The lights are dimmed in this sultry strip club. The speakers pulsate in rhythm with the flashing as the smoke billows across the floor. Tonight the dive is packed with as diverse a crowd of men one can find; from the young seeing their first pair of twins, to the rich business types, to the older, lonelier gents with nothing better to do. A familiar scene.
Squeezing past the gaggle of overzealous, underfamous Soundcloud emcees is none other than PRW's ever reliable voice from the booth; Josh Brunswick. A familiar face in an unfamiliar scene.
Brunswick hastily finds space for the shot, and starts to address the camera before him.
Brunswick: Salut and salutations! It's a shocking sight I'm sure seeing yours truly in none other than a strip club, but rest assured I'm not here to peep puppies. Despite what Doug would have you believe, I've got two very good reasons of my own at home not to go to these. I'm actually here to meet one of PRW's most interesting signings to date; Kurt Kiddo.
Together the cameraman and Brunswick stumble their way through the heaving club in search for Kiddo, clamouring into an unsurprisingly bizarre assortment of patrons. Interspersed are ambient shots of the club and the girls in it; as to hide Brunswick's struggle across the crowd.
Brunswick: It was not our choice to hold the interview here; Kurt himself would only accept an interview if we came 'into his world.' The board were very keen on securing this interview, because they see Kurt Kiddo as potentially the most exciting acquisition of the year.
Eventually Brunswick happens upon the man himself, lounged at a table in a thick black jumper and a popping brown blazer. Kiddo is accompanied by one lone friend at the table; a heftily built man, much like Kiddo, but with a silver mane and dark bushes for eyebrows. Scattered on the table is a messy arrangement of drinks - both finished and to be - as well as two packs of straights, a wallet and a small pile of notes.
Kiddo: Mr. Brunswick!
Kiddo gets to his feet and presses out his hand towards Brunswick's for a shake. The two greet and share pleasantries, before Kiddo turns the attention towards his friend.
Kiddo: This here is my pal Lew. Good lad, great even.
Brunswick: It's a pleasure to meet you both!
Lew: Pleasure's ours, my boy!
Kiddo: I was hoping they were gonna send Doug in. Oh well; you'll do, son.
Kurt winks at Brunswick and with a strong pat on the back Kurt beckons him to sit at the table.
Brunswick: Firstly Kurt, congratulations on the contract. It's surely a great relief for both parties a deal is finally inked. What the viewers at home might not realise is that this has been a long time coming, you've been on the PRW radar for such a long time but a deal could never materialise.
Kiddo: Mmmm, yeah. I've been a wanted man a couple of years now. I had a trial some time back, but blew my knee, and at another show I butted heads with a few people that perhaps meant I pushed the company away a bit. But they were never gonna stay away long. They made it very clear to me I was wanted.
Brunswick: What do you think it was about yourself that made the PRW team so determined to lock you down to their roster?
Kiddo: I got heart nearly as big as my balls.
Kurt and Lew share a chuckle amongst each other complete with slapping at the other.
Brunswick: At Summerfest one of our company's finest vets was handed a loss by a much fresher faced Jesse Drive. Does it concern you as a more experienced competitor that time seems to favour the young, or do you look forward to the challenge of taking on some of the best young stars in the industry?
Kiddo: That was a sorry loss for Joey NOX, I had him down as leaving with the strap. But his loss doesn't bother me that much as a competitor. As an admirer of his ability, sure; I hate to see the great fall off. But I'm coming in to fight, not to collect autographs, and it doesn't matter to me if the top dog is 22 or 52 because I still have enough faith in my own ability as a professional wrestler to put them down no matter how old they are.
Brunswick: That's interesting that. So... you think Joey NOX has fallen off?
Kiddo: Joey lost, did he not?
Kurt cusps his cup in his hand and peers in, before swigging the last remaining drops of his drink.
Kiddo: I like to drink like my liver is my own worst enemy. Look... I'm not saying Joey has fallen off, but it makes for a great headline. Maybe there is some truth in it.
Brunswick: Do you see yourself challenging for the same title though, considering the clear difference in... uhh... conditioning between yourself and the other contenders?
Lew guffaws.
Lew: He's calling you fat!
Kiddo: I know what he's saying, Lew.
Brunswick: I didn't mean to offend, all I meant was... you're a bigger guy than we're really used to seeing, do you think your size is going to be an issue in any way?
Kiddo: Not really. It's a non-factor, and I haven't cared 'bout being called fat since I was twelve. Maybe thirteen to be honest - I found out I could drop a punk for disrespecting me when I was twelve, so by the time I was thirteen nobody dared to call me fat.
Brunswick: Would you agree that you have something different to bring to what is already a strong PRW roster, in a company that seems to be moving with the times?
Kiddo: I know that I'm special, son. You'll never see another belly move like I do. I'm coming into this company off the back of consistent, sustained success; I put away meatheads my whole career, that's just what I do. I can stand up to any of the kids on this roster and drop them on their heads, and put them away for the three count.
A dancer starts to circle around Lew and Kiddo. Glossy nails tap-tap intently on the back of their chairs, and the table before them. Kiddo cracks out a crisp note for the girl, a toothed grin slapped on his face. Her delicate hands swipe the note. She swirls her locks - dark and red - away from her face. Her lips - red and dark - smack against his cheek.
Brunswick: Can I ask why you spend so much money in strip clubs?
Kiddo: I work hard to give good girls a good life.
Kurt brings his hand up to his chin and strokes the bush of his beard. The dancer climbs atop Kiddo straddling him, swishing back her hair.
Kiddo: Have you any more questions?
Brunswick: Just one - have you any parting words to the audience, fans at home or maybe some words of warning to the PRW roster you are soon to join?
Kiddo: No, I think I've said enough. Talk's cheap. The other fighters don't need a warning to know I'm coming; they'll know I'm here when they feel my size thirteen boots right up in their face.
Brunswick: It's been a great pleasure finally meeting you, Mr. Kiddo. I'd shake your hand but you look a little occupied.
Kiddo acknowledges Brunswick with a nod, smirk and quick thumbs up before diverting his hand onto the collarbone and shoulder of the dancer mounted upon him.
Dancer: Touching's extra.
Kiddo: Baby, I have extra for every girl in this building.
Exit.
