Sylvia,
Socrates once asked of the world, "Is the pious loved by the gods because its pious, or is it pious because its loved by the gods?"
In essence, it's the longest reigning game of the "Chicken-and-the-Egg". Are we righteous because of what we believe in, or do we believe in things because they are righteous?
It's been the tale of our little tiff, Sylvia, our journey toward what will surely become the stuff of legend, the addendum to the scriptures and the amendment to what shall be the verbal history of Professional Wrestling.
We each have our convictions, and I'd be lying if I didn't say that it seemed that you truly believe in your cause, truly believe in your self and your self-concept, your worth to this industry and the value in a set of tits and a busted smile.
It's admirable, it's commendable even. The thing about beliefs however, Sylvia, is that just because you hold those principals near and dear to your heart, it doesn't make them any more truthful or righteous than the belief of another man.
For example, during the 1970s in Guyana, a radical group of people joined together, 909 of them to be exact, and the created a colony of what was supposed harmony, cultivating what they proposed to people to be nirvana. Their community thrived, they truly believed in their convictions, they held their principles aloft above all else. The name of the establishment might ring a bell, maybe you've heard of it.
Jonestown.
They played it off like a revolutionary suicide to bring about change and a shock to the moral fabric and foundation of the world, but in truth? It was a mass murder led by Jim Jones.
Convictions, my dear Sylvia, are a dangerous and often shortsighted value to uphold.
You have this belief, this concrete and fundamental idea that you are right in all of this, that you hold some sort of divine right to overcome me, that you've been blessed with what you need to get past me and claim your destiny.
Sadly, child, there's no such thing as destiny, there's no such thing as fate, there's no such thing as divinity and there damn sure is no such thing as a Sylvia Wrath title reign.
And you know what, if you want to continue believing in a farce, and praying to a God that doesn't exist so that he'll bless you with a victory, and you want to continue training with Martial Artists and learning the Way of the Tao, and if you want to delve into your soul and search to find what your think is yourself and the inner power that has told you that you're going to defeat me when it comes to not a wrestling match, but a matter of sheer violence....
Then you're entitled to that, Sylvia.
You're entitled to round up a little mob of believers and people who buy into the system, and you can all chant and sing your songs of worship at Uprising, your congregation of the confused and downright ill-advised following you down a path of despair.
Seriously, keep buying into this, Sylvia. Bring your mob, because honestly, it won't matter.
What's a mob to a king? What's a king to a god? What's YOUR GOD...to a Non-Believer?
There's no such thing as sanctuary, Wrath. You'll have nowhere to turn and nowhere to run.
There's no church in the wild, kiddo.
But you can keep believing. That's fine by me.
I might even have some Kool-Aid for you to drink.
Love, -Alex
