Well, today I decided to stop being lazy and actually bother myself to get up and get the mail. SHOCK! My new Shonen Jump magazine sat there in it's plastic packaged glory, waiting for me to open it and groan in horror at how dubbified the translations have become. But wait, what's this?

Within the packaged glory of my Shonen Jump was a DEMO DISK of the PS2 version of One Piece, Grand Battle.

This resulted in a happy Digitaldreamer.

I rushed back to my house, used whatever force was required to remove my siblings from their awful Disney cartoon, and shoved the disk in with such force that I've probably ruined the poor machine even more than my brother has in the past six months.

And so I watched the opening. Which, save for awful dub voice grunts and shouts, wasn't that bad. They had clips of Luffy fighting Crocodile, Nami using her Clima Tact, and I think Vivi was in there somewhere....er, anyway, it was neat.

Then I started actually playing.

Amazingly enough, the game is pretty fun. The only thing that was open was Versus mode, so I gave that a try. Only Luffy, Zoro (Known as Zolo; the freshmaker in the game) Nami, and Arlong were open for play....of course, I chose Luffy, because I worship him. The CPU pitted me against Arlong, and shoved me into one of two battle areas available, the Baratie.

It was actually pretty fun. The controls are a bit weird, but once you figure them out it's pretty damn fun. It kind of reminds me of super smash brothers, limited to two characters and on a 3D screen where you can move every which way. It reminded me of SSB because items randomly drop onto the screen and the enviorments attack you (I got hit by a cow in Luffy's home village. What the HELL was up with that cow?) and...yeah.

Oh, and Luffy and Zoro look both cute and hot respectively in their 3D-ified forms, so I'd say they transferred alright to video game land, as opposed to the crappy character models that were in the Shaman King game released last year.

So I'm definitely buying it, if only so I can play the story mode and see what happens and then play Versus mode and kick my friend's asses as LUFFY.

....So um....yay?

You mean it's from 4Sham and it's actually DECENT?! Still, I'm going to get Freeloader and One Piece Grand Battle: Rush instead. If my mom let's me, anyway.
