OVER 9000!!!
After much discussion, PRW executives have convinced Joey NOX to send another email out to the fans. This one, entitled "One Kick" arrived at PRW offices late Saturday night and was rushed to the site. Joey NOX has promised at least one more prior to Blackout.

Hello once again my lovely PRW fans!

It appears the last little shindig I did ruffled up some feathers and stirred up some interest in reading more from your X-Division #1 contender. I never intended this to be some sort of series, I just wanted to give you fans a much needed peek into what goes into the madness that occurs at PRW-land. It's great to hear that so many of you took a liking to it but I warn you not to get comfortable. There's a good chance that there could come a time where these little letters are sporadic or just flat out defunct. Much like your roster, enjoy it while it lasts.

Rather than get into more gritty backstage talk about who is what and how they interact, I'm going to give you guys a peek into how I'm preparing for Ninja MAGIC. See at Blackout, I finally get a chance to get back into the ring against Ninja MAGIC. Making matters a little more enticing is the title will be on the line. Contrary to popular belief, I do train for each of my opponents. One of the benefits of the PRW system is that there's more time between shows which means you can train extensively for each opponent. It's a little different if you're operating on a week to week schedule and are essentially forced to adapt by the week. It doesn't hurt that I've had since December to adequately prepare for this guy either. To make matters even better, MAGIC doesn't talk so it's not like I've got to worry about engaging in a banter battle.

I don't want to bore anyone with the amount of time I've spent training cardio. Noone wants to hear how many miles I ran and in what kind fo weather. Noone cares if I pounded the pavement or got on a treadmill. That's dull. See I've spent a lot of time studying Ninja MAGIC, his matches in PRW primarily. Sure I could dig up some grainy footage in a half filled gymnasium in Cali to pad my prep but that's a waste of time and resources. In my last letter I mentioned watching my matches vs Ninja MAGIC over but I assure you that's merely for reflective purposes. It's too easy to get emotionally attached to your matches and so those matches are useless. Instead I've focused on every one of his matches in PRW except those. I saw some good stuff from Slaughter and Levinator which I plan to use. It's no secret that muscling MAGIC around is a good strategy and I'm more than strong enough to make that strategy work.

Allow me to lend you a clue and let you in on a little secret. Ready? The key to Ninja MAGIC's offense is the Ninja Vanish superkick. His entire offense is predicated around getting into just that right spot and just right moment to execute the Ninja Vanish. Making matters worse of course is the fact that I've been a sucker for the superkick my entire career. There's nothing wrong with saying that since I'm sure Ninja MAGIC already knows my weaknesses. For my entire career, the superkick has remained a hole in my game. Anybody who has a superkick (a good one mind you) is going to give me trouble. Alex LeBlanc won countless matches with his superkick. Countless countless agonizing matches. The fact that Ninja MAGIC has a tremendous superkick? Well that makes it all the more dangerous. In my matches with Ninja, he found a way to hit me with it and I barely survived. Barely. In a title match, I have no interest in eating a kick to the face. There's always the chance that if he hits that Ninja VANISH, I go to sleep for the 3 count.

Luckily for me, this free time has given me to manufacture a strategy to remove that little tidbit entirely. I've dissected the move. I've studied every possible opportunity he uses to hit the move. I've studied the nuances and variances of his superkick. I have devoted close to a month on this one move. If he beats me then that's the way the cards fall but he will not and cannot beat me with a superkick. I will make damn sure of it.

It doesn't hurt that I train with Alex LeBlanc on a consistent basis. Now that Shawn Michaels has hung the boots up, Alex has the best superkick in the game. I know that from getting konked with it repeatedly. We've worked very hard on finding ways to avoid it. To counter it. Alex LeBlanc has worked tirelessly teaching me the move and the psychology behind it. He's come at me full force, sometimes he hits it and sometimes he doesn't. The best part about it is that now when I get caught, I know why. Every day I learn something new about the move and every day, I develop a counter for it. Where as some people see failure, I see growth and maturity.

There's the slightest chance that Ninja MAGIC can read and/or has access to a computer so I won't go into detail on the counters. I'll just say that they're plenty and vary from situation to situation. It could range from basic ju-jitsu stuff to flat out ugliness. Hell some of the best counters are the simplest (if you hear the crowd getting amped, hit the ground). The point I'm trying to make is that I know Ninja MAGIC has geared himself up for this one major move. It's his calling card. It's his bread and butter and it's his way to a victory.

And as Bruce Lee once said, "I fear not the man who has practiced 10000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10000 times."

He's got one kick...but he only needs one shot to make it count. He ain't gettin it.

Til next time friends,

Joey NOX
