The cameras fade back in from commercial and focus in on the titantron as a giant advertisement for Summerfest illuminates for the entire arena to gaze upon it. The screen quickly changes as the opening notes of The Resistance by: Skillet begin to play throughout the arena, accompanied by a brand new entrance video for The Roenicks. Rachel steps through the curtain first, dressed in a stunning red dress, much to the approval of the audience, especially the men who come to their feet and applaud. James steps out behind his wife, dressed in a black suit, white shirt, and red tie, receiving a similar amount of fanfare, however from the ladies rather than the guys. Rachel and James turn to each other and chuckle at the reactions before linking hands and raising their arms atop the ramp which garners one unified applause from the crowd at Riot.
--- Josh Brunswick --- “They are back! In what can be called a special attraction, James and Rachel Roenick have returned to PRW here on Riot!”
--- Doug Smith --- “The crazy thing is the Roenicks have become a special attraction. I remember when James debuted, the dude tried to get himself on every single segment just to get noticed. ”
--- Josh Brunswick --- “What’s even crazier is next month will mark 12 years in PRW for James Roenick. But we heard him on The Today Show, he is not focused on his past, but on his future.”
--- Doug Smith --- “I would do the same thing if I were him. I mean he hasn’t had the greatest past here in PRW. ”
As Josh and Doug continue to banter back and forth, James and Rachel have entered the ring and now stand in the center, equipped with a microphone.
--- James Roenick --- “Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for that amazing response. I’m pretty sure the men cheered louder for Rachel than the ladies did for me but I can’t blame them. I mean look at her. But that isn’t why we are out here. I know you guys didn’t pay to listen to people talk so I promise not to take up too much time, but I just wanted to come out here and talk about something near and dear to both Rachel and I, and that’s Summerfest”
James points up to the titantron and points to the giant logo.
--- James Roenick --- “So now that I’ve pointed, I can say that I’m officially going to Summerfest! But in all seriousness, Summerfest is the biggest show of the year and I am beyond grateful that I have been medically cleared to get back in the ring at Summerfest. PRW Management has yet to reveal who my opponent will be but they said it will be a match worthy of Summerfest. And it was that line that got me. A match WORTHY of Summerfest.”
James turns towards the camera in the ring, looking straight down the lens.
--- James Roenick --- “It was that one line that really got to me. The James of old would have taken that as an insult. I would have come out here and talked about how PRW Management didn’t think I was worthy of a Summerfest match. I would have claimed conspiracy. But in my mature age, I realize that they were doing what they had to do in order to provide you fans the best show possible. And with the state of mind and the attitude I had, I didn’t deserve a spot on Summerfest.
Let me take you all on a quick trip down memory lane. In July, it will mark 12 years in this organization. 12 years of big matches, moments, championships, and a Hall of Fame induction to cap it all off. But if you look through the history books, you only see my name 3 times at Summerfest.
2008, I wrestled one of my all time favorite opponents Twin K inside of a steel cage that underwhelmed the audience and sent me into ‘retirement’. In 2014, I nearly killed myself trying to destroy Jesse Drive in one of our many wars, only to get attacked by Travis Levitt and The Asylum. My life was falling apart and I was literally killing myself trying to cope with it all.
And then there is 2009, Madison Square Garden, and a main event World Championship Match with Hutton Brown. This should be my crowning moment. This should be THE match that defines me. But it isn’t. Don’t get me wrong, I am honored to have been the Undisputed Champion of the World. I loved the match with Hutton. He is one of my favorite people on the planet. But the second that the bell rang and the official handed me the championship, I instantly regret all of it. 2009 marks the start of my downfall which has taken me almost 9 years to come back from. 9 years of my life trying to prove myself to the crowd and to the wrestlers in the back. 9 years of trying to prove myself to me.
Through lying, cheating, and deception, Rachel and I formulated a plan to make the whole world think that we were over. From Room 810 to Summerfest, the world thought I had lost it all. In addition, I was being stalked and trying to focus on a World Title match. Long story short, when Rachel revealed herself as the stalker, and the plan came together, I thought I had it all, but I really had nothing. To make matters worse, I sold my soul to the devil himself that night. The final shot from Summerfest is myself standing arm and arm with Jason Garrick. The same man who curb stomped my wife, now stood beside us as the final piece to our master plan to claim the championship. ”
James stops to take a deep breath.
