Carried over from: Impress Me

Wire smiled at the enthusiasm, but signaled to the booth, as well as the nearby official as Lal drifted from her corner, stopping short in the middle of the ring, looking confused. Amber, Bill Ash, and Doug Smith powwowed in the corner as the crowd started to murmur. Ash walked over to Singh, appeared to explain several things to the Rookie From Rajasthan, getting a nod from her, though a look of disappointment materialized on her face.

<Josh Brunswick>
‘Hold on, everyone, something seems to be developing here, Doug looks flustered, Singh frustrated...Martinez a bit concerned...don't go anywhere...‘

Wire pointed over at Singh, then fanned her arms out, shoulders shrugging, palms up. Glowering at several members of the production staff who'd gone a bit pale, Wire looked at them expectantly. They nodded, calling over to Ash. Ash huddled with them, nodded, and went back to Singh, who, was resting her head against the top turnbuckle pad, hands on the top ropes. His words did not settle well, sending Singh into a fury of punches aimed at the turnbuckle she had rested against. Tearing the surface material, pad stuffing flew everywhere as Amber entered the ring with a microphone.

Doug Smith could be seen sitting back down next to Josh Brunswick in the background.

<Amber>
‘Ladies and Gentlemen, in light of last Rage's opening match between Lal Singh and Greg Samuel, Lal Singh is not...!!?!!‘

Lal Singh tore the mic out of Amber's hands, pacing back and forth like a caged, riled tiger. Her dark eyes flitted glances at Wire, and ashamed sideways glances at the audience. With a deep breath, Lal bellowed in here accented voice.

<Lal Singh>

‘I am not medically cleared to fight for another twenty four hours!‘

The crowd, naturally, booed. Loudly. Lal stomped like a disappointed child as she paced to and fro, eyes on the canvas. The rookie was so eager. The freight train woman wrestler had a ridiculous work rate so far, and a match for the books in her accomplishments. There was a needful look to her, a desire evident in her very gait to keep moving, to keep advancing. Reba "Barbed Wire" Martinez could see this very energy. This young woman's drive right off.

<Lal Singh>
‘I am sorry to disappoint you all...but I could not let this chance slip away!‘

She looked up, and pointed at Wire.

<Lal Singh>
‘Greg Samuel took me to my limit, you knew this, Ms. Martinez; while some might be angry with you bringing up what the production staff was willing to ignore, you, YOU, were not about to let me come out here and wreck what little I have recovered since my Rage Debut match! I appreciate the act of good form on your part...‘

The crowd's reaction was mixed at best. They were expecting a fight, but were getting words. That being said, they were willing to hear Lal speak, this being her first time on the microphone since she arrived. brushing some pad stuffing off her bare shoulder, Lal continued.

<Lal Singh>
‘But I wish you were not so charitable to me. Not so kind. I came to PRW knowing what I would face, expecting the worst. Until Greg Samuel (crowd pops at his name), I have met little I could not overcome with minimal effort...‘

Still pacing, her hard steps were causing the ropes to be troubled, vibrating them slightly with each stamped down sole to the canvas. Her black eyes never left Wire's.

<Lal Singh>
‘I came here to battle monsters, Ms. Martinez, but was wound to discover that I am the monster!‘

The crowd gave Lal a pop for this. The rookie paused for it briefly, then pressed on, stopping dead in front of Wire, steeping in towards her. Sotto voce...

<Lal Singh>
‘I cannot help but speculate that you called out to me specifically tonight, Ms. Martinez. That you knew I was eager, but incapable to compete. You wanted to draw me out as assurance to Jack Rider that he had something other than Mordrad to contend with. Your "Paladin" needed a dragon to slay at Salvation in the meantime before he settled up with the Knight...‘

And Lal stepped in closer.

<Lal Singh>
‘I am no fairy-tale!‘

The spectators gave Lal another vocal show of approval as she went nose to nose with Barbed Wire, looking slightly up to do so. The electricity between the two noticeable, their eyes never wavered.

<Lal Singh>
‘I do not hide in caves. I do not plunder riches. I beat the insignificant and the impotent. I can beat Mordrad, cleanly. I can beat you cleanly, also. And I can beat Jack Rider cleanly, as well.‘

Ticket holders sent up verbal appreciation for Lal's bravado as she stepped away. But her eyes stayed fixed, staring passed Reba's scowl, seeming to penetrate deeper.

<Josh Brunswick>
‘Big words...‘

<Doug Smith>
‘Big women.‘

It's time to take PRW to a place darker still...
Wire was taken aback by Singh's words. She certainly had the confidence and poise necessary to be a champion, she would give her that. However, she seemed to be underestimating her opponents. This was PRW Rage: only the best of the best ever made their way here, and Singh was about to realize that Samuels was far from the worst challenge she would face during her time here.

Still, there was something more than that when it came to Lal Singh. There was something about her that just got under Wire's skin immediately. In some ways, the two were quite similar: they were both women trying to make names for themselves in a business that was still dominated by men. However, that was where the similarities seemed to end. Singh was a gifted, possibly freakish athlete who could dominate her opponents with sheer force. Wire? The only reason she had gotten here in the first place because she had been more tenacious and brutal than any of her opponents. She was not the "blue-chip" athlete with a bright future like Lal Singh. She was the hardcore wrestler who had lost on her debut.

And here Lal Singh was, trying to make a name for herself at both Wire and Paladin's expense. Well, the big Brit would likely have a few words once they come face-to-face. But for now, it was just about the two of them. Two women who's opposite paths had suddenly collided. "I gotta admit Lal Singh, you're confident, maybe even a little cocky, but I'll say this: you walk and talk like a champion."

"However..."
Wire picked up the Internet Championship. Though it was not hers, she looked at it very fondly, like a child she had been asked to watch over. "I think that you will find that it is one thing to say you can beat men like Paladin and Mordrad, and another to actually face them in the ring. But, you will have time to worry about them later..."

Wire stepped forward until she was toe-to-toe with Lal Singh. "The only one you should be thinking about right now is me."

"Trust me Lal Singh, I've had my eyes on you for awhile. And frankly, despite all the hype, despite all of your victories, now that you're standing before me on PRW Rage, having arrived in the big leagues..."
Wire stared into her eyes. "I am not impressed. You think that you can beat a few wannabes and have one good match with a rookie, and you suddenly think you can beat the entire roster? I hate to tell you this Singh. Maybe you're still technically undefeated, but against Samuels, you sure as hell didn't win."

"The fact is Singh, I don't need to hear anything else from you to know that you can't beat Paladin. While these moronic fans..." The crowd booed audibly. "...may be impressed with your little debut match, all it did was highlight the difference between you and the champ. Paladin fought against Mordrad until he physically couldn't anymore. You? Your match was cancelled by a referee and now you're out here whining about not being able to compete again tonight. You lack the killer instinct needed to be a success in PRW."

"Trust me, you and me don't need Razer's approval if you wanna go." Wire began to walk out of the ring. "You can say what you want, but as far as I'm concerned you're little dream of facing the champ is still a fairy tale. You want your spot on the card? How about you face me next week. You win, and you'll prove to Paladin that you're worth his time."

With that, Wire dropped the mic and exited the ring, the crowd clapping with excitement over the announcement.
