PRW It Takes Two Results
by Richard Steele
Who:PRW Where:Pearl At The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada When:December 9th, 2011 The Event:PRW It Takes Two
I had the opportunity to throw down my hard earned cash for the PRW's latest Internet Pay Per View, entitled "PRW It Takes Two". The show was built around a two stage tournament to crown a new pair of #1 contenders to the tag titles. Also on the card was the return of Matt Logan, a dream match of Alex LeBlanc vs Malik Logan and more Tracy Smothers/Sean Aries goodness. Let's get to it!
-Stream was scheduled to start at 7:30 PM. I ordered at 7:15 PM and got the PRW preview show featuring Joey NOX (with a borderline southern lisp), Alex LeBlanc in a super dapper suit, Patrick Slaughter (with thick nerd glasses) and Sean Aries wearing a Regan Crowe mascot head running down the card. They did a decent enough job I guess but when they were STILL doing a preview show at 7:35, I started to get worried. Turns out the show started late due to a late arriving crowd. For those who care about such a thing, Slaughter and Alex picked The Onslaught while Aries and Joey picked Death by 1,000 Kawada Kicks.
The show stream started at 7:45 PM with a mediocre looking pyro show and a commentary team of Brunswick and Emily Hart. Apparently Smith was unable to make it to the show because he's stuck in Canada for Christmas Carnage and Emily is part of the commentary team. She sounds goofy but surprisingly coherent.-
Death by 1,000 Kawada Kicks vs Written In The Cartwheels While this tournament is full of makeshift teams, Death by 1,000 Kawada Kicks has the ability to be a really good team. Written In The Cartwheels has the good Mr. Turner and the not-so-good Johnny Awesome. The match starts with Wrath and Johnny Awesome which is always fun; Wrath beating the piss out of Awesome like he was some new guy. The Pearl at the Palms seems to have good acoustics as I was able to hear a prominent "Fuck Him Up Wrath" chant during the opening fully. The partners switched out after Awesome tagged out/Wrath got bored and we got MAGIC vs Turner for a while which was fun. MAGIC broke out some lucha stuff on Turner, earning some pops for a wicked armdrag out of a tilt a whirl attempt. Turner didn't necessarily appreciate it and takes a powder to go with Awesome. A somewhat nifty spot occurs where Ninja MAGIC tries an over the top rope dive onto Awesome and Turner. Awesome ducks under and Turner catches MAGIC but Wrath baseball slides into a rising Johnny Awesome and sends him flying into Turner knocking both (and MAGIC) down. MAGIC rolled Turner into the ring but when got distracted before entering the ring by Awesome. Turner recovered and took control on MAGIC for a while. It wasn't anything beyond old timey but the crowd was hot so that covered up the standard paint by numbers stuff.
Thought it was funny that MAGIC (the male on the team) took the heat but in the wrestling rule book: guy with mask on is weaker than Dykey girl. Awesome looked motivated tonight, looking crisp as shit with his moves. Awesome and Turner tried to go for some sort of double team move but MAGIC was able to scramble free and take both guys out with a diving clothesline. MAGIC tags out to Wrath (to a big pop) and Sylvia went nuts on Turner and Awesome. Awesome tried to stand up to Sylvia Wrath to atone for his previous beat down and forearmed her in the face. Wrath kicked him in the nuts and then kicked him straight in the face with a front kick Anderson Silva style. Surprised she was able to pick her leg up that high. Awesome dropped to the mat, Wrath got on top and preceded to punch him in the face repeatedly. Mr. Turner tried to make the save but Ninja MAGIC was able to play guard long enough for Wrath to punch Johnny Awesome into a verbal submission. Guest commentator Emily Hart calls it "A victory not just for Wrath and Magic but a win for all of mankind."1/1 Sylvia Wrath forces Johnny Awesome to tap out to punches. Analysis: I thought it was a fun match with a hot crowd. Is it something I'd like to see again? Probably not but that's irrelevant. It got the tournament off right and the right team advanced.
