Fighting words from the Suzuki Army
As June 2nd and his faction’s showdown with Team Onslaught approaches, Minoru Suzuki today recorded a video message for Slaughter and Kazama. When the head and namesake of the Suzuki Gundam (Army) learned that the PRW was scouting Japanese talent for their Summerfest preshow Suzuki personally asked that his group be given a match with Onslaught, explaining in his video message how the PRW duo have been making his stomach turn ever since the charity show that PRW produced one year ago on behalf of Fukushima disaster victims.
Suzuki explained that when he met Slaughter and Kazama backstage the Onslaught team was very polite and respectful to their Japanese guests, and that that showing of respect made Suzuki want to throw up. The former Pancrase star talked about how utterly sick he got of hearing fans clamoring about Onslaught and how they kept banging into that glass ceiling for a while, and said that if Pat & Takato had any real fighting spirit in them they would have shattered that “glass ceiling” a long time ago.
Suzuki said that he requested a match between Onslaught and the Gundam because he wants to show the fans what a real top team that can dominate looks like. He promised Onslaught that the Gundam is going to bring the heat to them fast and hard, saying that the Army is going to beat the PRW duo like the ‘stupid mark otaku’ they are.
Toshie Uematsu out, Emi Sakura in
PRW announced today that joshi puroresu veteran Toshie Uematsu will no longer be taking place in the Summer Carnival event. Uematsu retired from pro wrestling at a WAVE event on April 30, and due to the fiasco over Kaori Yoneyama’s false retirement last December felt that is was best to pull out of the Summerfest preshow event. However the PRW also announced that taking her place in the two stage single night tournament will be another veteran of the joshi scene, former Ice Ribbon matron Emi Sakura.
A 17 year pro, Sakura has been working freelance since departing Ice Ribbon in January, and said that she chose to take Uematsu’s place in the Summer Carnival so that she can use the PRW payday, and the cash prize if she wins the elimination match, to help her establish women’s wrestling in Bangkok Thailand. Emi Sakura now joins her students Miyako Matsumoto and Ray, as well as fellow Japanese stars Kana and Ayumi Kurihara as they all vie for spots in the 6 woman elimination match that will headline the Summer Carnival event.
As a reminder… Apocalypse 2012 DVD/bluray on sale now Superbattle 2012 coming soon to home release Patrick Slaughter Presents: Fortified on iPPV, May 27 Summer Carnival June 2, tickets going fast Summerfest 2KXII on PPV June 10, tickets still available