--- James Roenick --- “So here’s the million dollar question, was it all worth it? Simply put, the answer is no. In 2008 I made a fool of myself in an angle that made no sense and almost ruined my career. 2014 is honestly just a blur because of messed up mentally and psychologically I was. And 2009, my ‘crowning moment’ led me down the path in which I embarrassed myself, PRW, the championship, and most importantly the fans. So all though my record may be 2-1, I’m really 0-12. This will be my 12th Summerfest and I have yet to have a match or a moment I can look back on with no regrets. Well that changes this year.
Just like I said on The Today Show, I am back with one goal and that is to right the wrongs I perpetrated. And that isn’t exclusive to the Undisputed Championship. That is still my number one goal, but I have miles to go before I get to that match. Before I can have my proper championship reign, I need to have a proper Summerfest match. A match I can be proud of. A match my daughter can be proud of. A match my son would have been proud to watch. So PRW Management, I don’t care who it is. I don’t care what spot on the card it is. I just want it to be WORTHY of being on the card. And that goes not just for my opponent but for me. I claimed that I am still The Perfect One, and now it’s time to back it up. So at Summerfest, I have no choice but to win. I have no choice but to prove my worth to this place once again. I have no choice but to prove once and for all that You can’t stop perfection…….
And you can’t stop me!”
Just as James drops the microphone……he is interrupted by music blaring through the speakers.
With one last wave to the crowd, JR and Rachel began to make their way out of the ring when suddenly some all-too-familiar music blares throughout the arena.
Roenick’s heart sinks into his chest as he looks up at the entrance ramp, the surprise on his face undeniable. Sure enough, Jason Garrick emerges onto the stage as the crowd quickly becomes restless. Garrick is casually dressed tonight in a pair of dark faded jeans, a plain t-shirt, and a black zip-up jacket. His steely glare immediately meets the eyes of his rival from over a decade ago.
Smith:"It's Jason Garrick! What a shock!"
Brunswick swallows nervously and quickly hides his iPad from view.
After a moment, Garrick cocks his head to the side as his wife and partner-in-crime, Chelsey Lynn Garrick, emerges from the back as well.
Smith:"And Chelsey's here too! She's still just as stunning as I remember her, Brunswick!"
Again Brunswick is silent. He unwittingly rubs his cheek, no doubt remembering his last encounter with Chelsey as well.
Looking as gorgeous as ever, Chelsey is dressed in a form-fitting black dress [visual] that easily rivals Rachel's own choice of clothing here tonight. She walks over to her husband's side and peers down at the Roenicks still standing in the middle of the ring. Apparently unimpressed judging by the look on her face, Chelsey turns her attention to Jason. She places one hand on his shoulder and the other on the side of his neck, before planting her lips on her husband's for all to see.
Smith:"Well it seems the Garricks' marriage is still going strong. What a lucky man Jason is."
Brunswick:"Yeah good for them. I want to know what they're doing here. Its been nearly 2 years since we saw either of them in PRW."
The Garricks finish their display and together make their way down to the ring. Rachel glances at James nervously. He gives her a reassuring nod and steps in front of her, firmly placing himself between her and the man who at one time made their lives a living hell in PRW. Garrick notices this as he approaches, a small smirk escaping from his face. Finally, he steps into the ring, Chelsey following closely behind. Garrick continues to lock eyes with Roenick for several more moments, the story between these two men filling the air between them. Chelsey walks over and grabs a microphone from a member of the tech crew on the outside, sneering at Rachel Riot along the way. She returns to Garrick's side and hands the mic to him with a smile. Garrick graciously accepts the gift and waits for the crowd noise to die down a bit before finally speaking.
Garrick:"Well well, its been awhile, hasn't it JR?"
Roenick says nothing but remains on guard, knowing full well what the man standing only a few feet away from him is capable of.
Garrick:"Or do you prefer to go by James Roenick now?"
Roenick remains silent.
Garrick:"I think I'll just continue to call you JR. Honestly its hard to break old habits when the man standing before me went by JR Judy for the majority of his career before deciding a name change was in order."
Roenick allows himself a small smile and cautiously brings his own mic back up.
Roenick:"Hey whatever works for you. Its all the same to me Spardis."
Long-time fans in attendance chuckle in response as James returns the jab, referring to Garrick by his former ring name as well. A flash of irritation escapes Garrick's face before he manages to collect himself.
