The scene fades in on Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland. John Bane is standing off of the field in the dirt as he watches the grounds crew do their work to prepare for the Orioles home opener on the 29th against the Twins. Bane has always been an avid fan of baseball and more specifically The Orioles themselves. He takes in every game that he can and mercilessly shills their gear at almost every turn during the season. Bane is wearing the spring training gear of his beloved O's and has his orange Orioles jersey unbuttoned showing a Dixie Lanford shirt with her holding the X Division Title underneath. Bane keeps his eyes on the grounds crew as he begins to speak.
Bane: I love March. It is probably my favorite time of the year because I know baseball is starting and with that always comes a glimmer of hope that maybe this might be the year I see the Orioles win it all. Everyone gets a fresh start in March. No one really has the advantage and any thing can really happen. Records mean nothing and real heroes always rise to meet the challenges presented to them. The opening of baseball season kind of reminds me of The Superbattle. Everyone comes into the season optimistic and full of hope that this will be their year. Same with the battle. Everyone comes into Superbattle with the hope and dreams that they will win the big one and go on to the biggest show of the year to challenge for the big title. Some people root for the underdog and some just root for whatever team usually wins. But does it really matter? People who root for guys like Joey Nox and Alex LeBlanc versus guys who root for Matt Stevenson and Jack Rider? Guys who root for the Yankees and the Red Sox or people who root for the Orioles and the Pirates? Everyone seems to have their favorites depending on how you were raised and your personal preference. What I think is as long as you are watching does it really matter honestly? As long as you are having a good time does it matter who wins and who loses?
Sure it does because you want who you root for to win everytime. And that is where I come in. No one wants to see me win and every single time I do it deflates everyone. When I beat Takato Kazama, the man who they said couldnt be beat for the X Division Championship, I watched little kids cry in the front row as I destroyed their hero. Let me tell you something, I enjoyed the hell out of that. When I returned and threw Carlos Cruz off of a ladder, destroying his career on my way to a second reign as X Division Champion, I looked out and saw all the Jesus Freak followers with their mouths open in sadness and horror at the broken heap of body that was once the freak I lavished at the moment. When I heard him calling out for his mom and dad and then Jesus for assistance and he only found that he could not walk out of the arena under his own power, I laughed because I knew that he had lost his faith. When Matt Stevenson wanted in to a match that he shouldnt have been in and he was destroyed by three wrestlers who were better than him and he was carried out of that match, I loved it because I goated him into that match. A match he was not prepared in the slightest for and he actually thought he was going to win. The look on his face when he was beaten and he realized that he was not ready to be a top tier wrestler in this company was, in a word, priceless. The return of The Inquisitor and all that hype that it brought with it and to find out that he didnt have what it takes to keep up with the new blood of PRW was another priceless moment. Finally, watching Alexander Owens try and fail over and over again to try and gain some measurement of success. To fight and claw and work his way up the ladder until he got a match with me only to have victory snatch from his grasp twice was probably the best moment of my career. No I take that back. Smashing my knee into his skull just down the road was the best moment of my life. I lured him into a trap. I fooled him because he is easily fooled. He is too trusting. A man who is gullible like that deserves to be taken advantage of. The only thing I regret is that I didnt get a second chance to smash my knee into his thick skull again.
At Superbattle I will take everything from Alexander Owens. I will take his X Division Championship away. I will do this by training Dixie Lanford and that title will return to the House of Bane. He will try and get his revenge on me by entering the Superbattle match and eliminate me. He will do this to much fanfare. The pop that will be heard when his music hits and I am in the ring will be deafening I am sure. He will come out hyped up and looking to take me out. The crowd will be into this moment for sure. He will enter the ring. The crowd will be in a fevered pitch. I will put my knee into his skull and eliminate him. The crowd will boo and will become deflated and just as always I will laugh because Alexander Owens will be just like every single fan in attendance that night, he will be a loser. I will look down at him and I will laugh and he will feel the shame of being a loser once again, without a title and without a path to Summerfest. I will go on to complete the Superbattle match and go on to face whoever the champion is at Summerfest and when I hold that title high in the air Alexander Owens will realize just how big a loser that he actually is.
Superbattle is 30 days away and I look forward to disappointing you all on that night.
Bane smiles as the sun hits his face and the scene fades out.