Death by 1,000 Kawada Kicks Advances to Stage Two
-Feeds cuts to a pre-taped segment of Tracy Smothers getting ready for his Lions Den Cage match vs Sean Aries. He mentions he's been caged up "since Sean Aries momma was a skeedmark in her momma's panties" (?) and promised nothing but violence. He says Aries can't run in the cage and the T.H.U.G. would "turn the mark into a skidmark of blood." He also promised to shoot piledriver Emily one more time after he killed Sean. I have no words to describe this.-
Melle Mel's Goon Squad vs Pirate Booty Big return pop for Travis Levitt who emerged in faded clothing and a swank looking hobo beard. Seriously it was Hanks in Castaway big. Melle Mel's Goon Squad of Evil aka Slugga and Eddie Kingston got the jump on the face tandem with led to a both guys beating on Levitt. With both guys focused on beating up Travis, Jasmine Mitchell tried to steal a pinfall by rolling up Eddie Kingston from behind. Kingston kicked out at two but all of the crowd was ready to pop for that. Kingston and Slugga aren't in the best of shapes so the idea had to be for Levitt and Mitchell to drag them into deep waters and survive that ways. The teams traded momentum, Kingston and Levitt did most of the heavy work to sort of cover up the flaws of Mitchell and Slugga.
Kingston was in good form, tossing Levitt around with all kinds of "drop you on yer head" plexes. Whenever Kingston would get too comfortable, Levitt would snap back quick with something quirky to slow the tide. Levitt landed on his feet after an attempt at a german suplex and hit a big enzeguri to lead to a hot tag to Jazzy. This led to all four guys/girl getting in on the action in a big clusterfuck brawl. Levitt hit a sit out powerbomb on Kingston followed up by a top rope splash from Jasmine Quinn for a CLOOOSE two count. At least 85% of the crowd swore it was three. Slugga went after Levitt to hit him with a chokeslam but Levitt elbowed free and turned it into a Levy Lock! As Slugga tapped, Kingston absolutely DESTROYED Jasmine Mitchell with a nasty BACKFIST TO THE FUTURE. Turns out that Jazzy and Kingston were the legal men/women and the ref counted the pin as Levitt forced the illegal Slugga to tap. 1/2 Eddie Kingston pins Jasmine Mitchell with the backfist to the future Analysis: The match was alright considered one participant was fresh out of maternity leave and Slugga epitomizes uselessness. The ending made sense, even if it seemed anti-climactic: Levitt had been gone at sea so long he forgot the rules of a tag match and just went with the flow. Kingston picking off the weakest person in the match was pretty great character stuff as well. Not going to get a point from me but it was harmless enough.
Melle Mel's Goon Squad Advances to Stage Two
Xclusiv Canary vs Team AR-Dojo: WRATH and Jimmy NOX Team AR-Dojo are members of the Matt Logan training academy, with a sign up application to be found here: http://z15.invisionfree.com/AR_Dojo/index.php?act=idx . WRATH is the younger sister of PRW star Sylvia Wrath and Jimmy NOX is a former student of Joey NOX who adopted the name in a Gracie-like fashion. There was a semblance of let down as "Team AR-Dojo" was the mystery team. Emily Hart, on commentary, speculates that "a much more popular option probably dropped out" before name dropping Justin Credible and Giant Bernard. She is then sub sequentially replaced on commentary by Ace Andrews.
Good spot to start off as Canary Kid was laughing at the youngest WRATH sister only to eat a few stiff leg kicks on the outside thigh from her. Kid tries to match her quickness and finds himself surprisingly outgunned against a very agile WRATH. Eventually Canary is able to take it to the mat and ground WRATH up a little bit, even giving her the Scott Hall hair fuss move for her troubles. Canary goes to tag out but X takes a powder, leaving CK in to get hit from behind by NOX. There was no teamwork of Canary and X to speak of which actually made the match more entertaining. Watching two D-Bags have a "D-Bag off" is an enjoyable experience. Jimmy NOX was flippy McDoo, hitting a nifty handspring elbow off the ropes and a quebrada to follow it up on CK. Jimmy went for a tornado DDT on Canary Kid but was crotched on the top rope by the Kid. Adam X tags himself in and takes over much to the chagrin of Canary Kid. Unlike the previous matches, there was less of a "in peril" segment and more of a back and forth because X and Canary are solo guys trying to force themselves into a team. Canary Kid slapped Jimmy NOX around and went for something in the corner when Xclusiv tagged himself in. Adam X pulled NOX out of the corner, leaving Canary Kid to jump off the top rope with his dick in his hand. Later on, Adam Xclusiv hit a stalling suplex close to 30 seconds on Jimmy NOX but couldn't make the cover because Canary Kid blind tagged in. When CK went to make the cover, Adam Xclusiv threw him off for an argument. As the two teammates argued in the ring, WRATH snuck in and booted Canary Kid into Xclusiv, knocking him over the top rope.
