Sitting in a very intimate and small but well furnished setting, Josh Brunswick is sitting across from Alexander Owens . He looks calm and relaxed, the battle scars of Summerfest nearly faded into the light green and yellows of week old bruises. He is sitting and smiling, seemingly joking around a bit before the interview starts rolling. A cue comes forth and the show is on.
Brunswick: Hello and welcome. Josh Brunswick here with the “Last Outlaw” Alexander Owens. Good evening and always a pleasure getting a sitdown with you Mr.Owens.
Owens: Evening Josh. Glad to be here and the sentiment is the same. And might I say you’re looking sharp tonight. Got some plans after talking to my beat carcass. *Chuckle*
Brunswick: No plans, just dressing for the job. If I may start off, your match at Summerfest against Gunner Wuher is already being called a classic by a number of people in the upper echelons of wrestling. What is your thoughts on that?
Owens: Summerfest was a hoot Josh. Squaring up against Wuher was a pleasure. He’s a helluva of wrestler and a helluva guy. I will honestly say that after out tussle, we shared a few beers as sign of mutual admiration. I may of not liked his mouth and personality pre-Summerfest, but after that battle he had my respect just like I’m sure I had his.
Brunswick: That’s great to hear. A great deal of words were shared between you two; mostly concerning the matter of respect. It is great to hear that the goal was met. There has been some rumbles and mummers of displeasure with the inconclusive finish. What is your thoughts on that?
Owens shifts in his seat a bit, his body language conveying some deep thought in the making.
Owens: You know, I have heard some of those mummers as well and I’ve got a two words for those grumblings: Shove it. Everyone one is an expert and armchair general when they get to work in the abstract. The simple fact is Wuher and I put on a spectacle and it end with neither of us get the W. But sometimes not winning says more about man than winning. Each of us got what we were looking for out of that match. Plain and simple.
Shuffling through some cards, Brunswick has a small smile on his face.
Brunswick: Understood. Moving on, a lot has happened in the last week. John Bane has arranged and set up a massive ladder match at Clash of the Titan for the now seemingly vacant X-title. The current short list for match is a who’s who of the titleless PRWers with Bane and Carlos Cruz already confirmed for it as well as your Summerfest opponent Wuher? People have been asking and now I am: Are you looking to throw your hat into the ring so to say?
Cracking his signature farm boy grin, the one that makes his green eyes shine like neon, Owens fields his answer.
Owens: A great question Josh. I’m not gonna beat around the bush: I plan on taking part in that tussle in Australia. Bane been flapping his gums about the honor and prestige he brought to that title. You know, I use to watch hold on that thing when we traveled together. I honestly believed he loved and cherished that thing more than anything else he’s ever had in his life. Come August 20th, I’m gonna break him from the illusion that he’ll ever hold it again. As for Cruz; every multi man match needs a seat filler. That’s where the always reliable loser Cruz comes in. Finally when it come to Wuher...I look forward to crossing path with him and getting it settled on who really is the better man.
Owens leans back; confidently and full of the humble yet confident swagger of old.
Brunswick: That is phenomenal to hear and I am sure it set to be a great match. One last thing before we go. Alex LeBlanc recently resurfaced and has gone on record that he is interested is sharing the ring with you again. And just today a rumor has been swirling that he may be gunning for a spot in the ladder match? Your thoughts on all that if you would please?
As sly smirk cross Owens’s face; he utters what is sure to be match match that might set off the fire that X-title picture is quickly becoming.
Owens: I was not surprised to hear about either of those things. And I’m also not surprised that LeBlanc would want to get involved in the whole shebang. He and I may be near polar opposite on a lot of things but we always seems to drift to where the biggest buzz and best talent is going to be. The difference this time is going to be that I’m not the underdog coming into the impossible fight. When it come to Clash of the Titans: LeBlanc,Bane, Cruz, Wuher, who ever in the blue hell wants to get involved; they’re not coming into fight with man that got anything to prove than what he and they already know. The bar is set high for greatness in this match but me...I am the bar. I am the measuring stick of greatness. And some the 21st, I’m gonna have the metal to prove it. Now if you don’t mind Josh I’ve got flight to catch.
Owens stands and gives Brunswick a wink and handshakes; scooting off to his prior business.
Brunswick: There you have it. A fourth man has entered the into the running for X-title at COTT and his name is Alexander Owens. This has been Josh Brunswick; stay safe and stay tuned PTW faithful for more news on this runaway train of a story.
