Lioness Cup Night Two Results
Thursday March 1, 2012
Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena, Spokane, Washington

The Lioness Cup continued Thursday night at the Spokane Arena, just five hours east across I-90 of the location for next month’s Blackout PPV. With nearly twelve-thousand people in attendance the house was virtually full, although PRW officials still reported it as being sold out. In the undercard Josh Phoenix led the Enigma and Edward Grey to victory over Malibu’s Most Wanted in a captain’s fall two-of-three falls trios match, Ninja MAGIC and Scott Baio defeated Mr. Turner and Henry Winkler in a wrestler/has been mixed tag team match, and Terry Bukowski defeated Tommy Nova in a brawl that was considered a “real barn burner.”

-The Tournament-

Bob Saget explained the format of the tournament and the current point standings for the handful of people in attendance that weren’t aware, and after the slick opening video package played we went to Gemma Traumaward in the press room backstage. She revealed that she’ll be facing Jenna Jett in the opening contest tonight and said that she’s pleased. She put over Jenna’s technical skills with a but, and then claimed to have the best bridge in professional wresting. Gemma spoke with great passion about her bridge, saying that she often walks to the store en pointe and that she can apply a bridge to any Suplex or hold. She acknowledged that Jenna has a nice bridge as well, but that her’s is so perfect Jenna has only read about it in her wrestling textbooks. When she left to head to the ring the feed cut to Jenna Jett somewhere else backstage, in progress as her jaw hanged agape. Jenna gave the camera a Matt Logan face and then started making her way to gorilla.

Gemma was the first to make her entrance and got another mild new-guy reaction, although there were a few more cheers this time thanks to the highlight videos the company has been putting out. The Neko Girl did solicit a nice pop when she climbed a corner and flipped her pink hair, and more importantly when she hitched up the top of her thigh high socks (and early reports of #absoluteterritory trending were just a joke started by a group of otaku in attendance). Jenna Jett was out next to a virtually flipped crowd, slightly mild but definitely negative for Matt Logan’s protégé. Jett was wearing a black version of Meiko Satomura’s singlet and sash outfit, and she and Gemma stared each other down before the opening bell of this cutie vs. femme fatale showdown.

BLOCK A: Gemma Traumaward vs. Jenna Jett

The match started at a fast pace with a lot of rope running, with both women trading arm drags and head scissors takedowns, and Traumaward won the exchange with a top rope walk into a springboard arm drag. After that they took the contest to the mat and wrestled around for a few minutes, mostly position jockeying and reversing holds, and Jett was mostly in control of that. At one point Jenna went for a flying jujigatame armbar but Gemma bridged her way out of the hold and took Jett’s back, rolling into a bridge for an early Cattle Mutilation attempt, but Jett rolled with her to block it and then they scrambled back to their feet. Traumaward then scored with a vertical Suplex with a bridge, a Butterfly Suplex with a bridge, and a bridging Fallaway Slam (Cutie Special) each for a count of two.

What followed could possibly be described as hold-for-hold trench warfare (or a stretch-fest) as both women tortured each other for a few minutes of one-upmanship. Traumaward started by putting Jett in an Indian Death Lock, then she put Le Tigre in an Indian Death Lock combined with a Butterfly Hold, then Gemma got Jenna back into an Indian Death Lock and combined it with an Octopus Hold, then Jett put her opponent into a standard Muta Death Lock, and finally Pinky put Jett into her own Muta Death Lock and bridged back to combo it with a back-to-back full nelson. She eventually broke the hold and went for her finisher, the Scoop Tombstone, but Jenna jujitsu’d her way out of the hold and rolled Traumaward into an armbar/kneebar combination.

Gemma got a ropebreak but Jett got some good damage done, and then countered a roundhouse kick into an ankle lock. Jenna hooked her legs around the Neko Girl’s other leg for a double ankle lock to anchor her away from the ropes, so she bit the bullet and bridged back over Jenna to synch in a cover. The fans almost went off but Jett released the double ankle lock to just barely kick out before three. Traumaward tried to catch her opponent with a desperation Koppou Kick but Jett dodged it, took control of the leg for an STF, and then rearranged the arms for a Step-Over Cobra Clutch. Pinky tried to make it to the ropes but couldn’t crawl fast enough, so she started pulling Jett’s hair to force her to ease the cobra hold.