That left a 2 to 1 situation on Canary Kid with the AR Dojo looking set to do some damage on Canary Kid. Canary Kid was a touch too crafty for the rookies at first and used a big swing on WRATH to take out her own partner in a "way cooler than it sounds" spot. He tried to get too cute though and wound up getting the "Hot Shots" treatment where WRATH and Jimmy NOX superkicked him from both sides. Canary Kid kicked out but the crowd was hot for the upset. WRATH hit her Misawa elbow to drop CK and Jimmy NOX climbed to the top rope for his 450 splash. At that point, Adam X popped up on the apron and crotched Jimmy NOX. X climbed into the ring, hit the X Marks The Spot on WRATH and drags Canary Kid on top of her. Despite being the illegal person, the ref counted---but WRATH kicked out! That's BIG for a newbie to kick out of Xclusiv's signature move. Xclusiv BERATES Canary Kid for trying to pin the illegal person and hits WRATH with a snap DDT for her troubles. They booted WRATH out of the ring and tried to isolate Jimmy NOX. X hit an X Marks the Spot and Canary Kid QUICKLY followed up with a snapmare driver to seal the deal and end this bad boy. 1/3 Xclusiv Canary beats Team AR-Dojo after Canary Kid pins NOX Analysis: If you've never seen the likes of WRATH and Jimmy NOX, this is an interesting showcase. As it stands? It's a decent undercard match with a hot crowd and some nifty characters at work. I wouldn't recommend seeing it more than once but it was harmless. This could've turned out much worse.
Xclusiv Canary Advances to Stage Two
-We go backstage for a direct post match interview from Xclusiv and Canary Kid. Each one tries to talk over the other to take the credit. Xclusiv claims he did the hard work and saved Canary from dying. Canary claims if he had a real partner, he would've won this 2 minutes ago. Before things get too heated, Xclusiv says for the sake of wrestling history, they can tolerate one another until they win the titles. They can stick together for the sake of pissing the rest of the company off. Canary Kid agrees but only on the condition they can change their name to something more fitting. "I never liked Xclusiv Canaries anyways" replies Xclusiv. Two douches being douches=heel money.
We get a pretape now with Slaughter and Kazama. Slaughter admits that the choke artist label is beginning to bother him and Kazama. They entered the tournament not just to win a title shot but to do it under the most intense conditions possible to test themselves mentally. If they can win a one night tournament, they can win the titles. Smart, solid promo from Slaughter which was necessary after all the goofy stuff thus far.-
Matthew Logan vs Ace Andrews Continuing the revolving door commentary team, Ace Andrews was replaced by Scott Baio. You read that right. Ace is from Las Vegas and as such he got a major hero's welcome. Matthew Logan is returning and got a pretty nice pop for coming back. Logan got on the mic and thanked the PRW fans for support. He said he missed competing and is happy to be back in the company he feels like belongs in. He knows Ace has a lot of family and friends here and promises to put on a fine athletic contest for them. The last thing he wants to do in his first match back is disappoint the people again. He offered Ace a handshake out of respect and when Ace reached out, Logan smacked him with the mic. Those "welcome back" chants turned into "Fuck you Logan" chants real quick.
Logan tried to jump on the offensive after the mic shot but Ace was able to fire back and put Matt on the ropes. Logan tasted Ace's brawling power and quickly shifted into his 2nd gear; stall mode. Here Logan would grab a hold of Ace and try to work the body part for some good old fashioned heel wrestling. Every time Ace thought he had a counter, Logan would switch up the part he was working on to keep Ace off balance. One fan chanted "boring" and Matt replied with "It's called wrestling, not brawling you dick!" Every time Logan was unable to grab a hold of some kind, he'd get chin checked and tossed around by Ace Andrews. Ace hit a particularly nice overhead suplex on Matt that popped the crowd. Still the early story was that Logan would grab a hold of Ace, drag him down and lock in a move to buy time and wear Ace down. Logan used everything in his repertoire from side headlocks to chin locks to a seated guillotine attempt and so forth. Whenever Ace got rowdy, Logan would try to slow him down again. Logan's face told the tale of a dude who was rusty and just trying to shake that rust off and survive.
