SPARTA Men's Confirms Jan 30th Show!

SPARTA has announced the first show of the 2015 year! With a big December 31st card featuring most of their top stars, SPARTA is rolling out a card on January 30th from Alario Center in Westwego, Louisiana. Airing on UStream and PRW 24/7, SPARTA will continue their Heavyweight Semi Finals as well as three SPECIAL last chance fights where fighters who are dangling on the outs with SPARTA getting one more fight to potentially lock down their contracts. "In addition to their semi finals of our SPARTA #1 contender fight for the heavyweight tournament", said Don Pecker, "we'll also have fighters competing for their long term careers. The winners of those three fights will get long term contracts with SPARTA for the next three fights. The losers will likely be released unless it's such an amazing fight that we feel the fighter deserves one last shot." Clearly though the focus will be on the main and co-main event which will help take us one step closer to crowning a #1 contender!

Main Event

Alienware Block Winner Mamoud "Radio" Raheem (6-2 MMA Record) ---versus--- Hayato Tabuchi (12-2 MMA Record)

The headliner fight will pit Mamoud "Radio" Raheem out of the Alienware Block against Japanese import Hayato Tabuchi! Mamoud "Raheem" Raheem is a tremendous comeback tale in life, a former convict who found his religion and then a sport to maximize his natural athletic abilities. In SPARTA, Mamoud "Radio" Raheem lost to Joey Gallo to qualify but he got in when Carlos needed a Maurice Dream replacement. Radio picked up two first round finishes to steal the Alienware Block and give Carlos Cruz his first ever block winner. His opponent will be the Gemma Traumaward sponsored Hayato Tabuchi who was the semi-finalist in the Burton Block. Hayato Tabuchi could have realistically won the Burton Block but Gemma Traumaward pulled him out citing an hand injury. In the end, Hayato Tabuchi wound up advancing to the semi finals as the runner up in the Burton Block. Hayato Tabuchi went 2-0 during the SPARTA trials and is technically undefeated in SPARTA action. The winner of this fight will move on to the semi finals!

Co-Main Event

Burton Block Winner Ricardo Infante (8-3 MMA Record) -----versus---- Carter Potter (16-4 MMA Record)

In the co-main event, the other half of the finals picture for the #1 contender spot when Ricardo Infante takes on New Zealand born Carter Potter in the semis! The Burton Block winner is Ricardo Infante on more of a technicality than anything else. Infante won his first two fights under the guidance of Razer and Bella but came up short in his third fight, losing by way of a cut in the third round. The "Feckin Hell Mate" Fight Camp leader says that he was thrown off of his game by the change of opponent and that he would've won the fight had he not got cut open. His opponent is Alienware runner up Carter Potter. The Joey NOX sponsored fighter came in second place in the Alienware Block after filling in for both James Walker and Raymond St. Jacques who were removed due to injury. Potter has a lot of power in his striking and was a revelation for Joey NOX. The New Zealander and the Mexican born star had an intense staredown that required both fighters being separated from one another. They'll solve their issues and determine a finalist as SPARTA wraps up their HW tournament!

Last Chance Fights!

Men's 135 lb division

Cole Waterman (8-4 MMA Record) vs Clive Stone (6-2 MMA Record)

Women's 125 lb division

Florinda Jones (5-1-1 MMA Record) vs Tevi Doyle (8-1 MMA Record)

Heavyweight Division

Hannai Tatupu (9-7 MMA Record) vs Ulf Samuelsson-Hansen (16-7 MMA Record)

SPARTA February 11th Card Comes Into Focus

As previously announced, SPARTA will be heading to Atlanta, Georgia to host a night of fights and we've now got the official details and the fight listing to announce. Live from the Thomas B. Murphy Ballroom in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, SPARTA will be bringing the second round of SPARTA bantamweight trials fights to the venue on February 11th! The home of Olympic Wrestling in 1996 will now see the best mixed martial arts fights that SPARTA can offer in the bantamweight division. For those interested, tickets are available at axs.tv or SPARTAFighting.com. With a mere 2,000 seats available, we expect tickets to go fast and you should be rushing to pick them up!

Here's the official SPARTA bantamweight trials leg two line up!

