The perennial favorite, the Autumn Masquerade, has returned to the Mayor’s home for the night of the fourteenth. As per usual masks are required but other than that attendants are free to explore a wide range of costume ideas. In fact, costumes of every shape and size can be seen around the manor although all in attendance are asked to keep the event classy.<br><br> In honor of the event the estate has been extravagantly decorated in a classical European ballroom style and from a distance it emits a soft, unearthly glow. A great effort has been made to make the estate look as if it has been lit by a perfectly natural light. An enormous crystal chandelier hangs in the ballroom, glittering and swaying with the music, flashes of colors from the moving bodies below dance through the individual stones. The entire lobby has been cleared and decked out for the event, leaving ample space for dancers and a live band, well-versed in classic ballroom numbers. The band has set up in the east corner of the room, and has a stereo system if any more modern songs are requested. The furnishings have been removed and replaced with new chairs and lights that reflect a high-class European elegance.<br><br> The north wall has several tables set up, with a buffet available for any who feel the need to indulge their appetite during the night. The mayor has wasted no expense in providing food. Selections from a medley of courses are available, punch can be found under a beautiful ice sculpture of the Harvest Goddess. At the far corner of the table there is a chocolate fountain, with strawberries, cheese, and other assorted snacks around it, ready for the dipping. Black Jackal stood at the edge of the floor that was cleared for people to dance in. Tonight the estate was far different from the last time she were there. First, it was lit, and the second difference was that it was the night of a big spectacle. A spectacle she wouldn't have attended if it were not for a note she had received a day before. No name given. Just like last time. Even though the party had technically started only ten minutes ago, there were already a crowd of people. All of them wearing masks of different shapes and sizes. She adjusted her own mask to make sure it was securely in place. Moths fluttered in her stomach and she was constantly checking over her shoulder. Who knew what kind of person was in this crowd. Friend, or enemy, it could be anyone. Even the person she was waiting for. Hands shaky, she began to smooth the skirts of her dress to give them something to do. Yet again she had to dress up for a nice event. At least this time the dress could be a style she was familiar with and the skirt didn't show so much of her legs. A few more minutes ticked by, and standing around felt like a waste of time. She needed to move around; do something before she lost her mind. Why'd she bother coming anyways? This could be a trap set up by the guild. Or someone wanting to blackmail her or something. Maybe the police were on to her? She looked over her shoulder again and moved so that her back was to the wall. No one was going to sneak up on her this time. In fact, she had positioned herself so that she could see everyone who entered the house. The masks and crowd complicated things, but she had a decent view and it was good enough for her. If only she had her bow. Then she could defend herself. Now her only option were to run, which would be difficult in a dress... What was she thinking? This was stupid. The only thing she did by coming here was to get her hopes up. Expectations were bad, they only made the end result hurt even more. Still, there was something in her that pushed her to come. That maybe she could have a little happiness in her hell-hole of a life. Even if it'll end bad, or hurt her even more. She was scared of being alone. ♠♥♣ ♦♠♥♣ ♦♠♥♣ ♦♠♥♣ ♦♠♥♣ ♦ →Autumn 14, 11 ←→6:32 PM ← →Open ←→Outfit← The Golden Jester's excitement radiated from his very being from the moment he stepped foot on Chrysocolla Estate. He had never been to anything remotely close to a masquerade before, but he had surely heard about such events. He wasn't really sure if they were masquerades per say, but back home, there were hundreds of balls held every year around spring time. But of course they were expensive... Far too expensive for it to be anything his family could participate in. Just before carnival season started, all of the fancy organizations that you had to pay to be a part of would get together and hold a ball honoring the court members of their little high society club. There were always high school girls gushing to each other about what dresses they would wear to the balls where they would be honored as a maid or even the queen. He had seen a few pictures, and the events always looked like a grand time. But regrets aside, The Golden Jester was thrilled. This was his chance to go to a big fancy event and just have fun. With a big smile on his masked face, the tall blonde man walked through the doors of the estate, and his jaw fell agape at the grandeur of the estate. It looked magnificent! Like it had come straight out of a picture from the eighteenth century! As his excitement elevated to a totally new level, The Golden Jester wandered farther into the large room to try to find a familiar fact. The fact that all of the faces were masked obviously hadn't sunken in yet. ♠♥♣ ♦♠♥♣ ♦♠♥♣ ♦♠♥♣ ♦♠♥♣ ♦ |