Eventually Matt settled on the leg, focusing primarily on the right leg of Ace Andrews. Scott Baio points out on commentary that the right leg is the support leg for the Platinum Made Cloverleaf. Brunswick is so astounded by Baio's wrestling knowledge that he legit stumbles over his words. Logan looked fatigued halfway through but continued his assault on the right leg of Ace. At one point Matt put ACE in a cloverleaf which might've caused a riot if the Vegas crowd was willing to rabble rouse about it. Logan put A LOT into the hold and legit went for the finish. Ace crawled to the ropes and broke the cloverleaf and when the ref pulled Logan off to break the hold, he damn near collapsed. This led to a mad dash where Ace Andrews hulked up and tried to finish off a completely spent Matt Logan. He hit Matt Logan with a half nelson suplex but Logan was able to kick out at two. He went up top for the shooting star press but he was unable to balance on the top rope. Logan made the mistake of following him to the top rope to try a suplex from the top. Ace reversed it and dropped Logan face first off the top rope with a sit out top rope X Factor deal. Ace Andrews opted NOT to go for the pin and tried to put Logan in the cloverleaf. By the time he turned Logan around and was able to put pressure on the hold without ruining his leg with the Platinum Made cloverleaf, the timekeeper rang the bell. 2/4 Matt Logan and Ace Andrews wrestled to a draw. The 20 minute time limit expired Analysis: This was a tale of two halves. The first half was story driven, he second half was action driven. In the first half, an overconfident Matthew Logan found Ace Andrews too tough to match after a long layoff. Logan turned to his underrated grappling to buy him time and slow Ace down. In the second half, a gassed Logan was just trying to survive long enough to either get lucky or for Ace to make a mistake. Ace was too injured to finish Matt off but had the momentum on his side. At the end, you could argue Logan won because he went 20 minutes off a long layoff with a top flight PRW superstar. At the same time you could argue Ace won because he was able to overcome a rough tide to beat Logan halfway to death at the end. At the same time, you could say neither guy won...and noone did. A draw is an "interesting" ending to a solid story driven affair.
-Ace Andrews wants five more minutes. The fans want five more minutes. Our referee wants five more minutes too. Logan asks the fans if they want five more minutes. They cheer. Matt asks the fans again if they want five more minutes and the response is the same. Matt Logan says if the fans paid more, they could afford to have signed him to a 25 minute match. Logan berates the fans for being cheap and tells Ace that if he can't beat a rusty Logan in 20 minutes, he doesn't deserve five minutes. Ace Andrews makes a B-line for Logan but he ducks out under the ropes and retreats to the back.-
-We cut backstage to a live post match interview with Eddie Kingston and SLUGGA after their successful victory. Kingston says he's not afraid to hit a woman and if she signs up for a match against him, he'd rather be a woman beater than a broke n*gga. He promises violence in the Stage Two Finale but is jumped by Sylvia Wrath who is apparently looking for revenge for her partner in crime Jasmine Mitchell. Security and Ninja MAGIC (looking like he had no idea what he was supposed to) manage to breaks it up before anything can get too serious. Segment was a bit confusing but the heat is definitely on the finale now.-
The Onslaught vs Tommy Nova and Josh Phoenix The Onslaught were CRAZY over from the onset while The Revolution of Tommy Nova and Josh Phoenix were definitely not fan favorites. The Revolution had an interesting story: Phoenix is trying to atone for previous sins and play it nice while Nova is out to do everything he can to win. The match was a little formulatic; Slaughter and Kazama would lay waste to Nova and Phoenix until one of their teammates would cheat. That led to a face in peril role for Kazama as Nova did all the dirty tricks while Phoenix tried to work a clean wrestling style. Josh Phoenix went for a top rope splash that Kazama was able to move out of the way to allow a hot tag to Slaughter. From there, the match clicked into second gear with Slaughter clearing dudes out violently.
