New Undisputed Champion, Thomas Driver, recently spoke with MidWrestling.com about winning the title, the new website and tonight's show in Des Moines. Check out the highlights:
On winning the title at Apocalypse: "I know this sounds cliché, but it hasn't entirely sunk in yet. I've held the thing for less than a day and I keep forgetting that I'm the champion. I'm afraid I'm going to drop the thing and have to buy PRW a new one. [laughs] I don't want to think too much about it because I've got to face Matthew Logan in a few weeks. We have some history and I need to be at my best."
On Ace Andrews: "He's going to be out for me, I know that much. Worse, he's probably going to steer Lion and T.K. in my direction. Now that they're title-less, they'll be hungrier than ever. If you think you're interested in seeing how this goes just think about how I feel. Not going to be pretty, I can tell you that."
On being a leader of the locker room: "I've never considered myself much of a leader, at least not of the entire locker room. I've led groups and contingents but as champ you're expected to lead the boys in the back. A lot of them don't like me, but even less of them like Ace. Hopefully it'll work out. With Alex basically abandoning his position as general it looks like there's room for me to step in. I'm glad to, if it means I can stop Ace and Lion."
On the future of PRW: "There's a lot of young talent in PRW, future Undisputed Champions and guys who can really connect with the fans. I've taken Jude under my wing, sure, but there's plenty of talent to be had. Look at the X-Division match last night. Bukowski put on one hell of a match with Joey. Now a lot of people will say that's NOX's doing but Terry held his own. Look at someone like Sylvia. She's definitely a future Undisputed Champion. Patrick Slaughter, Canary Kid, really all of these kids are destined to do great things in PRW. Some already have."
On SuperBattle: "I'm interested in seeing how tonight goes, because that'll give me a better opinion of SuperBattle. This year there are a few guys who can definitely win the thing. Alex, Ace, Patrick, Wrath, Aries... the list is endless. I need to know who's in the match before I can even begin to guess a winner. Seriously, come on down and check us out. Things are picking up, you don't want to miss it."
On the website: "You'll find out if you check out tonight's show. There is a reason for it but I'm not saying a word about it. At least not yet."