She then took control of one of Jett’s arms and started bending it the anatomically incorrect way, and Jett had to break her hold to save her arm from getting injured. But she knew exactly how to roll out of the hold and set up Traumaward for the Tsunami DDT, she walked off the ropes but Gemma managed to reverse the move into a Northern Lights Suplex with an incredible tip-of-the-toes bridge. Jenna barely kicked out and then Traumaward called for “Tiger Style!” With her legs starting to buckle Le Tigre set up for the Tiger Suplex, but Jett countered out of it and scored with a big floating Inoki Enzugiri, and then rolled her into the Crucifix Can Opener hold for a tap-out!

Result: Jenna Jett def. Gemma Traumaward via submission

Jenna Jett acted very tough and ‘gangster’ before disappearing behind the curtain, but once she was in the press room she was elated. She yelled about her win and sold it as if she had just tapped-out Daniel Bryan, and then warned Sylvia Wrath that she’ll be facing the same fate at the next show. Gemma came into the press room after Jett left and was pretty bummed out over losing, but at least found solace in the fact that now whenever Jenna performs, sees, or crosses a bridge, she’ll think of the Neko Girl.

Back to the ring WRATH was the next to make her entrance, wearing a black Loli dress this time and a single white iris lens for the Manson tribute. She appeared focused like a laser as the crowd offered her some words of encouragement, but then they started booing when Sherri Taylor came out next. Still pretty sour over her loss last week, Sherri stole and ripped up as many Emily Hart signs as she could until she got in the ring. WRATH tried to mean mug Sherri to death but she just flipped her hair with a big “puh-leez,” and then the opening bell rang.

BLOCK B: WRATH vs. Sherri Taylor

Both women tried to throw down out of the gate but WRATH quickly took control using her size and strength. She whooped her more experienced opponent around for a while until Taylor turned the tide with a rake of the eyes, punching the Wallflower into a corner and climbing up the ropes for the ten-punch spot. Sherri stopped before the tenth punch to taunt the fans, and the Lolicon Devil made her pay for it by walking her out of the corner and hitting a Powerbomb. She mounted Taylor for some ground & pound action until the ref got her to back off, but she went back on the attack as Sherri pulled herself up in a corner. The ref had to force a break and Taylor went after WRATH with punches, until she got tossed back by the bigger woman with an Exploder Suplex.

The Texas Terror then went for a Roaring Elbow but Sherri dodged it, then she ducked under a spinning back fist, but ultimately fell prey to a big headbutt. WRATH pulled Taylor into a fireperson’s carry to set up her finisher, but Sherri climbed off of her shoulders and then exited the ring. Taylor got knocked down on the floor with a baseball slide, but when WRATH went for a springboard blind tope Sherri walked out of the way and let her crash hard on the floor. The Dark Child almost lost to a count-out but managed to roll back into the ring before ten, and as soon as she did Taylor started beating her down. After stomping on her for a while Sherri hit a flurry of elbow drops and knee drops, and then dragged her up to nail an Evenflow DDT. But to Taylor’s surprise and the fans’ delight WRATH managed to kickout at two.

Sherri shoved the ref out of her way as she marched into a corner and hunched down to set up for the spear, but as she charged in for the move WRATH lifted her up into a fireperson’s carry and spun her around before hitting the Death Valley Bomb. The fans popped for the move called Isaac’s Storm, and it allowed Death Chan a moment to breathe before both women got back on their feet. WRATH got Taylor in a cutthroat hold and lifted her up for a Scoop Brainbuster, the Rasputin Curse, but she slipped out of the hold and then pulled WRATH down by the hair into an over-the-knee Neckbreaker. Sherri then slapped on a Figure Four Necklock for the rest hold spot, and the Lolicon Devil eventually rallied the fans and hulked up enough to pull Taylor up into an Electric Chair drop. When they both got back up she grabbed Sherri’s hand and went for the cutthroat hold, but Taylor countered out of it and scored with an Evenflow DDT, and then pulled WRATH back up and hit a second Evenflow DDT for a three count.

