Patrick,
The recently departed Eduardo Galeano wrote, "The people adored Diego Maradona for his prodigious talent and acrobatics, and because he was a dirty God, a sinner, the most human of the dieties. Anybody could see in him the walking synthesis of human weakness - arrogant, overbearing, deceitful and swaggering. But perhaps of all the crimes Maradona committed, the most profound was the sin of being the very best at what he did."
There's a message here, one you may not have absorbed or even taken in, but it's there and it's present for you to see. To make it clear, I know that most people don't want me to win this Superbattle. I know that most people think I'm over-the-hill, arrogant or overbearing. Correction, most people in the BUSINESS don't want me to win this Superbattle, just like they haven't wanted me to win in the past. It has nothing to do with my talent, but everything to do with my personality outside of a wrestling ring.
I know Patrick, that you don't want me to win this Superbattle. I know you don't want me to win this Superbattle because of what it would represent, because of what would be the assured outcome of you and I having a date in the future, a date that you're dreading, because much like when you met my little brother in the past, you know I'd be an unbelievable thorn in your side. The difference between the two situations is that Nox never wanted to beat you, he just wanted to humiliate you. I on the other hand, I want your fucking belt.
I told you long ago, and I made it quite clear that this was a destiny foretold. Mene, Mene, Tenkel, Upharsin if you will; the writing on the wall for a kingdom that's coming to an end. I told you to shine the belt months ago, I told you I was coming when I had conquered two foes, but now as you sit there before yet another Main Event you don't feel comfortable in, I'm telling you once more that the belt is mine and nobody else is going to wear it before we meet in the biggest event that this company has to offer. Let's see you ignore me now. Let's see you ignore me after Superbattle.
You see, I think it's funny you haven't mentioned me at all recently. You know I'm coming, you've been watching my matches because I've gone on before you at these shows, we've shared the ring together, but you've downplayed my importance. You've ignored my comments and my presence. That's fine.
Some would say it's because you aren't scared. I call bullshit. I call bullshit because I know every time you have to headline an event, you're shaking because you're wondering when the glass ceiling is going to come crashing down on you. You may be the champ nowadays, Pat, but you're still the same dude who couldn't even break through or grab the brass ring. The only thing that's changed from then and now is that your unattainable brass ring is called "Respect", not the PRW title.
As big a game as you've begun to speak, as much as you've tried to convince people, those who have known you longest know the truth. You haven't changed, and because you haven't changed, you're never going to live up to your potential. You can change your girlfriend, your clothes, you can talk with your chest a little bit more, and you can hit people in the head with chairs a bit more frequently, but if you don't change your mindset? The same shit will keep happening to you time and time again because while everything outwardly changed, you're still the same meathead black dude from the 954 who couldn't hold my jock much less wash it.
The reality is, when every single one of your fans dies? They'll pick you as a pallbearer so you can let them down one more time. The story of your career hasn't been your successes, Pat. It's been your unmitigated failures when you've been put under the brightest lights. Hell, your title reign has even followed this path because you haven't faced anybody yet. The day you do, i.e. me? You're losing that match and back to being Ata's man-servant because she's the real face of the Onslaught franchise now that Kato has grown tired of you being his proverbial backpack.
Most of us, Pat, go through life with the breaks on. Most of us hold back. That's okay. As you convince yourself, as you sell yourself on a different mindset, you'll start to see a change in the things that you are doing. Selling yourself on the ability to perform, to carry this company, to be a champion, that you have what it takes. That the day is yours.
You still aren't there yet, Pat. You won't be until I take that belt from you.
And when you get there? You'll go on to do great things! You may even be champion again. You may grow to carry this company for a while, but when I beat you, when you finally realize the difference between you and I, what you need to move forward, what you need to be at an elite level, I'll lift you off the canvas, the one I'll pin your shoulders to in defeat, and I'll look you in the eyes and force you to not ignore me, force you to give me the attention you've been neglecting to give me for the past few weeks.
I'll force you to look at me because in all the years to come, and in your most private moments, as a certain man once said?
"I want you to remember the man who BEAT YOU."
Regards, -Alex
