Hey guys, this is Patrick Slaughter, writng the next entry for The Onslaught Tour Diary.
Before I was a wrestler, I was just a fan. And as a fan, I always asked myself why cards were subject to change. Then, when I became a wrestler, I realized the reason.
On the night of a show, several things could happen. Sometimes, a wrestler could no-show. Sometimes, something could happen in the back that could prompt management to alter the card. On one hand, it could really make a match disappointing, like when you see a new burger from a fast food restaurant on TV and thinking it's the biggest burger ever made until you actually buy the thing. People will just walk away feeling cheated. On the other hand, it could make what would have been a decent match into a classic.
So, it was supposed to be Thrash (myself) and TAKATO (take a guess) vs CIMA and Ricochet. CIMA held every title in Dragon Gate. One could say he's the face of the fed. Ricochet seemed to be the Blood Warrior's answer to The Junction 3's PAC. The man can fly. Together, they held the Open The Twin Gate Championship. We were expecting war.
However, earlier in the night, there was a confrontation between the two groups in the back. So, it became a four on four match. Picture this: TAKATO, Thrash, Masato Yoshino, and PAC vs CIMA, Ricochet, Brodie Lee, and BxB Hulk.
The match was bananas. Everybody was moving in top gear. At one point, Brodie and I were going at it, and we weren't holding back on punches. Not only that, but it seemed like everyone was made out of steel that night. I mean, seriously, there wasn't a single person who didn't kick out of three finishers in that match. True story. When it was said and done, however, BxB Hulk took down Dragon Kid with his patented EVO after interference fron Naruki Doi. After the match, I grabbed the mic and the let the whole crowd know that before I leave Japan, I wanted Naruki Doi one on one (because seriously, screw him).
While we started off with an L, I already felt the fruits of our training. Even after the match, I still felt like I could go a couple of more rounds.
Well, next stop is PRW to team up with Malik and T-Digga at We Did It Here First. Then back to Japan for more training and an appearance at New Japan Pro. There, I'll be taking on someone who caused me a lot of grief.
'Till then, this is Slaughter signing off.
