Carlos sucks toes in old people homes
SuperBattle isn't even cold yet and the wrestlers are making their way to Summerfest not looking back. Each wrestler coming out with new rivalries, new drives and challenges. One rivalry has caught some headlines though and that is John Bane and Manik Mercer. Mercer took it upon himself to cash in the points he had earned for a shot at the X-division champion John Bane. John came out and responded and accepted the challenge, but he also added his own little twist to the challenge. He wanted the match to be a Baltimore Street Fight which is a 2 out of 3 falls but with little twists. It is anything goes all the way through and the first fall can be pin fall or submission, second fall is essentially the same but submissions are taken away, then in the finally fall if it gets that far the only way you can win is if you manage to keep your opponent down for 10 seconds.

The media went into overdrive with online blogs, YouTube channels and tv all bidding for their time slot with the two wrestlers. Manik Mercer, who is know to media shy sent us a video rather than coming in to sit down with us.

Here is what he said:

MERCER

When you work you whole life for something you want there to be a point, you want a dream you can say you made a reality. You don't get up at 4:30 in the morning just because you enjoy it, you don't drag yourself out of your bed, hop into your gym clothes, eat food that tastes like shit but is the perfect fuel your body needs just for the sake of it. There has to be a point to it all. Normally it is to obtain something, a huge bank account, a title belt, a legacy!

But you see that's where I differ from most people. I do enjoy it! I don't see it as a chore, it's just part of my life. It is my life. I do want the huge bank account, the huge house and millions of pounds worth of cars, but I also want to be the best, I want to walk down the halls, through the curtain, walk down to that ring and for people to look on and say without any doubt in their mind that Manik Mercer is the best. I don't want to be known as the best at his time, I want to be known as the best ever! Holding a belt isn't enough for me, anyone with a little luck can grab a belt, anyone! I want to be remembered, I want to go down in history, I want to be the guy people compare all the future champions to and look back in nostalgia saying they wouldn't even be able to lace my boots. That what I am doing it for and I enjoy every moment trying to get there.

Every time I go out there I lay my health on the line, I don't go out and half compete, I put everything into it and that is why I have become one of the most feared superstars today. To me every match is a career match, if for a second I feel out of place I'd stop, if I ever felt completely and totally out matched I think I'd have to reconsider my career options. But the thing is, no matter who is in that ring with me, LeBlanc, Owens, Nox, Lynch! No matter who is in that ring I still shine, I may get beat from time to time but I still shine. That's how I know my hard work is paying off and that's how I know that one day I will turn my dream into reality.

I also want to tell you the truth. I never wanted to put my career on the line! I've worked too hard and gained so much to put my career on a red or black spot. I am confident that you stand no chance against me this time around John but I still didn't want to put my career on the line, that should not have been up to you to decide that, I gain nothing from it. See John your career was already on the line, I didn't intend for you to walk away from Summerfest, I wanted to end you John. But now it seem I NEED to end you. You see before it was just a match where I take your belt and possibly take your career with it, but now you've gone and made it about my survival. You have gone and made it about me fighting to stay alive in there and that is probably your biggest mistake! I refused to be backed into a corner, I refused to be bullied and I refuse to let you take away something I have worked so hard for.

I'm going to win at Summerfest and not because I want to take that belt, not because I want to end your career. But because I want to stay alive!