Result: Sherri Taylor def. WRATH via pinfall

Sherri did the knee on the chest Akira Hokuto pose on WRATH to rile up the fans before walking to the back, and when the ref tried to help her up the Lolicon Devil shoved him away and stormed off backstage. In the press room Sherri wished Regan luck in her match against Emily later tonight, but then said that her luck will run out this Sunday when they face off. She laughed about it but wished WRATH luck as well against Emily on Sunday, and said that she is going to swim to the top of Block B while the rest of the girls flounder at the bottom. WRATH came in after her and said nothing; she just sat down in front of the camera and held her head, rubbed her face, and looked pretty distressed before leaving.

Bella Quinn made her way down to the ring to a few more cheers from last time, probably due in part to putting Jenna Jett in her place, and then requested the house mic. She talked about how her career momentum started waning after Sylvia Wrath and Lucy Hawke won the tag titles, and how it came to a dead stop after Violence, Party of Three split up. She said she’s been waiting to get this off of chest for a while, and that she and Sylvia are still friends, but then pretty much blamed Sylvia for the split up. In a single breath she blamed Sylvia for losing the trios tournament, not keeping her word about Freebirding the tag titles, and finally for splitting up the group by making a deal with the Inquisitor for a singles push.

Sylvia Wrath entered next to a huge pop and eschewed the normal entrance antics, getting on a second mic to respond to Bella. She told her they could have talked about this at any time, and felt slightly embarrassed that she choose to air their dirty laundry right here in Spokane Washington (cheap pop). She said that a) she was entirely within her rights to begin a run at the Undisputed title, and that she worked very hard to finally get her shot at Blackout in Seattle (another pop). B) She wanted to do the Freebird rule when V,Po3 had the belts but didn’t get the chance, and that c) she’s taken too many shots to the head to remember the semi-finals of the Three Ring Circus almost a year later, but did seem to remember Bella being their and not saving her from getting pinned.

Bella responded by saying that she already has enough drama in her life trying to break out of the undercard and taking care of her unwed best friend and her baby, but then said that she’s needed to do this for a while. She said that they both have a few unresolved feelings about the whole Violence run and that now would be a great time to work it out and get over it. Sylvia agreed and then offered to buy Bella a few drinks at some local bar after the show for another cheap pop, and Bella agreed to that. They slapped hands and tossed the mics away before the ref called for the bell.

BLOCK A: Bella Quinn vs. Sylvia Wrath

The fans were hot as Quinn and Wrath struggled in a forceful collar-n-elbow before throwing down. They hammered each other with a flurry of forearms and Sylvia won the exchange, and then backed Bella into the ropes with heavy kicks. She whipped the Scotswoman and they did the typical rope running spot, with Quinn coming out on top with a dropkick. She waited for the Wild One to rise and then ran for the ropes, but Blondie ran behind her and they did the Japanese rope running spot, and the Texan won this one with a big Lariat. She pulled Bella up and threw her around with three rolling gut wrench Suplexes and then set her up for the Cherry Bomb, but she slipped out of the lift and countered with an STO. Quinn rolled her over for the Boston Crab but Sylvia quickly flipped her over with her legs, and then floated over her and pulled her up with a gut wrench to hit the Cherry Bomb.

The Bruiser Cutie pulled her back up onto her shoulder and ran at a corner for the Oklahoma Stampede, but she slipped out behind and bonked Sylvia’s head on the top TB pad. Wrath turned around and Bella hit her with an STO in the corner, bouncing her head off of the middle pad. The Gladiatrix pulled her away from the ropes for a cover and got a two count, and then went after her legs for the Boston Crab again, but this time Sylvia countered her into a Triangle Choke. Quinn stayed on her feet and tried to fight it, she even started to lift Wrath up for the Rampage Slam but wasn’t strong enough to hit it, and Blondie jujitsu’d her into a cross armbar. She got to the ropes for a break and when Sylvia started pulling her up she tried to nail an overhead kick, but Wrath scouted it and moved out of the way. She dragged Bella up and hit her with a second Cherry Bomb, and then climbed a corner and did a gimmicky Super Kawaii Bomb call out before nailing the diving headbutt.

