Hey guys. It's your nerd, Takato Kazama.
Before I get into things, I have to take a few moments to give a shout out to Canary Kid for accepting the challenge. So, yeah guys, it's official. Takato Kazama versus The Canary Kid for the X-Division Championship at Bloodletting. It's going to be a heck of a match. But, as usual, I have all intents on coming out the champ.
Now, let's get into our visit at New Japan Pro. For the first time on this tour, we were competing in solo matches.
My match was earlier on the card, with me going up against Masato Tanaka, current IWGP International Champion and former ECW World Heavyweight and World Tag Team Champion. He was one of my favorite wrestlers growing up, so it was an honor for me to face him. Once the bell sounded, I was reminded why he was a world champion. It was a huge contrast in styles. My offense was more strike-oriented while he used more power moves. It was a battle between strength and speed. The match went back and forth until the two decided to take the match outside a little too long. So, the match ended in a double countout. On any other night, I would have been disappointed. But at that moment, I didn't care. I wrestled Masato Freakin' Tanaka.
Slaughter's match was two matches later. And, much to my surprise a couple of days ago, the card read Thrash versus Bob Sapp.
For everyone who was wondering about Slaughter's blurb at the end of his last entry, well...
When interviewed before the PRW vs International All Stars, Pro Wrestling NOAH president Akira Taue mistakened Slaughter for Sapp. Slaughter was none too happy about it. However, a lot of people from referees to even The Inquisitor wouldn't let him livie it down (hence the infamous Bob Sapp entrance at Summerfest). Slaughter's merchandise literally had to be recalled because it beared the name of Sapp. Needless to say, Pat was practically frothing at the mouth at the oppurtunity to face Sapp.
The match rolled around, and, as usual, Sapp made the whole thing feel like a scene out of an anime or toku series. Once the match rolled around, fists were thrown. It wasn't even so much a wrestling match as it was a slugfest. Eventually, both of them were so bloodied in the facer that I figured that The Great Muta was pulling out a bowl of popcorn while watching this. It gotten so bad that the referee had to call it early. But before Slaughter, left the ring, he made sure to lay Sapp out with a swing of a chair to the noggin. (Seriously, even I have to admit it: It was a prick move).
Well, next stop is Dramatic Dream Team. It should be rather light hearted event. Until then, I'm signing out.