Garrick:"Glad to hear it JR, because now that I look at you, you seem like a completely different person. Hell, the last time I saw you, you had a striking resemblance to Stone Cold Steve Austin, but with a fraction of the talent."
The fans response in kind. Roenick continues to smile.
Garrick:"Even with the new look, I have to say... I still don't see what the big deal is."
Garrick waves his hand in front of his face, mimicking the gesture of a well-known persona within the industry. Roenick himself can't help but chuckle a little bit as well.
Roenick:"Well hey, at least I didn't base the majority of myself off of Randy Or----"
Garrick:"HEY! You shut your mouth!"
Garrick manages to cut off Roenick before he can completely break the fourth wall. Roenick grins in response as the crowd continues to eat it up.
Roenick:"Hey? HEY!"
Unable to help himself, James whips out the following pose.
The crowd is now rolling. Anger is strewn across Garrick's face.
Garrick:"I-I don't do that! Enough! Enough of this! I didn't come out here to be mocked!"
Chelsey places on hand on Garrick's chest, attempting to calm him down. Roenick allows himself one more chuckle.
Roenick:"Then why are you out here Garrick? Because frankly you're starting to bore me."
Garrick:"Oh, am I boring you? Let's get straight to the point then. You want to know who your opponent at Summerfest is?"
Garrick walks up to Roenick, the two of them now only inches apart.
Garrick:"You're looking at him."
The onlooking crowd nearly jump out of their seats. The familiar Yes! chants began to break out in response.
Brunswick:"What a monumental announcement! Roenick versus Garrick at Summerfest?!"
Smith:"Who would've thought we'd ever see these two titans square off in that ring again Brunswick? This is huge news!"
Brunswick:"It surely is, but I can't help but wonder how its even possible. Last time Garrick was in PRW, he was attempting to seize away control of the company. I can't imagine Mr. Bucks would ever consider hiring him again after that."
Smith:"The boss obviously knows what's 'best for business' Brunswick. A match of this caliber is sure to sell!"
Back in the ring, Roenick and Garrick are still face to face. All of the humor has faded from JR's face, now replaced with deadly seriousness.
Garrick:"Yeah, not so funny anymore, is it?"
Garrick takes a step back, allowing Roenick some breathing room for the time being.
Garrick:"But hey I'm sure you JR, like a lot of the people in the crowd, are probably wondering how exactly this came about? After all, the last time I was in this ring, William Reynold Bucks and myself weren't exactly seeing eye to eye on the direction of this company. And to be honest, we still don't. However, if I could be afforded a moment of everyone's time, I'll gladly explain."
Garrick begins to walk around his half of the ring.
Garrick:"I guess you could say it all started last week. My day started just like any other day. I woke up, I had my morning coffee. I..."
Garrick walks over to Chelsey and wraps a comforting arm around her waist.
Garrick:"I had myself some alone time with my lovely wife here."
Chelsey grins and nods in agreement as the crowd whistles, no doubt their minds wondering. Roenick meanwhile looks mildly disgusted, while Rachel whose still standing behind him can't help but roll her eyes.
Garrick:"Ahem. Well after that, we headed down to our private gym for a different kind of workout. I turn on the television like I usually do before I start my routine. Sure enough the Today Show was on, and imagine my surprise when I saw who it was that was being featured on that particular day."
Roenick of course already knows the answer.
Garrick:"That's right. James Roenick and Rachel Riot!"
The crowd cheers in response, much to JR's delight.
Garrick:"Why the hell anyone at NBC ever thought it was a good idea to book of the two of you for the Today Show just boggles my mind."
Boos follow this time.
Garrick:"Regardless, Chelsey and I decided to watch your little interview anyway. And although the majority of it bored me to tears, it wasn't until what you said the end that caught my full attention. That being you were now medically cleared and would be returning at Summerfest."
Cheers. But a sinister grin forms on Garrick's face.
Garrick:"After hearing that, I knew I could let this opportunity pass me by. So I swallowed my pride and I gave Bucks a call and I told him that I wanted to be your opponent at Summerfest. For the right price of course. And wouldn't you know it? He agreed. Probably because this company is a sinking ship and Bucks needs to be able to sell Summerfest this year BIG time."
Boos echo that statement. Garrick turns to the crowd.
