Yeah, so that didn't necessarily go as planned.

After months out of the business, I came back to a relatively disastrous re-debut, and plugged away in a Ladder match; ironically the match I pretty much built in PRW, getting bested by a few other men for a title that would have meant something to me once upon a time.

Truth be told, if this was a few years ago, you probably wouldn't be hearing from me as I would have been relentlessly in a gym somewhere angrily kicking my own ass, obsessive about this defeat. My current psychiatrist says that isn't healthy. The real reason I'm not doing it is because Sonia Capasso and my girlfriend won't give me the keys to the gym and the car, respectively.

Still, as I'm sitting here typing this, I can't help but too become instantly aware of the commentary of the peanut gallery on the forums, Twitter, Instagram, and the ilk. Many of you are saying that I've come back once again with my Golden Shovel to bury people, to steal a spot and to send people down the event card based on name recognition and not merit.

I look at those comments, I take them in and to them I say:

"Sorry about your damn luck.."

You see, there's a harsh and evident truth about PRW nowadays that needs to be said, and it can be evidenced by the match at Clash of the Titans, and by the current business negotiations in Australia, New Zealand, and even with the negotiations in Latin America.

If we're being honest? We just had a match in which Alexander Owens, John Bane and Carlos Cruz put themselves through hell in a Ladder Match where each of them should have come across as a star afterwards, but with the belt retained and with a tremendous performance by those men in the books, none of those men is in any higher a position than whence they started. Why? Because none of those men has connected with the crowd to the point that they can become the MAN here and carry the company.

John Bane is trying to re-ignite some care in the X-Division title, but for one reason or another, hasn't gotten the full push he probably deserves. Carlos Cruz couldn't buy a fan right now even though he's obscenely talented. Alexander Owens? He's the greatest waste of potential that PRW has ever seen.

You want the truth? I'm here partly because I'm an addict who can't learn how to say no and walk away. The other part of it? I'm here because none of you can do your fucking job and sell out a stadium.

True fact - Clash of the Titans still had seats available before I joined the X-Division match.

True fact - We were able to break into Australia and New Zealand as a new market once I attached my name to the territory and purchased NOISEUX WEST as a location and confirmed interest in making it work.

True fact - We wouldn't have gotten a show in Ecuador rolling unless I signed on to wrestle a match on that card and ensure R.O.I. and a large gate for the arena and the co-promoters.

I'm still here, in part, because nobody can sell the product or be the "Face" of the Franchise. I'm here because in a post-LeBlanc era where they've tried to create a new star who bleeds the red and black like I did, someone who would do the press tours, give you the soundbites and sell the product better than anybody ever has? All you've gotten are cheap imitations and a pair of shoes that PRW hasn't been able to fill.

They argue that I shouldn't be back due to my health, due to not needing to do it. They argue that they don't want to allow me to become a statistic. They argue that they don't want to see me doing the Flair/Hogan tour when I'm 50, still plugging away in this industry...but their loving the revenue and the inflation of their bottom line.

So let's call it what it is, I'm here because you guys can't do your fucking jobs, and if any of you want to "Be The Man", then gladly walk in, punch me in the mouth, shut me up and take that role and that title off my mantle, because up until this point? None of you from this so-called "Modern Era" has stepped up to do so, and the one dude that I thought would? He's too busy wasting his gifts like Tommy Morrison.

You speak of burials and Golden Shovels? Nah, fam. You all got it wrong.

It's always been a Measuring Stick.

That show in Ecuador with NOX? Prime example. Tag Trophies on the line, should be a big deal, but it sold out and people CARED once they heard the Black Suit Outlaws were going to be reuniting for One Night Only. People buzzed when they heard they were going to see the "Dead Man's Hand" one more time. People got excited at the thought of the Boys in Black hitting the ring together one more time.

And you know the saddest part?

We haven't tagged together seriously in about a year, and we're still going to walk in, kick the shit out of whoever has the Tag Trophies and then maybe, just MAYBE go on a run with these things to prove to all of you that even with ring-rust, even needing to find our rhythm, even with needing to get the chemistry down again...there's still nobody that can touch us.

Why?

Because it's always been a measuring stick.

Not a golden shovel.