The fans thought it was over but Quinn kicked out right before three, and then Wrath called for another Cherry Bomb. The Wild Child dragged Bella up for the gut wrench but she blocked it, and then she made a long distance call to Ayumi Kurihara and dropped Sylvia on the top of her head with a scary Uranage Suplex. The fans freaked out as she went for the cover, and then went wild as Wrath kicked out. Quinn got on her feet and positioned Blondie in front of the corner, and then climbed the ropes and came off with a Moonsault press but her target rolled out of the way at the last second.

Both women staggered up to their feet and Sylvia struck first with a Yakuza Kick, but Bella was having none of it and got back up with the help of Fighting Spirit~! With a battle cry she ran into and took Wrath out with a running dropkick, and kept pounding her with a running dropkick every time she got back up. Sylvia tried to take her out with a spinning back fist but Quinn countered it with an overhead Pele kick to the fist, and then set her up for another Uranage, but this time she countered it and spiked Bella with a Northern Lights Bomb. The Bruiser Cutie did her Rosie the Riveter pose and then hit the third Cherry Bomb of the match to end it, winning with a cover.

Result: Sylvia Wrath def. Bella Quinn via pinfall

After the bell Sylvia and Bella hugged it out for a round of applause, and then left to the back together. In the press room they sat side by side in front of the camera, Bella said that even though she didn’t win she had a much better showing against the number one contender than anyone thought she would have. Sylvia said that Bella was tougher than she thought, and that she hoped that whoever has the book was taking notes. Bella laughed and then said that if she beats Gemma and if Jenna beats Sylvia on Sunday, they’ll be in a three way tie to win Block A. Sylvia said that those are both pretty big ifs, and then told Bella not to underestimate the Neko Girl. Bella wished Sylvia luck at Blackout and then they left together.

Regan Crowe came in after them and started running down Emily Hart. She said that as the final Women’s Champion she should be the female face of the PRW, but to her bemusement she had to share that status with Emily Hart. Regan said that she is a badass Übermensch and Emily is essentially a stoner’s housekeeper, and that while it’s cute that Emily is trying to reestablish herself in the ring, if she thinks she can do that at Regan’s expense then she is going to get stomped back into her place. She left and then Emily made her entrance to the ring; she was very over with the fans and did all the babyface tropes like high-fiving and hugging little kids. Regan came out next to a flipped reaction and didn’t even acknowledge the audience, purposefully ignoring them to focus on Emily.

-Main Event-
BLOCK B: Emily Hart vs. Regan Crowe

The match started hot with Hart running around and catching Crowe with arm drags, to which Regan responded with closed fists and hair-mares. Emily went for a springboard crossbody off the ropes but Crowe dodged it and started putting the boots to her, and then threw her around for a bit with Moolah-whips. Hart avoided a bulldog and then went for a satellite head scissors but Regan dropped her on her face and then went for a Suplex, but Emily was sandbagging her so she had to bust out the old school Slingshot Suplex off the ropes to take her down. Crowe then tossed Hart to the floor and followed her out, knocking her around with punches before whipping her into three sides of the railing in a row. She tried to Suplex Emily on the mats on the floor but she blocked it, and then reversed it and Suplexed Regan on the floor. Hart got back into the ring to break up the ref’s count, and then rallied the fans before taking Crowe out with a Suicide Dive.

They both got back in the ring and Emily scored with a Michinoku Driver, and then followed it up with a Falcon’s Arrow for a two count. She liked how Regan was lying near a corner and went up top, and then jumped off for the summersault double stomp but Crowe moved out of the way behind her. Regan quickly shot into Hart’s legs with a chop block and then started stomping on her legs, beating her up into the corner. She set up Emily for a Superplex but it was blocked, and then she got knocked off the ropes with elbows. Hart took to the air for a diving Huracanrana but Crowe walked out of the way and Emily jarred her knee on the landing, and Regan was right there to compound the problem with a kneebreaker. Some woo’s rang out as Crowe spun around to set up the Figure Four but Hart kicked her away and sent her out to the apron.

