The Mountain Men had managed a good pop from the crowd after a match where they cleaned house on recent foes, Slapstick. They parted the curtain off a victory lap, the crowd calmed, and chatting among themselves until the lights dimmed, and the tron screens came on with a blink. The arena gave up a cheer when the image of Lal Singh appeared, only one side of her face to the camera. A shot of bust and shoulder.
She was stoic, and still. Her one visible, onyx black eye staring straight ahead until she looked sideways. At the crowd, at the viewers at home, at the Black Knights perhaps? Her lips parted, her voice low, pensive, and stoney even.
<Lal Singh> ‘...He is my dragon to slay Singh, not yours...‘
She quoted, her inky well closing, the one side of her face seen furrowed, lips tilting upward as an audible intake of could be heard.
<Lal Singh> ‘Those few words told me everything I need know about you, Jack Rider. Everything anyone need know.‘
Her eye opened. Her smile becoming a horizontal line as straight as the equator.
<Lal Singh> ‘Your dragon to slay because you never slayed him. No. You destroyed yourself over him, to create him...to finish him like a work of art...and he rewarded the devotion, the sentiment. You made him, Jack Rider, and NOW Ata Tatupu has a real PROBLEM...‘
An exhale followed, Lal bowing her head with it.
<Lal Singh> ‘I see now, how much Ms. Martinez has taken to your ways. For like you, she could have won against me, but instead, made me stronger, a force worse than it was. You could have taken your "dragon" down, slayed it, but you did not...you amplified it...‘
The squeak of a chair as it swiveled, and Lal was now facing the viewer head on. A bruise was visible in the center of her forehead. The camera pulled back to reveal her completely. Her afflicted leg wrapped, supported. Lal folded her arms.
<Lal Singh> ‘Martinez could have defeated me, but needed to leave me to you...to your cowardly assault that Greg Samuel was a true chivalrous heart and saved me from...You have my thanks, Mr. Samuel. (A huff, and closed eyes pause, then) I am the tapestry of your need personified, Rider. Your pride and perfidy made flesh. Your creation, much like how you created an aura, an egregor of fear around Kevin Mordrad, you will establish my perpetual motion at Salvation. You shall set me free. Make me an insatiable force.‘
Lal leaned forward in her chair, both black eyes drilling far beyond the frame it seemed.
<Lal Singh> ‘But this is not so one sided, Jack Rider. At Salvation, while you will make me fully realized. For that is what you do, make. I will be more a friend than you realize. I am more than another dragon you have made. In fact, I am more a healer. I am Salvation to you.‘
The words hung in the air as she paused for breath, unblinking eyes riveted straight into anyone watching on the other end.
<Lal Singh> ‘I will make you whole. I will make you a believer, a true believer.‘
And she sat back with a smile.
<Lal Singh> ‘I am Lal Singh.‘
She said, voice strong, with a bite of steel.
<Lal Singh> ‘I am.‘
Whispered to the camera as the tron screens faded to black. The following teaser was played after to those at home, online, and in the arena.
