The setting was the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. As he sat on the front row, middle court, the arena was empty. However, it was far from inactive. Dressed in a black Onslaught t-shirt made by Skechers (available in the PRW store), a pair of blue jeans, and a pair of black and orange Skechers (also available in the PRW store, exclusively), The Fort Lauderdale Native had his head tilted back as he watched some footage on the Jumbotron. Said footage was of previous matches between Patrick Slaughter and Alex LeBlanc.

“When I wrestled for the Atlantic Wrestling Syndicate, Doc Creek gave me some words of advice that I try to live by,” Slaughter began. “It was only six words, but those six words hold a lot of weight – ‘Face your past and own it’.” At that point, Slaughter tilted his head briefly.

“Most people in my place would deny Alex words, or downplay it. And for me, it would be easy to since I don’t often let my emotions show on the first take. But that’s not how I roll. Fact is, what Alex said is true. A whole lot of my career has a lot to do with Alex. After I won my first match in this very arena and thought that my career was going to be on a fast track to the X-Division Championship, Alex was the guy who gave me a dose of reality. Because of me facing, and ultimately losing, to Alex LeBlanc in my first ever World Heavyweight Championship match, people started to realize that I wasn’t just a tag team guy. And, speaking of tag team, I don’t think Onslaught wouldn’t be where it is now had it not been for the Tag Team match against the Black Suit Outlaws. So yeah, Alex, you authored a lot of my career.

“However, funny thing about being an author – just because you’re the author doesn’t mean you’re in control.”

Not so coincidently, the footage on the Jumbotron changed up, showing highlights of Alex LeBlanc’s career.

“Let’s all be honest, Alex. When you retired, you had nothing left. Not nothing left in the tank, mind you, but nothing left to really achieve. You’re a multiple World Heavyweight Champion across multiple promotions, a grand slam champion, multiple awards and a spot in the PRW Hall of Fame. Not only that, but you brought PRW into the world of MMA with the establishment of SPARTA. But despite all that, you came back.

“And honestly, I’m not knocking you for it. How can I when I’ve marked out for a match involving Vampiro?”
As he said this, Patrick gave a nonchalant shrug before looking straight into the camera. “But you’ve been so busy writing my story that it has started to become an obsession for you. And you said it yourself – I’M the reason you came back. So now that people are anointing me Mr. PRW, here you are, ready to have another go.”

At that, Slaughter pointed into the lens of the camera briefly.

“I’m your muse, Alex. Yeah, you may have written chapters in my story, but it was finally me that got you to give in to the urge to return to the ring. As you said in your AMA, I’m the reason you returned to PRW. You may not like to hear it, but it looks like the story is driving you. I’m the one urging you to go. So, to an extent, I’m the one in control. See you at Christmas Carnage, o’ great writer.” At that, Slaughter stood up and walked out of the shot as the segment faded to black.