Garrick:"Oh believe me, its true people. When your main event at Summerfest is Regan Crowe vs. Kevin Mordrad, you know this company is on the downward spiral. At this point, only someone with my level of drawing power can save PRW's biggest show of the year from being a complete failure. Hell, the fact that I'm even OUT here right now means PRW is probably seeing the highest ratings its seen in years."
More boos, but Garrick ignores them and turns back to Roenick.
Garrick:"You know what's funny about this whole situation though, JR? That fact that Bucks is paying me quite handsomely to be you're opponent at Summerfest. The check's already been written. However, little does that old fool know that I would've taken a lot less to face you. Hell, after what you pulled two years ago, I would've fought you for FREE."
Roenick sighs in frustration, his suspicions now confirmed as to Garrick's reasoning behind all of this.
Garrick:"Yeah, you know exactly what I'm talking about, don't you JR? It's written all over your face. But hey, in case you needed a reminder as to why I'm going to beat you within an inch of you life at Summerfest, I brought a video clip for all to see. This footage wasn't easy to come by, seeing as Bucks has done his best to try and keep it hidden all this time. Nevertheless, I was able to negotiate it as part of my agreement to participate in Summerfest this year. So without further ado, I present to everyone here in audience and those watching at home, just what EXACTLY happened during my match with Matt Caje two years ago at Summerfest 2016! Roll it!"
Garrick turns to the face the jumbotron above the entrance ramp. Everyone's eyes in the arena follows Garrick's as the video begins to play...
On the outside, James Roenick stands up from his seat in the front row. He begins to yelling words of encouragement to Matt Caje inside the ring. However, Caje is unable to hear him and begins to go limp in Garrick's grasp.
Brunswick:"This is getting dangerous! The referee needs to end this match before its too late!"
Apparently feeling the same way, Roenick can no longer stand idle by and watch as the life begins to fade from Matt Caje, a man whom he respects tremendously. Roenick hops the barrier separating the crowd from the ring. Rachel who was sitting next to Roenick ringside pounces to her feet and yells at her husband to come back. Roenick however is determined to put a stop to this, he ignores her and leaps onto the apron of the ring.
Roenick:"Hey Ref! Get that son of a bitch off him, he's literally killing him in there!"
Referee:"Hey! You can't be here! Get off the apron!"
The referee quickly gets up to confront to Roenick, keeping him from entering the ring. Garrick can't believe what he's seeing. Infuriated, he releases a motionless Caje and beelines it over to the Roenick on the apron. Garrick shoves the official out of the way and cracks James across the jaw with a stiff right. Roenick drops down to the floor, but is quickly back on his feet, the anger on his face now equivalent to Garrick's. He reaches under the ropes, grabs hold of former rival's feet and forcibly pulls from the ring. It isn't long until Roenick and Garrick begin trading blows on the outside.
Smith:"What the hell does James Roenick think he's doing?! He has no business interfering in this match! He's supposed to be a spectator!"
Brunswick:"Be that as it may, I'm glad he got involved. If Garrick had been allowed to continue, who knows what would've happened to Matt Caje."
Chelsey Lynn, having suffered a superkick from Matt Caje at the beginning of the match, finally begins to stir back into consciousness. With the help of nearby medical staff, slowly she sits up and notices her husband engaged in an all-out brawl with James Roenick. Despite not knowing what the hell is going on, she decides to come to her husband's aid. Chelsey crawls over and reaches under the ring, pulling out a metal baseball bat. Weapon in hand, she struggles back to her feet, still suffering from the after effects of Caje's attack.
Smith:"Chelsey's back on her feet and it looks like she found herself a weapon!"
Brunswick:"Wha-? Why the hell is there an aluminum baseball bat under the ring?"
Smith:"Come on Brunswick, you should know by now that all sorts of wondrous things can be found under the ring."
Chelsey begins to work her around the ring, slowly working her up behind Roenick, who is still preoccupied with Garrick. Rachel Riot meanwhile, still at ringside, notices Chelsey sneaking up on her husband with evil intentions in mind. She hops the barrier just as Chelsey begins to raise the bat to strike James in the back of the head. Rachel grabs hold of the bat before Chelsey can swing it forward. Surprised by Rachel's sudden appearance next to her, the two women begin struggling for control of the bat. Glowering, Chelsey keeps one hand on the bat and strikes Rachel across the jaw with a harsh forearm. Rachel retaliates with a shot of her own. Like their husbands before them, they soon break out into a brawl of their own.