Emily went after her but Regan had her number with a stunner over the top rope, and then pulled her out and hung her legs over the middle rope to set up a hanging DDT to the floor. The fans were all ready to gasp but Hart crawled out to avoid it, and then the two women started brawling on the apron. Emily stunned Crowe with a back fist for a pop, and then sent the fans out of their seats by hitting Regan with a Sliced Bread #2 on the apron. But Hart landed awkwardly on the floor and tweaked her knee, and didn’t make it back to the apron until the ref’s count of seven. Crowe was ready to meet her with an elbow to the head, stunning her enough to drape her legs over the middle rope for a hanging shoot Piledriver(!) Emily just barely got a shoulder up before three and Regan wasted no time to lock her down with a sleeper hold.

Emily tried to get the ropes but Regan dragged her back down, and then she went to sleep and prompted the ref to do the hand raise-and-drop spot. Hart’s hand fell once, twice, and almost three times but she suddenly came back to life to pop the fans, and then hulked up back to her feet. Emily threw Crowe off with an arm drag and caught her with a different pinning combination every time she went to attack, but each time only got a two count. Regan shot in for Hart’s knee but she hopped up on Crowe’s kneeling leg and took her out with a Shining Axe Kick, and then pulled her up for the Hart Breaker but Regan countered it (outtanowhere) with an Ace Crusher.

Emily had the wisdom to roll out to the apron for safety and Crowe chased her out, and then they started jockeying for position on the ring apron. The fans were on the edge of their seats as Regan went for a Suplex off the apron, but Hart blocked it and ran with Crowe for another apron Shiranui, but Regan blocked that. She hooked in a waistlock on Emily and tried for a German Suplex to the floor, but Emily blocked that with elbows. She spun around on the apron for a back fist but Crowe ducked it, she then threw a wild haymaker but Hart ducked it, and then caught Regan in a fireperson’s carry and hit her with a Hart Breaker off the apron to the floor! The audience erupted as both women splayed out on the mats and then started an “Em!~i!~ly!” chant as they started crawling up. Emily made it back into the ring at eight but Regan only made it to the apron when the referee counted ten to end the match!

Result: Emily Hart def. Regan Crowe via count-out

The match got a standing ovation after the bell and Emily climbed the ropes to celebrate, and rather than fussing with the ref Regan just walked off to the back. Emily limped up the ramp and waved and bowed at the fans before disappearing behind the curtain to end the show.

In the press room she got an ice pack for her knee and put over Regan as a strong opponent. She said that she now has a win over two Women’s Champions and she can feel the wind against her back. Emily made it clear she didn’t want to take anything away from WRATH, her final group stage opponent, but said that she has momentum now and will ride it all the way to the finals. Finally she thanked the Spokane fans for coming out and said that she can’t wait to see the people in Eugene Oregon this Sunday.

She got up and limped to her locker room and the Inquisitor came into the press room next; he said that in the event of a tie on points by the end of the group stage the tied wrestlers will compete in special “overtime” matches after the main event Sunday night. Before leaving he also thanked the fans for coming out and encouraged the people at home to pre-order the Lioness Cup DVD set from the online store.

After that they filmed a segment in the parking lot with Sylvia, Bella, and Gemma all in their street clothes. They were loading their bags into a taxi when Bella asked if anyone had seen Sofia (Sylvia’s sister), and Sylvia shrugged it off by saying that, “she’s probably lurkin’ around somewhere, she’ll be fine.”

On the DVD that scene will cut directly to WRATH, lurking in a completely dark locker room with her long bleached hair lit by the light on the camera and obscuring her face. With her deep breathy in-character voice she lamented losing two straight matches, and that because she can’t advance to the finals she is going to punish Emily Hart. She said that it isn’t personal but someone has to ache like she aches, and on Sunday she will spoil Emily’s Cinderella story, and finally grabbed onto the camera lens to black out the scene.
