Marcus Falco
Rookie
[With Superbattle in the rear view, Marcus Falco walks across the sunbaked streets of spring time New York City. His phone vibrates in his pocket “Immortal Beloved” on the screen. Falco answers the phone as he walks into the lobby of PRW headquarters. Falco smiles at the dark haired receptionist who smiled back and looked up at him, name placard on the desk in front of her reading “Tina.” Falco excused himself from his call after a brief “Hey there, sweetheart.”]

Tina: Can I help you, sir?

Falco: Yes, I’m here to pick up my paycheck from Superbattle, should be under “M. Falco.”

Tina: Absolutely sir, it will be just a moment, if you would like, feel free to take a look in our interactive hall of fame to the left.

[Falco nodded his thanks and began walking through the halls until he got to the Hall of Fame, browsing a little disinterestedly as he saw some of the men and women he had worked with in the past. Falco continues his conversation on the phone as his eyes bounce back and forth.]

Falco: Yeah, I’m here…PRW Headquarters…No, just picking up my check from Super-B…You didn’t watch? Pretty well, got into the final four. I could almost taste a title shot at the belt…Yeah, of course I would have worked it…of course I love you more than wrestling.

[Falco pulls the phone away from his ear, walking through the hall, clearly having heard this dissertation before. He sees the wing for the year 2006 and smiles a moment, a flood of memories hitting the high flyer as he picks up a little bit of pace, a voice rambling incoherently on the other end of the phone. He picks it up for just a moment and gives an obligatory answer.]

Falco: Yes, I got it ‘out of my system’… Uh-huh…Yep…You’re right…Hey, I’m not that old…Yeah, I’ll be on the next flight from Kennedy to Sea-Tac then I’m driving back to Spokane so late night, you don’t have to stay up, I know where to find you. I have to get back to my first love.

[Walking over to the plaque for Revolution, he sees the picture of his friends: Seb Cobain, No Fear and the late Souljah but something was missing. Him!

Falco tilted his head and made a face, walking through the hall and goes over to the individual performers, certain to see himself but once again, Falco is nowhere to be seen. It’s almost as though he has been wiped from the annals of PRW completely. By now, Falco looks distraught and visibly upset.]

Falco: Hey…Hey…Hey…they took my plaque down, I’m not in the Hall of Fame any more…Well damn it, I care. I worked my ass off and spilled my blood to put you in that house you seem to be enjoying, not watching the TV you so desperately needed.

[The clicking of high heels filled the hall as Tina started down the hall, smile on her face and holding an envelope in her hand with Falco’s name on it. She holds it out to him and he takes it, opening and looking inside.]

Falco: Hey hold on, love… [Falco pulls the phone down and tilts his head, looking at Tina and asking the question he wasn’t sure he wanted the answer to.] Hey, why was I taken out of the Hall of Fame?

Tina: We re-did it last year or the year before to have 3 per year. Unfortunately a few names got bumped. Yours must have been one of them.

[Falco’s face changed from dismay to a look of determination as he pulled the phone up.]

Falco: Hey, you know what? I don’t think I’m gonna be on that flight. I have to have a meeting here real soon and I think I’m going to go on the road…Yeah well if that’s what you think, maybe you should just get out of my house. I think we need some time apart. I have to get back to my first love…the PRW.

[Falco hangs up the phone and almost instantly it starts vibrating again and Falco ignores it. He looks at his phone for a moment. Well divorce lawyers aren’t cheap…]

Falco: Hey, is commissioner Koga in his office today? I’d like to have a word with him.

Tina: Certainly, let me make sure he is available but go ahead and follow me if you’re done here.

Falco: Yeah, I’ve seen all I need to see. [The two start walking out of the hall before Falco turns his head and looked down at Tina.] You wouldn’t be doing anything tonight, would you?
