Owen Drive
Amateur
This past weekend Owen Drive was in his hometown of Toronto Canada doing some sponsorship work for cancer. Bless his heart Owen helped raised close to 20,000 dollars for the cause, one which we should all support, helping send kids with cancer to summer camp.

Owen: You know one of the most precious things in life is a kid’s smile. I’m lucky enough to provide kids with that everyday in the ring, but today is a special day because the money we raise here today will help send these kids who have cancer to summer camp.

Camp Oochigeas is a camp for children with cancer to go to. Providing them with a safe environment and a summer loaded with fun these kids get a chance to go and enjoy the summer and living a valuable thing called life.

Owen: To see these kids fighting off something that they didn’t even pick to have and be embraced with a fight to survive everyday, but then come here (Owen gets watery eyes) sorry, to come here and see how happy they are knowing there going to camp is something I’ll never forget in my life.

The Sporting Life 10K run is a fundraiser to help raise money so these kids could take part in the activities that help at camp Oochigeas. Just a bit over 27,000 people showed up to do the run and all donation’s go to the fundraiser.

With Owen Drive there it also spread the word around PRW as Carlos and Naomi Cruz were their. Meeting kid and signing autographs for them they helped raise close to 2,500 dollars for the cause.

Carlos: As soon as JSD talked to me about it I just knew it was the right thing to do and well I went to church and spread the word there. They helped raise this 2,500 dollars and Naomi and I are proud to represent not only PRW but our church as well. Just a reminder you can still vote online at http://www.ooch.org/sportinglife10k we want you to check out the website for pictures and also to make a donation. This run is going to be awesome!

Naomi: And your finishing the run too baby hahaha

Carlos: Oh stop it.

Asking to speak at the park where people were Owen Drive has this to say.

Owen: Lately I’ve been talking about believing. People say seeing is believing. Today I see over 27,000 people here to make a difference… Over 27,000 people believe in a good cause one which I’m proud to be apart of.

With PRW being apart of this amazing fundraiser the commissioner himself was their making a donation on PRW behalf. Sean Aries along with Emily who were there to hand a cheque of 20,000 dollars on behalf of PRW, and with Owen on stage he reaches for the microphone off Owen Drive.

Aries: Thanks Owen. When Owen told me about this I knew it was the right thing to do and PRW is matching his donation of 20,000 dollars on behalf of PRW and would like to say this is a great cause and were glad to be about it.

Carlos and Naomi are with Owen, Aries and Emily at the front of the line. As soon as the gun goes off they take off for their run.

People can still make donations online and we encourage you to do so.

By the time it finished we got caught up with some of the PRW representatives.

Carlos: We did it baby!

Naomi: Yeah we did! 10k ran all the way wooooo.

Carlos: Yeah! I love you Naomi.

Naomi: Love you too baby we did it!

Aries and Emily are seen drinking water and handing out water bottles to the people crossing the finish line.

Aries: We did the run, but wanted to help out even more so we our volunteering by handing out water bottles for the people crossing the finish line.

Finally catching up with Owen Drive he’s with JSD.

Owen: This guy almost quit on me but we did it all 10k.

JSD: I’m dying here.

Owen: Your just out of shape buddy now come on let’s go help out somewhere.

Camp Ooch is a great place for kids to enjoy the summer and will give them a chance to enjoy life instead of worrying about there next appointment. You can still donate online at http://www.ooch.org/sportinglife10k and volunteer with them on the website.

Owen is shown back on stage.

Owen: Thank you for believing in the good heart. Stay positive guys your all awesome and thank you so much for helping raise the money we did today. You’ve just made some kids summer one he or she will never forget. Stay good everyone.
