but you, dearest part-timer-looking-for-renewed-relevancy, are overlooking me.

But that’s not the point of this letter.

I’m writing you this letter, if you must know, from the 5th hole at Shinnecock Hills where I’m watching the US Open with my kids and my girlfriend as an early Father’s Day gift. It might be a complete break if the Fourth Wall and the image people like to cultivate of me, but life is actually pretty good right now. Besides your punk-ass? I have nothing to brood about.

That doesn’t mean I’m working any less. Don’t let the vacation day and golf outing fool you.

You see, our job as a professional wrestler is very much akin to the job of a screenwriter. And much like a screenwriter, you cannot accept criticism in this line of work. Sure, it may make you feel good or bad, mostly because you are the person most. Loosely connected to the body of work, but you can’t accelt the criticisms and take them to heart.

In terms of a screenwriter, 99.9 percent of people will never read the script. They’ll only see the final body of work that by then? Has gone through so many hands and so much modification that you,ll never seen the monumental body of work it took to get the “script “ off the ground. Most people will never see the hours of work, honing your craft or the months of self-edit, they’ll just see the finished movie and try to judge you based off that.

Wrestling is much the same, Graves. People make the mistake of seeing the finished product, but they don’t take the time to look behind that and see the years spent going from town to town, all the strategizing or planning before matches, the grind of going from podunk place to podunk place and the time you put in the gym to remain elite. People like you, Graves, will do what you have accused ME of doing and OVERLOOK the work out in for some facile, easy and quite honestly, regurgitated and bullshit narrative:

“Alex doesn’t work hard enough anymore. He overlooks opponents. He doesn’t show up anymore.”

Mothetfucker, I’ve been here most every show for damn near a decade, and have put in more time and work than 90 percent of the roster. There is only a handful of people whoever worked as hard as me and NOBODY has ever outworked me.

On the contrary, where the fuck you been, Graves? How hard have you worked? Because if we’re going by the same forced and contrived narratives you see fit to lay out to public, one could say you’ve been a fucking ghost for the past few years. You took your mall and went home. You didn’t help the brand when it was struggling. You sure as hell didn’t show ase a Hall If Fane pedigree when this place needed you, and the only thing PRE saw if you, Mr. “Hall of Fame”...was your shadow.

Consider this your Pusha-T moment, Graves.

Your narratives are old and tired. I’ve heard it before and none of your bats or verbiage is different from any of the 30 dudes who have said it before you. Meanwhile, the concrete truth is that you left at your “height” and never proved anything of a legacy and you’re coming back here years later like you still own the place when the fact is? You’ve been usurped. You don’t run game around here. And you’re talking tough, but I would put $100 cold on anybody on My roster taking your ass out if you didn’t run off again when things got the slightest bit difficult.

You’re an Advincola with greasy hair and a leather vest.

The difference between me and you is I know my truth and you’re still chasing yours. I don’t have anything to prove because my name is the PRW definition for “legacy” and “royalty”. You? You can’t even say the fucking words without getting side-eye.

I’m taking your ass out at Summerfest. I’m making an example of you. I’m hanging your head on a spike and planting it like a flag in the middle of the locker room.

There’s your new narrative, Graves. I’m giving you one to really sink your teeth into:

The gloves are off. I’m not toying with you. You went and did it, and you pulled that venom out of me again. I don’t like being that dude anymore. I’ve grown beyond being that dude now. But for you? When you draw that ire, that passion and I can taste that hatred that makes me bite my lip to the point my lip bleeds and I taste the iron and get the urge to kick your head clean-the-fuck-off?

I’m still THAT dude.

You’re going to get your fucking head kicked in.
