"Excuse me darling, I had something I had to say." Jack Rider said. He was wearing new tailored suit and making his way out of his dressing room when he caught Ms. Cornbread and her faithful cameraman walking by, most likely to interview one of the other wrestlers after their match. But, Paladin had something to get off his chest immediately, and he was not fond of waiting. "I have some controversial things to say. I promise it'll be worth your time."
"Oh, Jack!" Stacy said, surprised by the sudden appearance of the Brit. However, she smiled when she saw him. Perhaps it was merely the cameraman's imagination, but she seemed more cheerful around Paladin than the other competitors. "Get the camera rolling." "But Ms. Cornbread-"
"They can wait." Stacy said, her voice stern. With a shrug, the cameraman started to roll. "We're live here with PRW's White Knight, Jack Rider. Jack, we recently heard you give some controversial statements about PRW's main event. Since then, you've fallen silent. What do you have to say?"
"I'll be frank Ms. Cornbread...I'm not pleased. I'm sick and tired of this bullshit narrative that's being spun by our latest number one contender." Paladin said, as though those words made him sick. "Did you hear what Crowe had to say Ms. Cornbread? Of course you did. And I know you can't comment on it because you are one of PRW's employees, but I am sick and tired of these relics who haven't wrestled in months coming back all to take a spot from someone more deserving at the biggest show of the year, Summerfest."
"You want to find fake news? Look no further than this crap that Crowe is spewing. In Crowe's little fantasy world, she hasn't been around much because everyone was too afraid of her." Paladin looked down at Ms. Cornbread. "Tell me Stacy...do I strike you as someone who is afraid of that five-foot nothing cheerleader? Does Kevin Mordrad strike you as afraid? Does Lal Singh? No, they don't. Because the fact is...the only reason nobody has bothered to face Crowe is because nobody gave a shit about her. She hasn't been competing in months, she's held no championships...why bother? But in her mind...we're all afraid of her."
"Fine then. If that is what she believes...I'm going to issue a challenge here and now. Next week Crowe. You and I. One on one." Paladin said. "And this time, you won't have nineteen other competitors around to soften me up. Because the fact is Crowe, the only reason why you're little undefeated streak has lasted this long is because none of the newest competitors in PRW have seen any reason to take it from you. Why? Because for all your success, you're lazy. You've never held the PRW championship, the X-division championship...hell, you've never even held the Internet Championship. And why? Because you've never challenged yourself because you know that if you did, you would come up short."
"And you can try and spin the narrative any way you wish. But here's the facts; you have done nothing to earn your title opportunity other than coax PRW to put you into the Superbattle late enough for you to win it. You did not earn it. You were handed it." Paladin said, staring into the camera. "But...you made one fatal mistake. Now, you do have something I want. You have Mordrad at Summerfest. And mark my words, whether you give it to me willingly or I have to ensure that you won't be there at all...that spot is mine."
"And I will have it-" Just as Paladin was about to continue his promo, a security guard walked up. Surprised, Paladin turned around. "Is there a problem?"
"I'm going to need you to come with me sir." The guard explained.
"Am...am I in trouble?" Paladin asked.
"All I know is that I got somoene on the phone who needs to speak with you about something that happened." The guard said. "Come with me please."
"Alright...excuse me Cornbread." Paladin said with a nod.