Smith:"We got ourselves a another fight Brunny!"
Back in the ring, the referee has lost all control of the situation at hand and frantically signals to the back for assistance. Several members of the security team emerge onto the entrance ramp and dash down to the ring to try and restore order between the feuding couples. They manage to briefly separate Rachel and Chelsey, however Garrick and Roenick are another story as they try to get between the two men. Fueled by rage, Garrick responds by lashing out at anyone who gets too close. Roenick responds in a similar manner, shoving aside those who get between him and Garrick. The situation breaks down into chaos as bodies begin to the litter the ground outside the ring.
Brunswick:"My goodness this is madness! What was supposed to be a promising match has now has completely spiraled out of control!
Left no other choice, the referee calls for the bell as things continue to break down at ringside. Matt Caje still hasn't moved, the medical staff who were previously assisting Chelsey are now tending to him in the middle of the ring. More security personnel filters into the arena, desperately trying to get a hold of the situation. After what seems like forever, they finally manage to separate the Garricks and the Roenicks from each other. Despite being somewhat battered, they escort James and Rachel back to their seats at ringside, while Garrick and Chelsey are forced back up the entrance ramp. Back in the ring, the referee is seen having words with Bob Saget. Saget nods and raises his microphone up, about to make an announcement.
Saget:"Ladies and gentlemen, the referee has informed me that due to the current circumstances, he has decided to end the match. The match itself has officially be declared a 'No Contest'. Please bear with us for a few minutes as we get the situation back under control. Thank you all for your patience."
This news does not sit well with Garrick on the entrance ramp. He is absolutely livid.
Garrick:"NO! NOOOO!! I HAD THIS MATCH WON! I HAD THE MATCH WON GODDAMMIT!"
Garrick continues to struggle with security, but now he is now far outnumbered and is quickly escorted to the back. Just before Chelsey and him disappear behind the curtains, the cameras are able to pick up one last thing.
Garrick:"ROENICK! YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS! I SWEAR I WILL MAKE YOU PAY!!"
The footage fades to black. Now back in the present, Garrick turns back around and glares at Roenick. Having to relive the memory of what happened between them two years ago has reignited the fire in his eyes of both men. There's a chorus mixed reactions from the onlooking crowd, not sure to make of what they just witnessed.
Garrick:"As all of you just saw, that's what really happened at Summerfest two years ago. It was conveniently covered by William Bucks in attempt to reduce company backlash. After all, you need to keep those stock holders happy, don't you Bucks?"
More mixed reactions.
Garrick:"I don't care about the cover up. What I care about is the fact that YOU, 'James Roenick', cost me a match against Matt Caje. A man who has insulted me time and time again! This was my opportunity to settle the score between us and finally shut up that self-righteous son of a bitch once and for all!"
Roenick:"You weren't interested in 'settling the score' Garrick. You were out for blood. You wanted to incapacitate Caje, to end his career. Why? Because you're a selfish bastard with a massive inferiority complex. And the only way you can cope is by inflicting as much pain upon other people as you possibly can."
Cheers emanate from the crowd.
Roenick:"I'll admit I didn't have any right getting involved in that match two years ago. However, despite what you think of him Garrick, Caje is a good man and a man I respect. He has a wife and children who love and depend on him, and therefore they need him to come home in one piece. I know what that's like to have that type of responsibly to your family. That's why I got involved, because I'll be damned if I was going to just sit by and watch as you destroyed his life in order to save your pride."
The chorus of applause fills the arena in favor of Roenick. The rage in Garrick's eyes intensifies. He slowly walks up to James, the two men face to face once more.
Garrick:"You dare speak to me about pride? All these years later and you still walk around here calling yourself 'The Perfect One.' Are you really that clueless JR? Chelsey here stated on Twitter the other day that perfection is the ultimate illusion and that you needed a dose of reality. Well allow me to give you that reality check JR. You're are not perfect. What you really are, is a colossal FAILURE. The last time you were relevant was back in 2009 when you finally got your hands on the Undisputed Championship. But we all know how that ended, don't we JR?"
Anger begins swell within Roenick as Garrick continues.
Garrick:"Ever since then, you're career has been a downward spiral. Fast forward nearly a full decade later and now look at you. A broken down man pushing 50, nothing but a shell of his former self. Tell me JR... Is that why you tried to kill yourself over the air a few years ago? Was it one last desperate attempt to try and reclaim your former glory?"
