The only musical I have ever seen preformed on stage would be The Phantom of the Opera which I love.

Ditto. Well, professionally. Um, unless that stage production of Rocky Horror (which was amazing) counts.

I've seen a school production of West Side Story and I played pit for Funny Girl, which essentially means I know the music and plot forwards, backwards and upside down but I have never seen the actual musical.

Most of what I'm familiar with comes from the cast recordings and the ones that are made into movies. And yes, I think that it's perfectly okay to like the movie to a musical. Sure, the stage play is almost always better, but not all of us can afford to go to broadway and see every musical that sounds interesting. =)

Oh man, live productions of Rocky Horror Picture show are amazing.

I have memorized the soundtracks of Spamalot and Avenue Q. I should be going to New York this summer, and if I do, I am spending all of my money to make it out to those two shows. Though I am quite sad that I will be missing Tim Curry and John Cleese in the leading roles this summer. ;_;

Even if the things from Moulin Rouge were regurgitated, I thought it was kind of cool to introduce older songs in ways that younger people would like them.

...and you're right, arrangements are not easy.

Good point. Before JPop, I lived of 60's/70's. I still like it though, like "The Bohemian Rapsidy" by Queen. That song is fun! I like musicals too, I like "The Sound of Music." *sings* The Hiiiiiiiiills are aliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive with the--*someone hits Artie with a brick* ow..........

I'm not the one who revived the thread, but I may as well post here anyways lol...

At my camp, there's the band/orchestra/guitar program, the jazz program, and the music theatre program, and this year, music theatre did excerpts from Chicago, Cabaret, and A Chorus Line, all of which are amazing musicals :)
This one time, at band camp...

The unicorns are riding high
Powerful in coats of white
I turn to look but burn my eyes
I carry on, I carry...

The vampires are growing tired
The coats of white all turn to red
My heart burns with desire
I carry on, I carry on...

Les Miserables is the best thing evers....only one I've seen...wish I had money so I could go see more...T.T And I have been in a sort of musical thingie based off the Prayer of Jabez..I think I sang a song and was the girl on roller blades that nearly fell over....that was fun. Wish I could do more, but at my church there's almost no such thing as a teen drama whatever, so screw that...T.T I relaly want to learn how to write music...but since I really don't have an official class (being homeschooled) I have to learn on my own or with a private teacher. And private teachers co$t lot$ of monie$, so I'm pretty much just gonna hafta wing it...learning how to play guitar (or at least getting tabs so I can x3)
Read, read, read, read, read. Of course you must learn English grammar...but reading, endless general reading, is the only way to develop the sense of rhythm and language which enables a writer to 'hear' good prose inside his or her head. and write it down...reading is more important than writing...Although I write for television, I feel passionately that children should watch it very seldom;... and instead read a book.

Three words; Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Or if you don't like that *which I doubt* there's
Avenue Q
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
and Bring on The Noise Bring on The Funk.

SQUUUUEEEEEEEE~ Tor, you rock my socks! <3

I JUST saw Les Miserables in New York on Tuesday. XD It was a lot better than I thought it would be, and the stage ROTATED. It was cool~ <3

Wizard of Oz was our school production this year. I never knew it could have so many sexual references. O_O;;

I REALLY want to go see Spamalot. We got to learn the song "Find Your Grail" in the Broadway Clinic we had in New York. It was fun. =)

And Phantom of the Opera is just LOVE. <3

ok sooooo I find it quiet upsetting that the Broadway Musical place had DIED. maybe its a lost cause, but music is my passion so might as well try to revive it ^^

Regretfully I haven't been to many musicals. But this past year we took a trip to new york with the band and we saw In the Heights on broadway. it was phenomenal! oh my dear gods. the dancing the acting the singing. holy hell. I'm in love with Phantom of the Opera but I haven't gottent the opportunity to see it on stage yet (but i might soon! it's coming to detroit!! :D)

our school has put on some really good musicals in the past, Wizard of Oz, Fame, and Beauty and the Beast, all of which have been exceptional. This year we are doing Modern Mille which we've been working on over the summer so it's expected to be just as great =]

oh, and i also have a fasination with Les Miserables because it was our marching band show once a long time ago way before i started high school XD so i've always wanted to see it and know the music haha =]