Slaughter hit the Country Line on Phoenix but Phoenix kicked out surprisingly. Kazama and Slaughter tried to isolate Phoenix to put the match away. Slaughter held Phoenix up but when Kazama hit the ropes for a move, Nova pulled the rope down and Kazama went sprawling to the outside. Phoenix was able to mount some offense, even hitting a Black Hole Slam for a close two count! Sensing his partner needed some help, Tommy Nova slid a chair into the ring. Josh Phoenix picked it up, contemplated using it but then threw it down. He tried to do things the right way but Slaughter reversed one of Phoenix's finisher attempts with the Hurricane Season to pick up the pin. The crowd went nuts as the Onslaught successfully picked up the final spot in the Stage Two Finale. 3/5 The Onslaught beat The Revolution when Patrick Slaughter pins Josh Phoenix. Analysis: Formulatic in spots, very much paint by the numbers until the ending which was hot and heavy. The right team went over and some psychology played into the finish. Could've been worse.
-Post match, Tommy Nova railed out Phoenix for his lack of willingness to do what it takes to win. Phoenix walked off disappointingly to some minor applause as we went to intermission-

Intermission Time
-We kick it to a taped segment hyping up all the matches at Christmas Carnage, again from the same team as before. It eats up about five minutes and does it's job I suppose.
From there we get a live segment (or so we assume) backstage between Death by 1,000 Kawada Kicks. Wrath questions why MAGIC didn't jump in earlier during their brawl. MAGIC writes on a piece of paper that he doesn't believe in non-wrestling violence and only jumped in because Baio pushed him into it. Wrath tells him to toughen up if he expects this team to go anywhere. In a cute little moment, Baio alternates between backing up his hivemind buddy and his secret crush, playing both sides. Wrath tells MAGIC he's on double secret probation and he's expected to be "front and center" for any fights. A stage hand approaches Sylvia Wrath and Ninja MAGIC superkicks him in the face. It turns out it's a member of the PRW Front Office about to offer Wrath a new contract worth twice the value. Fun stuff.
Still at intermission, Ace Andrews questions the legitimacy of Matthew Logan after he wussed out of a 20 minute challenge. Ace says he's going to "do what he can" with the PRW management to try and get a rematch with Logan. This tosses to a rebuttal from Matthew who claims that if Ace couldn't beat a rusty, out of shape and slightly under the weather Matthew Logan in 20 minutes then he has no business asking for an extension. Logan says Ace can petition all he wants but a fresh in shape Matt dusts him in 15 minutes. All good stuff from the veterans.-
Back from intermission with Brunswick and Matt Logan at the commentary booth. Logan restates his displeasure at rematching Ace and says he has unfinished business with "85% of the guys here so Ace can draw a number and get in line." This kicks off our second half of the show.
Malik Logan vs Alex LeBlanc This match was a legit toss up because Alex LeBlanc and Malik are both on the up in their respective careers. Malik is tag champ and pushing for an Undisputed shot while Alex IS getting an Undisputed Title shot. This started off as your basic "match holds and test of abilities" stuff. Alex would attack an arm before Malik would use a wrestling counter to gain the advantage. The two would go back and forth trading holds until Malik Logan tries to take it up a notch by slapping Alex LeBlanc in the face. LeBlanc responded by slapping Logan and the intensity rose with each strike. Right when it looked like Logan was going to take over, LeBlanc decided to take a page out of all of his opponents playbooks by chop blocking the leg out from under Malik. Smart, sound strategy with Alex working the leg and trying to dish out punishment from on top.
Alex broke out the various submissions such as the single leg crab (or rolling maple leaf if yer a Canadian), the grapevine ankle lock and the kneebar to try and get Malik to tap but Logan showed tremendous resolve. Alex even went a little old school and broke out the Figure Four which ultimately became the turning point of the match as Logan was able to reverse the submission and turn the pressure on Alex's legs. This brought back all of the old "Alex can't take submissions" bit as the match turned into two guys with weak legs trying to finish the other first. A lot of Malik's offense involved using his legs for support (super kick and diving elbow drop) so he was forced to diversify his attacks some what. This was similarly true with Alex after Logan's figure four and other moves. Both guys were forced to rely on other moves; such as Malik using a half nelson suplex to plant Alex on his head for a close two count and Alex LeBlanc breaking out a guillotine choke (of all things!) to try and secure the submission. With the crowd on their feet and both guys trying to throw out all the stops, Malik Logan went for his face crusher but LeBlanc shoved him off. When Malik turned to face Alex, LeBlanc nailed him in the face with the tried and true Chin Check Superkick on the bad leg to KO Malik. Alex made the cover grasping his leg and was able to get the pinfall.4/6 Alex LeBlanc defeats Malik Logan. Alex pins Malik after the chin Check Superkick Analysis: Alex LeBlanc and Malik had surprisingly good chemistr together. The story of two crafty veterans with something to prove played out pretty well in my estimation. The finish made sense and the right guy won considering Alex is heading into the title match at Christmas Carnage. Malik looked strong as he was able to hang with Alex full-stop and pretty much was one move away from taking the win. He didn't come off looking poorly, just flukishly unlucky.