Date: Autumn 14, 12 Time: 6:32 Tag: The Golden Jester Wearing: This ’Look at all the people.’ Was the first thought that came to her mind as the Pink Princess walked through the doors of the mayor’s estate and into the fabulously decorated ballroom. Her eyes drifted around the area and took in all the sights and sounds. There was food, music, dancing, costumes and oh look at the chandelier. There was simply too much to see and to a girl who had pretty much grown up on the deck of an cargo ship it was all Pink could do not to be overwhelmed by sheer magnitude of it all. ’Talk about your fancy shindigs. The mayor sure knows how to throw a party.’ Restarting her idling legs Pink moved on inside the building following the crowd. She really didn’t have any particular destination in mind she was just enjoying every aspect of the party around her. She supposed she could have brought a date or a friend along with her but most of the people she knew would have never expected to find her in a place like this let alone actually dressed up and participating in the party. Besides, where was the fun in being tethered to one person all night? She wanted to drift and mingle and have fun. Moving further into the ballroom Pink looked around for somewhere to start. Dancing wasn’t really her thing, she was far to clumsy and awkward in areas where moving her feet were concerned but she also had eaten before she came and the food didn’t really interest her at the moment. She supposed she could step over to the side and see if she could find someone to talk to but then she wouldn’t get to explore the mansion. There were just too many options. So with a sigh Pink looked down at her feet in concentration and that was when she saw it. There…right there on the sleeve of her pretty pink dress was a smudge. She knew exactly what it was as soon as she spotted it, an oil smudge. How did that get there? I made sure to take a shower before getting dressed… She thought disappointedly. This wasn’t a good way to start off her evening. She would have to get some water on this fast if she wanted to get it out when she got home. Scratching idly at the stain Pink backed out of the flow of people without really looking where she was going. Unfortunately as mentioned earlier her natural grace was somewhat lacking and her path just happened to bring her into direct contact with the Golden Jester. Bumping into him with an ‘oof’ she stumbled forward a few steps almost tripping over her dress and then turned quickly nearly knocking another random person over in the process. Her eyes immediately found the jester and she turned apologetic. “Oh gosh I’m sorry. You aren’t hurt are you?” |

\Year 11; Autumn fourteen\ \Zero-six thirty-two in the evening\ \Pink Princess & Golden Jester\ Parties. He couldn't remember going to very many, back in the day. Clearing his throat, Robin adjusted the full white face mask against his head. The mask had some red and blue tribal designs painted across it, and there were only small slits where his mouth and eyes were. Just enough that he could see; but not enough for others to be able to see his eyes. This was important, at least to Robin, because of the theme of this dance He was wearing a rather large dark blue hat-- like one of those musketeer guys. There was even a grey feather sticking out the side of it. Merely for show. He had a dark green cape draped along his right shoulder and down along his right arm and the right side of his back. He was wearing rather fancy looking brown boots to, ah, boot. Haha. Robin smiled down at his footwear. He heard the sound of a woman, surprise maybe?, and glanced up. "Whoa!" Murmuring this, Robin stepped back and narrowly missed having the woman bump into him. He stood there, watching as she apologized to some other guy, before Robin raised his arm a bit and cleared his throat. "Hey. You almost bumped into me too." The least she could do was apologize to Robin. |

Date: Autumn 14 Time: 7:00 Tag: Open Wearing: this The Pauper entered the ball behind a group of extravagantly dressed men and women. The dresses glittered and the suits were primed and pressed with gold trim. It was like they stepped out of a movie or some fictional ball. And her? She wore old clothes that she found in a thrift store on the mainland. It was all she could afford, and even then she spent her last penny to pay for everything. Compared to everyone else she stood out like a fish in a desert. The only thing remotely ornate about her costume was her mask, which were yet another thrift shop buy. However, that was not going to ruin her fun. The masquerade was everything and more than she had imagined it to be. The lights, the music, the decorations, all of it was so magical. Like she were at Cinderella's ball. Though, Pauper didn't come to eat, or to dance, but rather watch it all happen. The seating area served that purpose quite well. From there she could sit and watch the people around her and marvel at dresses she could only dream of owning. Her chosen perch was a comfortable, red love seat that faced the dance floor. There, she could pretend like she were in another, magical world. |

