PRW Announces Special Summerfest Pre-Show & the Second Women’s Tournament!
As the PRW gears up for it’s biggest show of the year the company announced today that it will partner with Phoenix Entertainment Media Group to present the first ever Summer Carnival special event. Taking place in the heart of the twenty-third annual A-Kon anime convention being held in Dallas TX the weekend before Summerfest, the special event will see stars of the PRW doing battle with stars of the Japanese puroresu scene. A one night only six woman elimination match will headline the show, with a cash prize, a trophy, and a spa & resort getaway for two going to the winner.
Looking at the receipts for the inaugural Lioness Cup tournament held earlier this year, PRW commissioner The Inquisitor decided “why not?” and gave the OK for the new Summer Carnival tournament. Twelve women (including five special Japanese guests) will compete in six qualifying matches, and the winners will then face each other until only one is left standing. The whole show will be made available on DVD, and it will also be included in the special four-disc collector’s edition of Summerfest 2KXII for all of the hardcore PRW fanatics out there.
In an effort to attract new fans the PRW will be allowing convention attendees to purchase tickets at a highly discounted rate, and will even be keeping 500 of the 4,500 seats reserved for convention goers to walk in free with their weekend badges. The company feels that the otaku set is tailor made for pro wrestling (with their proclivity of following bizarre characters and convoluted storylines), and wants to tap this potential market ahead of the blockbuster Summerfest event. And of course the PRW will be all over the convention trying to sell tickets for the event, taking place in neighboring Arlington at the massive Cowboys Stadium the following Sunday.
The special Summer Carnival will also provide PRW fans in the area that can’t make it to Summerfest a chance to see some of their favorite superstars live, plus the added bonus of international guests. Tickets for the Summer Carnival itself go on sale this Monday, badges for the convention are on sale now, PRW Fortified is available on iPPV Sunday May 27, and of course tickets for Summerfest are still available.