The loudest boos of the night echo throughout the arena. Roenick's face is red with rage. He contemplates whether or not to knock the smirk off of Garrick's face. However, Roenick takes a long, deep breath instead. Doing so allows him to calm down a bit.
Roenick:"I was in a bad place back then. I regret ever considering it. Fortunately for me, the Good Lord choose to save my life and helped me find balance. Unlike you Garrick, when I had my mental breakdown, I didn't come back like I just sold my soul to the devil."
Garrick seems to find this amusing. He laughs out loud.
Garrick:"You think I sold my soul to the devil? Oh JR... need I remind you that it was YOU who made me this way?"
Roenick gives Garrick the dirtiest of looks, but says nothing.
Garrick:"I'll give credit where credit is due. If you hadn't beaten me so resoundingly back in 2008, back when you were still in your prime, then I might have never become the success story I am today. You call it a mental breakdown? Wrong. It was a rebirth. Because that was the day Spardis died and Jason Garrick was born. Its thanks to you JR that was able to cast aside all those ridiculous emotions that were holding me back. I choose to live by the motto of 'No Mercy, No Remorse'. Its what allowed me to become this company's first-ever Grand Slam Champion and Most Successful Man in PRW's history. No matter who stood in my way, I made sure I made an example out of them by stomping their damn skulls into the dirt! ...Isn't that right Rachel?"
Garrick tilts his side to look directly at her standing behind her husband. Rachel nervously meets the eyes of the man she hoped she never have to see again. Unwittingly, she touches a small scar hidden just behind her hairline as the memory comes flooding back. A horrible memory of lying down flat on the cold, hard dirt, her arms pinned behind her as a sole of Jason Garrick's boot slowly begins to press up against the back of her skull. Her husband James restrained only a few feet away, his despairing eyes locked onto her's, helpless to prevent what's about to happen. And then suddenly... darkness. James notices the sudden despondence in Rachel's face. His anger flares as he takes a threatening step toward Garrick.
Roenick:"I'm only going to tell you this once Garrick. You stay the hell away from my wife, you understand me? You don't talk to her, you even don't look at her! Otherwise, I swear to God----!"
Garrick:"GOD!? God didn't save your wife then, and he's not going to save you at Summerfest. You said earlier you'd be damned if you didn't come to Caje's aid? Well if you thought what I did to him was bad, just imagine what I'm going to do to you JR. You claim you're both family men? Well correct me if I wrong, but didn't you use to have two children JR?"
Both the Roenicks' eyes go wide. A sudden hush falls over the crowd. No one can believe what they just heard come out of Garrick's mouth.
Garrick:"Sounds to me like your God has condemned you after all JR. You've failed as a wrestler, a husband, and now a father. And after this Sunday, much like your son, your career here in PRW will be dead and gone!"
That's it. Unable to hold back anymore, James reaches back to deliver perhaps the greatest haymaker he's ever thrown. However, before he swing forward and connect, his arm is suddenly caught and halted by Rachel. James looks back at her, furious and bewildered. But she isn't looking at him as her eyes are dead set on Garrick's. Slowly she releases her husband's arm and walks forward, coming to face to face with the man who just dared to bring up her deceased son. Garrick looks down at her, no signs of remorse on his face whatsoever. As if transfixed, Rachel continues to glare at him. Tears begin to well up and stream down her face, yet her expression remains the same. Garrick obviously sees this as a sinister grin emerges. It isn't long before he begins to laugh in Rachel's face outright.
Smith:"I... I can't believe what I just heard."
Brunswick:"This man, if you can even call him that, has just crossed a line you can never come back from. The very sight of him makes me absolutely sick."
All of a sudden, Rachel explodes with lightning quick speed and delivers the haymaker her husband was about to moments ago into the right eye socket of Jason Garrick. Obviously not expecting such a retaliation, Garrick takes the full force of the blow and crumbles to the mat. Rachel looks down at him with a look of pure wrath. James and Chelsey alike are shocked by what has just transpired. The onlooking crowd meanwhile comes alive, applauding Rachel's actions with a chorus of cheers.
Smith:"Again, I can't believe what I've just seen! Rachel Riot just dropped Garrick with a single punch!"
Brunswick:"He deserves it and more! Good for you Rachel!"
