Pete,
Can I call you that? I feel like we're on a first name basis nowadays. I mean, with you dropping me on my head and everything. I feel like that practically makes us kin at this point. I mean, in my neck of the woods, and with my upbringing? Abuse practically makes you a father, but I digress.
You see, Peter, the last time that you and I met, you rendered me unconscious when you pulled out all the stops and compacted my head into my spine with a Top Rope Razerplex. It's been documented and discussed ad-nauseum at this point. For quite a few months now, I've used it as my sole motivation. I've used it to fuel my desire to get back into a title match and beyond sticking it to PRW; the idea of finally chasing you down once again has been THE STORY of the past year within PRW.
Just when you thought I'd fail, with all your cute little quips and with all your empty rhetoric, it turns out that I'm still better than everyone in this company. It turns out that when thrown into an Over-The-Top Battle Royal with the reward being a chance to finally get to face you again? Well, I found an extra gear, and that extra gear made it so that my foot held on just enough as one of my proteges hit the mat before I did. Emily Hart gave me everything I could handle and then some, but the fact remains: I won Superbattle, and we have a date, young man.
The last time that we shared a date, I laid there with backstage getting checked over by the medical staff as my head lay in the lap of my then-girlfriend. In a show of respect, you made your way to the back after it was all said and done, and breaking in your piss-swill drinking tradition, you stopped by and gave me the plaudits in saying that you had to "pull out all the stops" and that I "pushed you further than anyone else had". And as I laid there, lights getting shone into my eyes and the scent of a leggy blonde's lavender perfume bringing some sort of comfort, I told you that it was all worth it.
You didn't understand me then, and you looked at me like I was crazy when I said it, the fact I had been knocked cold for 20 seconds not moments before jarring you, because jar you it did. But it was worth it, Pete. It was worth it because I now know the depths you'll go in order to defeat me, and in your dominance, in your absolute and sensational quest to be the longest tenured champion in PRW history, you did the one thing that will be pointed at when all is said and done as you gravest error and your biggest mistake: You showed me mercy.
The fact of the matter is, Pete? You've seen me do things to myself that no man should ever put his body through. You've questioned why I kept rising, you told me to stay down on the canvas and just let bygones be bygones, you've openly declared that this business is passing me by. You had your chance to put me away back then and you showed MERCY.
I've always been fascinated by you, Pete, fascinated because your motivation for being here, has been to prove yourself and to prove your worth above all to all these fans in PRW, to prove that your hijinks in PWA and XWA were able to translate to the big leagues, where it mattered. Your motivation since the beginning wasn't just to hold the belt, but to hold it for such a period of time that you believed in your mind would give you credibility. The fact of the matter is, you've ran with said title, you've made yourself impossible to lock down in a ring, and you've oft sat on sidelines, padding the amount of days on your reign by refusing to defend it.
Your motivation, Peter, has always been legitimacy, and when faced with the opportunity to eliminate the one man who can take that from you? You showed mercy and you ran from the opportunity, just like you ran from the opportunity to truly legitimize your reign.
You tried to gain acceptance and legitimacy by convincing a public and a company that would only serve to chew you up and spit you out whenever it saw fit to do so. Now, you're learning the error of your ways, choking people with bandanas and being this stereotypical "baddie", but MY motivation? It has stayed consistent. My motivation has been to obtain that title for 4th time and surpass many of the jamkoes who currently rest beside me only in quantity but NEVER in quality.
Mercy, Peter, is what you showed me back so many months ago when you could have put me away for good. You could have eliminated me from your future by acting in your present, and now? Your reign will become a thing of the past, just like your career.
We have a date, at Superbattle, in London, England. We have a date, in your neck of the woods, a place where you lost your PWA title to Steele and lost your job. London, Peter, has a very negative connotation to you, but such is the fear, such is your need for legitimacy and respect that you are challenging me to a match where both our careers are on the line and that title hangs in the balance.
I already won this match when you showed me mercy all those months ago, Pete.
Mercy... is a fool's conceit.
