NOX: You ever notice that nobody who climbs a mountain does it once?

We open up with some minimalist vibes. Sitting there in a chair on a bright sunny day in Australia is none other than Joey NOX. Wearing a Yankees hat and workout gear, the former Undisputed Champion lets the words linger through the air, his eyes focused down on his hands. As the sun shines down on him, Joey rubs his palms together and keeps his eyes locked on the floor. He shoots quickly to give the camera a little smirk before he looks back down. With a big deep breath, Joey NOX continues onward with his hands gesturing to drive his point home.

NOX: Think about it. Mountain climbers don't just climb a mountain once, right? Again and again and again and....

NOX drifts off. His eyes suggest some conflict between the words he speaks and emotions inside of him. He puffs out his cheeks and takes a big deep breath, hands clasped tightly together. It's as if every sentence Tsuksihima Shadow threw his way is replaying over in his head. The idea of not understanding that you don't understand. The concept of being unable to let it go when you really think you want to. As if he's taking a momentary detour, Joey NOX looks up at the camera with big eyes and lets out a little nervous chuckle.

NOX: There's something about people like me that I've never understood. Maybe Tsuki is right, ya know? I mean I still think she's responsible for all of this but let's dabble in a little humor for a second. There's something about people like me I don't understand and no matter how hard I've tried, I'll never be able to take both hands and firmly grasp the concept of what it is about people like me that do the things I do. Like mountain climbers.

NOX catches himself, almost a sigh of relief escaping his lips. He took a trip and almost lost himself but was able to rediscover where it is he planned on going.

NOX: Let's go back to that real quick, do you ever notice that nobody only climbs a mountain once?

NOX smirks and leans back in his seat, his eyes locked on the camera now. His voice is steady and almost soothing. It's as if this whole week has made him somewhat sedate relative to his normal passion levels.

NOX: Something about pushing yourself to the very brink, breaking yourself in the process, leaning about what it is inside of you and vomiting out your very soul all in the name of accomplishing a tremendous feat is.....well it's liberating. It's a certain freedom that the man who lives every day of his life on the straight and narrow schedule can't relate to. It's too much for you to want to take that risk. It's too much to want to test yourself the way I do----so you'd rather just watch me do it. I am your chosen preferred mountain climber.

Joey holds his finger up to the camera, his face wearing a casual smirk as he waggles the finger back and forth.

NOX: I've climbed this mountain once upon a time.

Joey takes a big deep breath and with the help of MOVIE MAGIC, we've got NOX narrating a highlight reel for last year's Superbattle. The likes of Nebraska Jones, Bane, Vincent Knight, Manik Mercer, Ace Andrews, Alexander Owens, Kevin Mordrad and Joey NOX all adorn our screens. We get to relive the frenetic action of 2017's Superbattle in living color once and for all.

NOX: Last year I climbed the mountain of PRW and it was more brutal than any Kilimanjaro or Everest. There was no torrential snow to blind you, just the speed of the athletes blinding your every step with how fast they moved or how versatile they were. Instead of numbing cold, you had excruciating pain and the heat from the brightest lights in the business. Instead of a few cute goats or some birds, you had TWENTY BEASTS colliding in that ring putting it all on the line! That was hell! That was the toughest match of my life and when you looked in the snow covered hills, you saw my reflection at the top of it because I was the KING of the Hill! I won the Superbattle!

As the passion in Joey NOX's voice hits its crescendo, we get to rewatch the ending where Joey NOX vanquished Manik Mercer to leave 2017 Superbattle as the winner. We get to see the celebration for NOX's big win and wrap up party before we go back live to NOX looking all sorts of fired up in his seat. With a deep breath, Joey tenses up and relaxes. The color in his face returns to a normal tone and he fights desperately to maintain control of himself.

NOX: And now what am I going to do? Well I'm going to climb the mountain again.

Now it's nothing but seriousness. Joey leans in and puts both hands on his lap, eyes ahead at the camera. This is pure emotion and raw honesty from the man who won the Superbattle last year.

NOX: This is a simple message to everybody else in the Superbattle. It's a beautiful 70 degrees in Australia but I've got a cold chill up my spine. You know why? Because this is Superbattle; it's the mountain. It's the coldest mountain in our sport and I'm going to climb it again. I WILL plant my flag up on that mountain top whether you people like it or don't. I just want you all to understand that if you're a novice, climbing this mountain will be impossible. If you're a guy who has tried to do it over and over? Well if you were destined to win it, you would've by now am I right? There's an old wrestling story that to prove a point to a promoter who was shorting him on a payoff, Peter Maivia climbed up to the tallest tree in Hawaii and threw the title belt over the last branch and shouted that if any man wanted to come and be champion, they needed to climb that tree and come get it.

It's Superbattle. Start climbing.

And with that, NOX gets up from his seat and we fade out to a graphic advertising the pay per view.