Chelsey quickly goes to her husband's aid, who continues to rive on the mat, clutching his eye in agony. Unable to help, Chelsey springs to her feet and approaches Rachel. Chelsey angrily mutters a few unheard words to the other woman. Rachel says nothing, glaring back at her in defiance. Teeth gritted, Chelsey reaches back and slaps the other woman across the face with all the strength she can muster. A loud crack echeos throughout the arena from the sound of skin meeting skin. The can't help yell "OOOOOOOOHHHH!" in response. Rachel stumbles back from the blow, but remains on her feet to her credit. She looks back at Chelsey with murderous intent and charges at her full speed. Rachel tackles Chelsey to the mat as both women began viciously swinging at each other on the floor. The YES! chants break into the crowd once again.
Brunswick:"Much like what we saw the footage from two years, Rachel and Chelsey are going at it yet again!"
Smith:"Listen to this crowd Brunswick! They're loving it!"
Unsure what to do at this point, Roenick starts to approach his wife to assist however he can, when he notices Garrick suddenly spring back to his feet! Garrick's eye has visibly began to swell in a short amount of time, nevertheless he attempts to use the element of surprise to his advantage and tries to connect with the Catalyst on Roenick. James however manages to duck out of the way in time before Garrick can hook his head and quickly strikes back with a flurry of punches. Much like their wives, Roenick and Garrick are soon at each others' throats in the middle of the ring as well.
Brunswick:"And just like 2 years ago, the Roenicks and the Garricks are engaged in an all-out fight yet again!"
Smith:"The feud between these two couples has become very personal, very quickly."
Brunswick:"It sure it has. However, if they going at this rate, neither Roenick or Garrick is going to make it to Summefest in one piece."
Meanwhile, back in the ring, James has begun to the get the better of Garrick. Due to Jason's now-limited eyesight, several of Roenick's blows find their mark and he soon drives his Summerfest opponent back against the ropes. Roenick then takes a few steps back and dashes at Garrick and proceeds to hit him with a stiff clothesline, knocking him over the ropes to the entrance ramp on the outside. Rachel herself has also gotten the better of Chelsey. Now back on her feet, Rachel rains down several stomps upon Chelsey lying on the mat, before finally driving her under the ropes to the outside alongside her husband. The Garricks begin to collect themselves on the outside, albeit battered and exhausted. Chelsey's hair is a tangled mess and her dress has been ripped and mangled from her scuffle. A small trickle of blood oozes from the corner of Jason's mouth. His eye even more swollen now to the point where the iris is barely visible. The Garricks look up at the Roenicks inside the ring, looking just as roughed up as them yet still standing together side by side, ready for another round if necessary. Jason and Chelsey give each other a look and decide its best to live to fight another day. They begin to slowly make their way back up the ramp. Rachel quickly retrieves a microphone that being used moments ago up from the mat.
Rachel:"GARRICK! Stop right where you are! Before you and that bitch drag your sorry asses backstage, I got something to say to you and you're going to listen to me!"
Rachel turns to face her husband. She meets his eyes.
Rachel:"James. I love you more than you will ever know. You and I have been through so much together. From the hardships in our marriage, to the injuries, to the rehab, to the..."
Rachel does her best to fight back more tears.
Rachel:"...to the loss of our son. But despite all of it, you and I have always prevailed in the end. And that's why I can't let you do this on your own."
Rachel points up to Garrick at the top of the entrance ramp.
Rachel:"That son of a bitch needs to pay. He needs to PAY for all the hell he's put us through, once and for all! This time, you and I need to do this... together."
James smiles and nods in agreement. The crowd cheers in excitment. Rachel meets the eyes of Jason Garrick standing at the top of the ramp once more. Her expression now deadly serious.
Rachel:"I don't care what I have to do to make it happen. One way or another Garrick, I promise you that this Sunday you're not just facing James Roenick, but Rachel Riot as well!"
More cheers.
Rachel:"So do whatever you need to do to prepare! You can even bring that whore you call a wife if you want! In the end, its not going to matter, because come Summerfest you're going to find out that you can't stop perfection! AND YOU CAN'T STOP US!"
With that Rachel tosses the mic to the ground as "The Resistance" by Skillet begins to fill the arena. The collective rage on the faces of the Garricks is undeniable. Rachel turns and embraces her husband. PRW's Perfect Couple now united more than ever before.
