In anticipation of the upcoming PRW draft, PRW offices held the first ever PRW Combine Workout at a local park in Boise, Iadho . The coaching staffs for Team Aries, Team 6Pac Shakur as well as various CFL teams were confirmed to have attended as well as over 200 fans. There were even rumors that some NFL scouts took time out of their busy schedule to watch the fine athletes of PRW perform 6 different drills. The hopes is that with these drills completed, Team Aries and Team 6Pac will have a better view as to what they want out of their players.
First let's profile the two coaching squads that will be scouting and eventually drafting these players:
Team Aries- Head Coach Sean Aries, Assistant Coach Emily Hart, Directors of Scouting Grace Aries and The Freight Train
Team 6Pac Shakur- Head Coach 6Pac Shakur, Assistant Coach Eazy Aki, Directors of Scouting Snoop Doggy Dudley and Dr. Dre Kirkpatrick
Let's look at the wrestlers. These 20 superstars are vying for 10 select spots in the PRW draft!
NoNeck 5Count- Future wrestling Hall Of Famer. Owner of no neck.
Terry Bukowski- Former football player, the man most likely to win Breakout Star of 2012 according to many. Won a bronze in the 2011 Mullet of the Year awards.
Dr. Frankensteiner- Future Hall of Fame and Nobel Prize Winner. Master of the Frankensteiner and has a PhD when it comes to scaring Indian people.
Andre Holmes- A newcomer to PRW but not a newcomer to the wrestling ring.
T.K.- Mammoth of a man. Holds a win over Patrick Slaughter.
Takato Kazama- 1/2 of current PRW Tag Team Champions. Perennial fan favorite. Likes to read girly comics. Distant relative of Ichiro Suzuki.
Canary Kid- One of the most hated men in PRW. Former X-Division Champion. Athletic if unmolded.
Alex LeBlanc- 2 Time PRW Undisputed Champion. 2 Time PRW Tag Team Champion. Known to yell at things. Loved for his all out intensity and passion.
Travis Levitt- Former PRW X Division Champion. Pirate ship enthusiast.
Malik Logan- Former PRW tag team title holder. All around nice guy.
Matthew Logan- Most hated man in the history of PRW. Multiple time champion. Chicago native who roots for the WhiteSox. Has a nobel prize in evil.
Ninja MAGIC- A future PRW superstar. Has an awkard relationship with Scott Baio.
Vance Majors- PRW newcomer with a few matches under his belt. Opened eyes vs Joey NOX.
Joey NOX- Former PRW Undisputed Champion. Fomer two tag PRW Tag Champion.
Raider Rock- $5 Wrestling Americas title holder. Believer in the three I's of Kurt Angle. Is too hardcore for soft punks.
Tommy Rocket- PRW newcomer with plenty of sizzle. A potential laden talent.
Patrick Slaughter- 1/2 of the current tag team champions. Perennial fan favorite renown for his toughness and positive attitude. Hopes to have a vertical leap good enough to break the glass ceiling.
Mr. Turner- Developing PRW talent. Is known for his hard work ethic and relationship with that guy from The Waterboy.
Sylvia Wrath- 2011's PRW wrestler of the year. A rising talent who defies the odds and gender boundaries. Had to be briefed about the draft in detail because the Japanese don't play it.
Adam Xclusiv- A wrestler recovering from a slumpish 2011. Hated by fans but respected by fellow wrestlers for his nasty demeanor.
The wrestlers competed or participated in six different events designed to test their athletic ability, mental abilities and most importantly their wrestling abilities. The events are as follows and in their actual order:
1) The Wonderlic: Wrestlers are to take a 50 question test in 15 minutes to test the cognitive abilities of a wrestler. Tests have been donated by the Christopher Nowitski brain institute. 10 is considered literate, 20 is a football player's intelligence and 30 is a chemist. A perfect score is 50.
2) The 40 Yard Dash: A 40 yard sprint meant to evaluate speed at the "pro level". This is often the most exciting of all combine events for some reason.
3) The Bench Press: Wrestlers are to bench 225 lbs as many times as they can without stopping. This is the 2nd most entertaining Combine test for some reason. Spotting the wrestlers on the bench would be PRW Hall of Famer and generally insane guy Art McLellan.
4) The Finisher Challenge: A test of a wrestler's ability to finish. The wrestler is given a local talent and is given five minutes to pin or submit that wrestler with his finisher. The faster the finish the better.
5) Five Minute Jobber Challenge: The wrestler takes on an assortment of local preliminary wrestlers in a five minute maximum time limit. The wrestler is then asked to pin, submit or KO as many jobbers as he can in that five minute span. If the wrestler taking the challenge is pinned or submitted, he or she loses a tally.
6) The Wrestler Wonderlic: Similar to the a fore mentioned Wonderlic test for cognitive abilities, this one is a test designed to test the wrestlers overall in-ring IQ, awareness and knowledge of the business. Much like the Wonderlic, it's 50 questions in 15 minutes.
The Grading Scale: 50-41: I know everything about wrestling ever. I should teach wrestling I know it so well. I could recite the entire card for Heroes of Wrestling with my eyes closed.
40-31: I am a smart wrestler who knows my business but I could know more in some areas. I'm a perfectionist.
30-21: I'm somewhat intelligent about my business but could use more knowledge and or experience.
20-11: I know wrestling from 2009 onwards. Don't ask me 'bout this supposed Attitude Era.
10-0: What do lock up mean?
Wrestlers were also forced to partake in physicals and drug tests. Not surprisingly, at least half of them failed in one or both forms of testing. It's rumored those who did pass were bumped down the draft value chart of Sean Aries and 6Pac Shakur.