Main Event
Clive Stone (9-4 record, Sponsored by Gemma Traumaward) 1-0 Trial Record, 2 points vs Dan Willingham (28-10, Sponsored by Razer and Bella Quinn) 0-1 Trial record, 0 points

Clive Stone shocked everyone when he came in on short notice and used a power right hand to drop Kelvin Mark Bautista and then submit him to take the lead of the Atlus Block. The fact that Stone was able to lock up a submission has put him in a tenuous position where he could, in theory, clinch a spot into the next round if he's able to submit another opponent in his next two fights. On the other hand, Dan Willingham was unable to back up his brash 'tude-y talk by losing a decision to Claudio Fernandez. Still as had been said before, Willingham has been chasing a fight with Gemma's sponsor for a long time now. This is his opportunity for him to atone for his last performance and move himself into the SPARTA Trials win column. Both fighters apparently came out of their fights unscathed so nothing changes for them, this could be Dan's last chance!

Clive Stone: "Everybody but Gemma had faith in me to win. I went out there and submitted that little Pinoy and moved onto the next guy. Bring Willingham, he's throwing shots at the Queen but what he doesn't know is that the Queen's got a Knight and the Knight's got a big ass right hand to knock Willingham back to the Civil War Era where he came from."

Dan Willingham: "LEMME TELL YA SOMETHIN MISTER, I EMBARRASSED RAZ AND BELLA IN MY LAST FIGHT! I DIDN'T GO OUT THERE AND PUSH FOR THE FINISH! I LEFT IT TO THE JUDGES AND I LEFT DISAPPOINTED! THAT SAID I GOT MY SIGHTS ON GEMMA AND THIS CLIVE STONE FELLA! IT'S TIME TO PUT THAT GEMMA AND HER SINFUL DECEITFUL WAYS IN HER PLACE! TIME TO SEND HER ASS TO HELL! I DON'T KNOW IF MR. STONE KNOWS THIS BUT GINGERS AREN'T EVEN REAL PEOPLE. I HOPE SPARTA DRUG TESTS THIS ALIEN TO MAKE SURE HE AIN'T GOT ANY OF THAT FUNKY GROWTH HORMONE! HELL THEY SHOULD MAKE SURE HE'S GOT HUMAN DNA! LEMME TELL WHAT ELSE, ALIEN OR OTHERWISE, I'VE SEEN INDEPENDENCE DAY AND I KNOW ALIENS CAN BE BEATEN! I'M GONNA THROW MY HANDS UPON HIS BIG ASS NOGGIN AND KNOCK THE FAKE DYE RIGHT OUT OF HIS HAIR! REAL MEN AREN'T RED HEADS! I'M AUBURN! NOT RED!"

Co-Main Event

Realty21 Block

Christopher Sterling (12-0, Sponsored by Carlos Cruz) 1-0 Trial Record, 2 points vs Simeon Belmonte (7-1, Sponsored by Ace Andrews) 0-1 Trial Record, 0 points

This is a co-main event with plenty of intrigue as top fighter and elite prospect Christopher Sterling takes on Ace Andrews' Simeon Belmonte. In his first fight, although he struggled in the open, Sterling battled back and eventually broke Hans Boch with a third round corner stoppage finish. The win earned Sterling 2 points and while that puts him behind Tim Mateo, it gave him a comfortable lead over the likes of Boch and Belmonte. Speaking of which, Simeon Belmonte will look to break the Ace Andrews curse. After starting with a rather impressive 3-0 in SPARTA, Ace Andrews has melted with 6 straight losses. The latest of which came when Belmonte got submitted by Tim Mateo in the first leg of the SPARTA trials. Can Belmonte get Ace back on track with a major upset? Or will Sterling continue his ascension toward a confirmed semi final spot.

Christopher Sterling: "I'm just happy to have the opportunity to fight a great opponent. Simeon is a tremendous fighter and I'm proud to get in there against him and mix it up. The better man will win and I hope it's me."

Simeon Belmonte: "Every day Ace Andrews looks at me and tells me that I gotta break this streak. I know it and he knows it. I'm sure Sterling is a nice little nerd but I got bigger fish to try. I gotta get my record right and I need to make up for lost time. Sorry nerdo, I'm on a destiny mission."

