--------

With the party at the venue hastily going downward into an underage drunken oblivion, Nessa and Aubree had made a quick escape from the building and had avoided becoming part of whatever trouble was about to show itself inside. Nessa was excited, to say the least, about the prospect of having a friend over to her house for the first time in the longest time. Still, with every step, Nessa worried whether or not Aubree would enjoy herself. They'd eat pizza and maybe watch a movie, but what if Aubree didn't like the pizza? Or what if she thought Nessa's taste in movies was stupid? So much could go wrong that she couldn't even focus on what probably would go just fine.

And then there were her brothers to worry about. There was no way that Aubree could know that Nessa had four equally annoying brothers, and three of them were tiny terror triplets. Should she warn Aubree about them now? Or should she wait until the arrived at the house and let her figure it out on her own? Surely she should at least tell her about the triplets. They've confused many-a guest in the past, and she didn't want her new friend to get upset that she let her think there was one where there were really three. "I-I should p-probably tell you I have b-brothers. They're triplets." She cast a glance at her friend and hoped that she wouldn't be shocked or uncomfortable. Not that triplets made people uncomfortable, but Nessa just wasn't sure how to interact with new friends. She'd keep Wallace under wraps for now, though. She didn't even want to think about the headache that was her older brother, let alone talk about him.

She fell silent for a bit, wondering if she should make conversation or if she'd be too nervous to even get out a coherent sentence now that they were finally leaving the club and heading to her house. Coherent or not, she managed to reason with herself, she should at least try to talk, otherwise Aubree might think she's boring or doesn't want to talk to her. She'd managed conversation well enough earlier, what's stopping her from talking now?

"W-we could watch a movie while we eat. Mom lets me do that when we have pizza." That was a start at least. Maybe Aubree would be interested, and they could talk about that. Or maybe, if she wasn't, they could talk about what they did have in common, or Aubree could tell Nessa stuff she liked to do. She was starting to come around again, back to really excited after her brief stint with being inconsolably nervous about it. Surely everything would be okay, right? Still, she had the nagging feeling that Wally wasn't going to make her evening very exciting. It was likely he'd hover over them the entire night until Nessa snapped and tossed him into his room by his ear, but then what if Aubree thought she was super crazy or something? She sighed and her eyebrows furrowed. Wally was going to ruin this, she just knew it.

<br>Time: 9:00 pm
<br>Mood: Nervous, Excited, Happy

<br>

<br>
<br><br>Aubree was all too happy to escape from the confines of the Andesite. She could see where it was going very clearly and was willing to bet that if they had stayed for much longer they would have been stuck in the middle of a drunken teenage mob. It made her shiver just thinking about it. She had enough trouble dealing with kids her own age when they were sober if alcohol was added to the occasion there was no telling what kind of horrible things could happen to her and Nessa.
<br><br>
It felt much better now that they were out in the open air where they had space and could breathe. The heavy weight of anxiety that always seemed to hover about her when she got around large groups of people was hardly noticeable out here. Plus, she was going over to someone’s…no that wasn’t right. Nessa was more than just someone, she was a friend. Even now that term was becoming easier to say. Aubree was going over to a friend’s house which was something she hadn’t done since…well she couldn’t remember.
<br><br>
So excited was she by the sheer prospect of getting to hang out with Nessa that she hardly even noticed that they weren’t saying much. She supposed it might get a little uncomfortable if they didn’t speak again all night but she was so scared of saying something to mess up this happy evening that she had almost decided it was better if she just kept her mouth shut…almost.
<br><br>
As it turned out Aubree didn’t really want to go through the evening without saying anything. She liked Nessa and wanted to learn more about her. That’s why when Nessa spoke up first to break the silence a small, reserved smile formed on Aubree’s face. The smile turned a little confused and worried when she heard what Nessa had to say but overall the brunette girl was happy to learn this interesting fact about her new friend. Still, she could hardly imagine what Nessa’s life was like.
<br><br>
“T…three b…brothers?” She stammered unbelievingly. “I have enough t…trouble with one. How d…do you survive?” Thinking back to Clyde and his habit of stealing her notebooks for his drawings Aubree could see how horrible it would be if there were three of him running around. It would be bad enough if they were blessed with all the creativity in the family like Clyde was but to have them in the house all the time? Aubree would never get any peace.
<br><br>
“My b…brother and I try to keep to ourselves. It’s easier that way.” She said as she remorsefully thought of all of her notebooks. How Clyde would fly through them with his doodles and drawings and by the time he returned it there was always just one last page for her to use and what good was one page when she was trying to take notes in class? It frustrated her to no end but surely Nessa’s brothers weren’t like that. Not if Nessa was so nice.
<br><br>
“A movie sounds fun.” Aubree said excitedly as she moved away from thoughts of her brother. “What k…kind do you like? Do you have any sap…p…py romantic comedies?” A big, hopeful smile formed on her face this time. It was probably too much to hope for Nessa to actually like the same kind of movies as her but Aubree didn’t think there was any harm in asking. There might be something else that they had in common after all. As well as they had been getting along there just had to be and if the movie idea fell through maybe they could just sit around and talk. Aubree thought she might like that with Nessa.

