Things has started to settled down in the Allen Center after a busy night of great action during one of the last shows before the highly anticipated PPV, Salvation. A trio of heat battles were set to take place at the AT&T Center so far, with more action always possible. One noticeable exclusion from the card was Alexander Owens; his status still being injured/in rehab. A lot of buzz still existed around him; having dropped a few promos and some candid interviews. From all respects, he seemed to be rehabbing well and was slated to be back sooner than later. By his own admission he was suppose to be at the Allen Center tonight; thought the night had almost dwindled to a close and their had been no signs of Owens...until now.
As his music hits, the crowd swelled with excitement. This was definitely Owens’s country; his background and resume well known and much appreciated in this area. He was not dressed to compete, instead he wore well polished hayseed yellow boots with jeans and blue flannel shirt completed with a black blazer. He looked relaxed and excited at the same time. The most noticeable change to his looks; at least to those in the know, was the absence of a cast on his arm.
As he slides into the ring, he drinks in the cheers and adulation; quickly making his way to the corner and aping the less vulgar corner motion of the oh so famous Texas Rattlesnake. This draws a huge reaction from the crowd; as was expected. Hooping down; Owens motions for a mic, which he gets in short order.
Owens: Boy oh boy is great to be back in this ring; especially in Texas. I’ve tread boots in a lot of bingo halls, VFW’s, and rodeo arenas in this state and it’s always felt like a second home to me.
Owens gets a warm cheer from the crowd. He is well liked and affabtable; emitting that country boy charm that he’s come to be known for. Add in that Mid-Texas has been and always will be a hotbed for the biz; and Owens was feeling quite comfortable in this ring.
Owens: Now I’m not just out here to here some cheers and yank y'all around. No, I’m here to say a few things; things about the future and about my health and role going forward.
Owens, his head down turned a little, draws a little bit of hushed nervousness from the crowd. This could be bad news and many of those in attencede are begging that it is not. Their fears are quickly squashed though as Owens goes from a demour stance to one much more befitting of what he said next.
Owens: In regards of my health; I’ve never felt better. As of Monday this week, I am cast free and after a few stress test this Friday; I’ll be cleared for action. So I am briefed to say that I won’t be wrestling this Sunday in San Antonio at Salvation. I tried to push the table as fast as I could but will can only push biology so far and doctors can only work so fast; so no match at Salvation. But that doesn't mean I won’t be there. Oh by the contrast, I’ll be in San Antonio; standing in this ring and making a major announcement about my first title defense at Blackout. So if you haven’t done it already, order up and tune into Salvation. It, and me, are sure to not disappoint. And you better believe that what I’m gonna say is gonna shake the pillars of heaven. Goodnight and see all ya in San Antonio.
Owens drops the mic and head out the ring; his face covered in a full blow thousand watt country mile wide smile. He doles out high fives, fist bumps, and selfies all up the ramp. Brunswick: Well, we have been left in the dark a little bit here but I am definitely intrigued with what Owens might have for us at Salvation.
Smith: I can’t agree more Josh. Owens is a printing press for money and he never disappoints. I’m gonna be waiting to see and hear what he’s got for us on that night.