It was a chance to go all out in fancy, flashy dresses with fancy, flashy, pretty masks and be flashy and fun but mysterious at the same time! And Red Cardinal had decided to go all out for it. Her dress was definitely on the shorter side, but she didn't care. The bright colors of red and gold that matched her sparkly, feathery mask were just some of the few reasons she chose the dress. Although she seemed to be rather outnumbered since all the other ladies that were there had long, fluffy, beautiful gowns that hit the floor while she stood alone in her cupcake dress. But there was no point in just standing there like a statue. There were still people around she could talk to and there was food and music! She was ready to have fun tonight. She scurried over to the food table and piled all the food she could find on her plate, feeling happy and excited. |

To roll back into the area in the twilight hours of the morning....And finding out there was a festival that night. As tired and exhausted as he may have been...He wasted no time in getting ready for it. Getting the outfit ready, he spent all afternoon putting it together. Leaving the note behind....that was the first thing he did after hearing about the event. He owed someone a big....big....big apology. He was told to apologize anyway, one did not go against father's wishes after all. The mere thought of that man churned his stomach a foul, but he continued on his way regardless. That was something else important for another time. He hated admitting he was wrong though, absolutely despised it. But this was just one of those things he needed to do; to turn over that new leaf, shed off the old life and begin a new one. Though there were still many things he needed to atone for. This was one of those things. He didn't know exactly where to find the person he was looking for, he wasn't worried about not being able to find them. He was, after all, a master of masks, and uncovering the one he needed would be no trouble. Just had to find the right mask. But as the Fox walked in, he was slightly at a loss. Where in this wretched hall did one find the person he was looking for? Keep a close eye on the crowd, look for the sneaky little pickpocket he knew so well? Of course, what else was there to do? |

❀✿❁❀✿❁❀✿❁❀✿❁ ❈Date: Autumn 14❈Time: 7:20❈Tag: Pauper!❈Outfit❈ Southern Rose wasn't really too sure if she liked this. First of all, she was wearing a dress, one of the very things she hated. This wasn't just any dress, though. No, this was a recycled dress from junior prom, one of the worst nights of her life. Most people would expect for prom night to be exciting, and Southern Rose thought it would be too... That was until her best friend, Megan, and Megan's date disappeared. They were her ride to the after party. So instead, Southern Rose had to ride with someone she didn't know very well and show up at the party by herself. The after party itself? A disaster that she would rather not relive that involved dealing with several drunk friends and making sure they actually got home safely and keeping them out of trouble all night. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why this girl didn't like to drink. She didn't want to look like that... ever! But that night aside, this night would be a good one. Sure, her brother prodded and begged her to go until she nearly went insane. Sure, he then literally took a decorative mask from the wall that had belonged to their mother and made her wear it. Sure, once she arrived she was sure that she knew no one here. But that had never been a problem for Southern Rose in the past. Not with her friendly, bright, bubbly personality! So instead of chowing down at the food table, or going out on the floor and dancing, Southern Rose decided to go and pick out some wallflowers. No need to be so shy, right? Nearly tripping in her small heels, Southern Rose made her way to the sitting area and sat down on a red love seat next to a girl who wasn't in the fanciest of clothing. That didn't matter though. She still looked nice, and really if Southern Rose had known that other people would be dressed like that, she would have come in her every day garb and just slapped a mask on. It would be much more comfortable than this stupid old dress. "Hi!" Southern Rose chirped at the girl sitting next to her. "I'm-" she cut herself off. She couldn't give her name away. That would ruin the fun! "Iiiiii'm a person! And you're a person too! Cool, right? Anyway, why are you sitting down? You should totally be out there dancing!" ❀✿❁❀✿❁❀✿❁❀✿❁ |