-Post match, Alex and Malik share a moment of respect between the two. Both guys hobble around and raise the others arms for the usual cheer. Alex wishes Malik luck in his match vs Ace Andrews and hobbles off to the backstage area. Malik soaks in the respect from the fans inside the ring before hobbling off as well.-
Lion's Den Match PRW Undisputed Title Sean Aries vs Tracy Smothers First and foremost, The Lion's Den looked like one of the old WEC cages. Tracy Smothers came out to Staying Alive with his illegitimate daughter Jesse Belle Smothers and his "MMA Trainer" Glenn Gilberti. Sean Aries came out to Tom Petty while rocking jorts and a black Choose Death t-Shirt. Aries stomped around in the cage throwing Bart Simpson "if you happen to get in front of them, it's your fault" punches, rallying up fan support while Smothers begged off.
The "match" if one wishes to call it that begins with Aries punching Smothers in the face. A lot. Take Sylvia Wrath vs Johnny Awesome and multiply it by 3000. Aries basically mollywhomped or "ragtagged dat boy" with punches and smothered Tracy Smothers into oblivion. Whenever Tracy Smothers got any offense, it was typical old school heel stuff like eye rakes or kicks to the balls. These were all "legal MMA rules" according to Smothers. Smothers went for the shoot piledriver but Aries was able to back drop him out of it and stomp around some more. Sean Aries pounded on Smothers some more and then hit him with a sloppy tiger driver, nearly dropping Smothers on his crotchety redneck head. Jesse Belle Smothers hopped the cage and tried to make the save for her dad but Aries saw her coming and hit her with the Angle Slam. This gave Smothers a chance to recover and allowed him to hit Sean with a shoot piledriver! The crowd legit thought we had a new champ (never thought I'd say that) until they realized that Aries couldn't be pinned in a Lions Den Match. Smothers, completely foreign to submissions, put Aries in a camel clutch but Sean was able to power out of the sloppy attempt. Aries got free, hit Smothers with an Angle slam and then followed up with mounted punches to the face. Glenn Gilberti saw the end coming for his protege and threw in the towel to give Aries the corner assisted stoppage victory. The crowd popped loudly as Aries seems to have dominated his Southern Fried Foe. Sean Aries retains his PRW Undisputed Title with a win over Tracy Smothers. Glenn Gilberti threw in the towel to save Smothers from further abuse. Analysis: I have no analysis. Legit.
-Post match Aries went to hit Smothers with the shoot piledriver when Gilberti hit the cage. Aries hit Gilberti with the Angle Slam (must be a theme in the locker room). When he went to put Smothers in position to hit the shoot piledriver, the lights went out. Natural Born Killaz blared over the P.A. and everyone thought New Jack was on his way out to fuck someone up. Instead when the lights came back on, Sean Aries was attacked by Jacqueline (or Miss Tennessee) in camo gear and a matching bandana. The announcers on commentary referred to her as (and no, I'm not making this up) New Jacq. That's right, Jacquelline is playing a female play off of New Jack.
She proceeded to hit Aries over the head with a garbage can lid and strutted around New Jack style. She went to hit Aries with the guitar shot to the head but Aries was able to duck under it. He dropped Jackie with a right hand and went to hit her with a guitar. Before Sean could pull it off, he was hit over the head with a chair by Vladimir Koslov. Koslov was wearing a suit and has a new haircut; some kind of Tom Cruise combover deal. He, Smothers, New Jacq and Gilberti beat on Aries until security and referees were able to break up the beatdown. Aries wins the match but winds up being left laying by Smothers' associates.- Analysis: This one needs analysis. This was the greatest mish mash of bullshit I've ever seen. I don't know if this was good...but it was something. I feel lik I hve to shower after watching this segment.