Kelvin Mark Bautista (9-1, Sponsored by Takato Kazama) 0-1 Trials Record, 0 points vs Claudio Fernandez (17-6 record, Sponsored by Jesse Drive) 1-0, 1 point

While Kelvin Mark Bautista lost his fight vs Clive Stone, there's still light at the end of the tunnel. The Takato sponsored man from the Philippines is not so far back as to not have a chance to make a run. He has the perfect chance to climb back into the ranks with a win. Bautista is only behind a point with two fights to go, ample time for him to potentially catch up. Claudio Fernandez shocked the world with a decision win over favorite Dan Willingham, bringing Jesse Drive's run of SPARTA futility to its end (JD had lost three in a row prior to this). With just one point, Fernandez is on a perilous spot of not having a very safe lead. If he beats Kelvin Mark Bautista, he could potentially lock down a spot in the SPARTA bantamweight trials semi finals. Also Fernandez will be chasing Atlus Block leader Clive Stone and needs to keep pace.

Kelvin Mark Bautista: "I was disappointed in my last performance. I was humiliated even. One of the best aspects of being an athlete is there's always a next one. I may have lost this one but I guarantee that I'll bounce back and get it right!"

Claudio Fernandez: "HEY PAPA, THE GIFT OF GREATNESS AND THE MEXICAN GIFT OF GREATNESS ARE GOING TO ATLANTA! BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW BECAUSE PAPA, IT'S A SHOW YOU'RE NOT GONNA WANNA MISS! MAMACITAS, I'LL BE AT THE PEACHTREE HOTEL, DOUBLE D'S AND SLIM WAISTS APPLY ONLY HAHA!"

Realty21 Block

Tim Mateo (7-0, Sponsored by Alex LeBlanc) 3 points, 1-0 Trials Record vs Hans Boch (12-2, Sponsored by Joey NOX) 0 points, 0-1 record

In what figures to be a clash of grinders, Tim Mateo will try to keep his perfect record intact and his lead on the Realty 21 Block while Norweigan Hans Boch chases the opportunity to catch up on some points and erase a bad loss on the first leg of the trials. Mateo, the only fighter in the Realty21 Block to finish his fight in the first round is chasing the opportunity to lock up a block spot with another first round finish. Grinder Hans Boch will be coming back after a rough TKO loss in which he took the first round and faded down the stretch, ultimately getting saved by the towel in the third round. Boch needs to win this one to keep himself in the SPARTA points mix.

Tim Mateo: "I'm blessed to have another opportunity to try and further push myself. I have the best SPARTA sponsor by my side to make sure I get the most out of my opportunities. I think that's it's going to be the best fight possible and I bet people will be floored with how improved I'll look. I love to fight and I'm ready to add more points to my record!"

Hans Boch: "Whatever it is going to happen is going to happen. I trust I will get the finish and get the mattert out of the hands of others."

Injury to Ricardo Infante Delays SPARTA Show!

The MMA injury bug has now effected SPARTA's plans! SPARTA's show planned for January 30th has now been pushed back due to injury. Earlier this week, it was revealed by Feckin Hell Mate Fight Camp that Ricardo Infante had suffered a leg injury. "Sometime last week, Infante felt a twitch. He had a few beers, went back to the gym but since then it's been a problem" said Razer. After being checked out by some of SPARTA's best doctors, it was revealed that Ricardo Infante has suffered a strained groin. With Infante's mobility limited, SPARTA made the decision to delay the show from January 30th to March 4th, 2015 from Alario Center in Westwego, Louisiana. "It's a 2-4 week injury, we were told," said Don Pecker, "if he did suffer the injury last week, we figure that that allows plenty of time for Infante to recover and be ready for the co-main event against Carter Potter." We apologize to those looking forward to the show but wish to remind fans that tickets purchased already are STILL valid for the show on March 4th. We hope to see you there on March 4th and wish to remind you that the shows will be airing on UStream and PRW 24/7!

Here's the card for the event!

It's always fun to see the ideas I come up with that never make it out on time :hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm:

Anyways in the interest of potetially cleaning things up, I've decided to create a psedo top 10 for each division SPARTA has. This is less a rankings system and more a "these are the actve fighters going forward". Given that each weight class sees an inordinate amount of ffights one way or another, I figure 10 is a good starting point. It'll feature the fighter, his or her SPARTA record if I remember it correctly and their sponsor. In some cases, the fighters record and the ssponsor record will not match up but that's because certain guys weren't with that sponsor at the time. If a fighter is unlisted, it' either because I forgot them or 86'd em outta SPARTA or whatever the case may be. Whatever!