It's almost been an hour since she first arrived, yet nothing has happened. Whoever sent the letter could be anyone in the crowd, or they may not have shown up at all. Or have not shown up yet, that could be another possibility. She had no hints or clues to who her mystery person was. Well... she had one hint. If it was the person she thought it was, then she had something to look for. The thing was, she had to let herself believe that he really had come back. While she had an ideal position, she couldn't stay still and stand pretty for any longer. It was time to take her search mobile, even if it made her more vulnerable. She had to find him, wherever he was. It didn't seem like him to be late, so perhaps he couldn't find her. Who knows, maybe he only shows up when he could sneak up behind her. Black Jackal took a deep breath and stepped out onto the dance floor. It seemed like the best place to start her search since it was where most of the people congregated. It wasn't her best decision, as she could exactly dance her way across the floor, and people were knocked into her from all sides. If she could just make it across and, search the other side then maybe she'll find him where ever he was. If he even wanted to see her. Which, of course he did, he wouldn't send a letter otherwise. By why would anyone want to see her again? But no matter how many times she told herself that, she could not make herself believe it. It was too good to be true. She neared the opposite end of the dance floor when a man in a white tux backed into her, causing her to stumble back. From there she was pushed and jostled down the dance floor until she were unceremoniously knocked out of dance floor and into some man's back. "Oh, sorry," She said, not sounding too apologetic. This search was beginning to feel impossible; maybe she should just head home now. What was she thinking anyways? Her? Be happy? It'll never happen. Name: Bloody Mary Date: Autumn 14th, 12 Time: 7:00 Wearing:This Tag: The Buff Buccaneer “So…what are we goin’ to do first?” Bloody Mary said a little hesitantly as she clung desperately to The Buff Buccaneer's arm like a drowning person clings to a life preserver. She wasn’t sure about this whole party idea. The whole thing made her nervous and why shouldn’t it? She was blind for crying out loud. It was bad enough that she had been convinced to dress up for this, who knew what she looked like in this get up, but to actually come out and attend this event without her guide dog was unimaginable. She had been worrying about it all week and now that it was finally here she couldn’t think of any way that this night would end well. Too much could go wrong. ’Yer a fool yourself for even comin’ and now yer goin’ to make a fool out of this nice man too.’ She thought to herself as she continued to walk very cautious along. It had been the same reoccurring thought that had been playing over and over in her mind ever since they had left her apartment tonight. Did he even know what he was getting into? She doubted it. What possible fun could he have at an event like this with a blind girl when this whole night was about the sights and sounds of the party? Dancing? She didn’t even need to think about that to see how insane this whole idea was. Yet here she stood dressed like a pirate and clinging to him like he was the only thing anchoring her to this world which in this case at least he kind of was. To make matters worse she felt very self-conscious in her costume. The only thing she knew about pirates she had learned from books like Peter Pan and Treasure Island and she had never heard of a female pirate. Judging by the long coat, the tri-corn hat and the plastic sword on her hip it all just seemed so garish, so unlike her in any way. The mask? It wasn’t like she needed one. There were only so many blind Irish girls on the island after all. She might as well be wearing two eye patches. At least that way everyone would know and be sure to get out of the way. Then there was the crowd. She could already hear them all around her, laughing and talking and having their fun. How many were there? Thirty? Fifty? More? This was different than being on stage at a concert. On a stage she was above the crowd, separated from them. Now she was right out in the middle of them bumbling and disoriented. It was a pretty scary thought and she had to resist the urge to take out her cane to provide her with a little more security. Instead she clung even more tightly to her date’s, was this a date, arm probably cutting off the circulation in the process. She tried not to let the full weight of her hesitation show. She didn’t want him to be upset with her after he was so nice to invite her to an event that she would have never attended otherwise. Besides, she was far too proud to admit that she felt horribly out of place here. She would just have to suck it up and put on a happy face for everyone to see. So in an effort to do just that she spoke up again. “Are the…uh…decorations nice this year?” |

Autumn 14th, Year 11 Around 7:00 pm Tag: Open Outfit: Mask Suit The Man of Shadows, as he was calling himself this evening, would never do something like this. This was a new activity to him which is why he picked a simple but effective outfit. A dark tuxedo and dress shoes combo with a different colored mask to hide his face. He kept to himself as he approached the large estate that he had seen many times before. He had just never found any reason to approach it before this. Now, he was participating in a masquerade. Hopefully something good would come from this. He entered the estate and looked around at all the extravagant decorations. Normally, he would think of such things as burdensome and wasteful but he kept his thoughts to himself. It was a party after all. Not to mention, this area was just the entrance. He was looking forward to seeing how the mayor went all out for the ballroom. Feeling his curiosity peak, the Man of Shadows approached the lobby, entering it to get a look. As I thought. I have to admit, this is impressive for a masquerade. This mayor loves these festivals. The Man of Shadows chuckled quietly under his mask, crossing his arms. He wasn’t much of a dancer but these people could prove to be a fun sight to watch. It was time to act like a Man of Shadows. He found himself a relatively dark place, which wasn’t much due to all the light but it would work. He moved over to it and leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. His eyes began to watch the crowd, his mind keeping track of all the traits he saw of the different people. Some were excited, some were reluctant, and others were already getting themselves drunk. His mask didn’t allow for him to get a snack or a drink, it being a full face covering mask which is exactly what he wanted. He was fine being by himself and being a spectator unless an interesting enough person or sight caught his attention. A Man of Shadows indeed. |