-We cut to a live backstage interview with Tracy Smothers and his "Alliance to End Seanamania". Smothers admits he knew he would be in trouble in the Lion's Den but figured the cage would allow his associates o do their worst without the refs intervening. He brought his top associates with him: Glenn "Google eyed" Gilberti, New Jacq, Jesse Belle Smothers and Vladimir Makarov Koslov. Yes, Vladimir Makarov Koslov. Koslov says people want to know why he aligned himself with Smothers and the correct answer is "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." If this leads to Makarov Koslov organizing a highjack of a plane, I'm on board fully. Smothers promises the Alliance to End Seanamania will be successfully because the membership list is longer than his DUI count. Again, no words to describe this.-
Stage Two Four Team Finale Onslaught vs Death by 1,000 Kawada Kicks vs Melle Mel's BX Goon Squad vs Xclusiv Canary Prior to the match, Bob Saget announced that the match would be held under Lucha rules. The crowd was definitely hot for the Tag Finale, totally into the Onslaught and Death by 1'000 Kawada Kicks. When Melle Mel's BX Goon Squad came out, Wrath and Magic went out to greet em in the entry way. Both teams brawled in the aisle way while Xclusiv Canary and the Onslaught fought in the ring. Xclusiv Canary was knocked to the outside by a double clothesline from Slaughter and Kazama. Xclusiv and Canary got wrapped up in the fight outside which led to a big six man brawl outside the ring. Just to completely set this thing off, Slaughter and Kazama dove on the six people outside to a massive pop.
That's sort of how the match went. It's more of a sprint than a major match. All four teams alternated being in control with each time having their moments of opportunity. The match had the crowd on fire and after a bunch of your standard tag stuff, it was a breath of fresh air to have a match with all sorts of innovative stuff and great tag team action. A nice spin on the tower of doom spot: Kazama was trying to suplex Wrath but Kingston broke it up. Kingston climbed to the second rope to try and russian leg sweep Kazama. Xclusiv went to the other side to uranage Kazama from the other side. Canary Kid ducked underneath and we got the tower of doom spot except Wrath hooked onto the top rope. With the rest of her opponents down, Sylvia Wrath comes off the top rope with a crossbody on Patrick Slaughter for a close two. The crowd reaaally thought Wrath had this thing won.
As the match progressed, we got the typical finisher run. Ninja MAGIC super kicked the hell out of Xclusiv and looked to have the pin before Kazama broke up the pin. Kazama hit MAGIC with a lungblower and went for the cover before SLUGGA broke it up. SLUGGA hit the chokeslam on Kazama and went for the pin but Wrath dove OFF the top rope to break up the fall. That was awesome. Wrath ducked a Backfist to the Future from Kingston and countered with a series of headbutts. The headbutts dropped Kingston to a knee and then Sylvia followed it up with the BOMA YE! She went for the cover but Canary Kid broke up that pinfall as well. Canary Kid dumped Wrath to the outside and Canary Kid looked set up to make a run of things. Canary Kid grabbed Patrick Slaughter for the snapmare driver but Slaughter reversed it. A country line followed by Hurricane Season on The Kid put him down for the count. Right before MAGIC could make the save to break up the pin, Kazama grabbed him by his pant leg and held him at bay. The Onslaught win! 5/7 The Onslaught win their match. The Onslaught wins after Slaughter pinned Canary Kid Analysis: A satisfying way to end the night. It was a spotfest of epic proportions but that was beside the point. The Onslaught pick up the title shot in an intense match. On a stacked show, this match might've been better off maybe toward the middle but on a card built around fun, this match was a great night cap.
-We go backstage where a tired Onslaught speak. Slaughter says this win was one of the more important of his career, mainly because they beat some outstanding competition and all in one night. The Onslaught feel confident about their chances about success and think their title time has come.
Xclusiv and Canary Kid are backstage. Each one blames the other for their loss, Xclusiv wins out because Canary actually DID get pinned. Canary says next time he'll pull off the win by picking a better partner.-
