It is apparent that the footage being beamed through the interwebs is taking place mere moments after Lal Singh defeated (narrowly) Reba "The Templar Knight" Martinez. Known for her massive, unique legs, Lal was not on them as Stacy entered frame and knelt down to stick a microphone in her face.
Lal was laying on the floor. Chest in a series of heaves. Body still covered in sweat. She was a visible mess. Still, she peeked an eye open when she became aware that she wasn't alone in the dressing room.
Cornbread looked at the camera, and looked guilty.
Lal muttered something that was heard but largely inaudible on camera, drawing Cornbread's attention back to her. She held the mike to her lips.
<Stacy Cornbread> ‘I'm sorry, you don't have to talk...‘
<Lal Singh> ‘Do not apologize. Do not leave. Give me the microphone.‘
Lal bellowed loud enough to be discerned. Cornbread looked back at the camera, shrugged, and handed the mic off to Lal. She stepped out of frame and the camera positioned to hover over the battered Rookie from Rajasthan.
<Lal Singh> ‘Tonight wasn't a match. I went through a test. Otherwise, Reba would have tapped me out early in...‘
The pause that followed seemed to hang forever.
<Lal Singh> ‘I realized before, and realize deeper now that Reba, you not only tested me, but reduced me for your idol. Hear this, Templar Knight; You may believe you prepared a sacrifice for your Paladin. All you did was break my stride. Not me. I will be walking in two weeks. I will be ready in two weeks. I will be wiser after tonight. You could have tapped me and been over with it...but no, you groomed me into something for Jack Rider at Salvation. Something you believe he could overwhelm in moments. No, you made the dragon. And it will slay The Paladin at Salvation...‘
She took a breath.
<Lal Singh> ‘These tactics don't suit you. You are meant for so much more. YOU could have been the woman to break my streak. Now you have prolonged it indefinitely. Arrogance, like Matthew Stevenson's cowardly assault on the far superior Greg Samuel...they will be resolved at Salvation...‘
She looked up at the camera, her eyes having been closed up until then.
<Lal Singh> ‘Tonight...you made a believer out of me...I failed...but I WILL NOT FAIL against The Paladin. If he requires YOU to soften me, then he is inferior to you...think about that over the following weeks. Think about that when I defeat what you believe in at SALVATION...‘
Another, agonizing pause...then...
<Lal Singh> ‘Think about that when you consider helping a charlatan such as Jack Rider...‘
Handing the microphone back to Stacy Cornbread, Lal is surrounded by a couple of medics, a gurney is brought into view as the scene faded out.