Nessa was excited to learn more about her new friend, so when Aubree spoke up in disbelief about living with three brothers, let alone the fourth Nessa had yet to divulge, she was less concentrated on the shock than she was on the tidbit of info Aubree had divulged about herself. They could at the very least now share horror stories about living with brothers. She didn't say whether he was younger or older, but there were issues with both, she knew that very well.

Well, she thought, it probably would be best to tell her about the fourth. The more she thought she'd put it off, the more she felt bad about hiding it. Certainly she shouldn't start off her friendship with Aubree by concealing stuff that probably wasn't a big deal. Wally was always a big deal to Nessa, primarily because he liked to make her life difficult. But it was best to share everything, that's what friends did.

"They're actually nothing compared to Wally," she stated, nervously fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. "Well, s-sometimes the triplets are worse, but Wally likes to hover over me and nag at me all the time. He's my older brother. So r-really there's four."

It sounded way worse out loud than when she thought about living with four brothers. By now, Nessa was used to it, the nagging, the whining, the highly over-protective antics from both her father and brother. With so much manliness in the house, not that Wally was too manly himself but his testosterone still counted for something, Felicity often took Nessa out for special girl's nights where they'd just relax and maybe go to a spa and get their nails done. Anything to unwind and slow down from all the running around everyone did day in and day out.

There, now that that was out of the way, Nessa felt better, relieved to share that information and that it was slightly painless. It really was nice to talk to someone and tell them stuff about her and that person actually appeared to care. She could already tell Aubree was going to be a good friend. Two nervous peas in a pod with brothers that drove them nuts and liked to watch movies and eat pizza.

Speaking of movies, Nessa's ears perked up when her new friend requested her choice in film. Romantic comedies? It would be a crime if Felicity Summers's daughter didn't like sappy, romantic movies. With a grin, Nessa turned to Aubree, "It'd be the only movies we had if we didn't have to keep the b-boys happy." If Wally didn't whine so much, and the triplets didn't scream and wail whenever they had to be in the same room as Breakfast At Tiffany's, they'd never have to see a single explosion or hairy-chested gladiator swinging his sword at a bunch of enemy soldiers. Sure, they kept Seamus appeased, but he was much easier to please than his male offspring. Nessa just hoped they wouldn't be happily watching a movie and have Wally walk in and make coughing, gagging noises during all the best parts.

<br>
<br><br>Wally? She had almost forgotten about him. Aubree had seen Wally around at school. Being one of the older boys she really didn’t talk to him much so she really didn’t know him that well. She could understand not wanting to have someone hover over her like that though. Her dad was protective enough as it was but if she had to deal with that from Clyde too she might have to crawl under a rock because she would never be able to do anything. Luckily Clyde liked to keep to himself most of the time and didn’t cause her too many problems. If he did decide he wanted to be a pest she could always go to another room or to the other side of the house for that matter. Sometimes having a big house was a blessing in disguise.
<br><br>
“Four brothers? How do you n…not go insane?” She chuckled. “I would be in f…fear of my life.” It was said more as a joke than anything else but Aubree could definitely see how it could be no laughing matter. Aubree liked boys well enough, liked them a lot in fact just none of them seemed to like her, but when those boys were related too you their likability factor went down exponentially. Apparently there was some unknown genetic rule that said if you had a brother they had to be annoying and bother you constantly.
<br><br>
“Your mom and dad must really like k…kids to have as many as they do.” When she was younger Aubree had wondered if her parents might have another child giving her a baby brother or sister to play with but listening to Nessa’s horror stories she was thankful that she had no other siblings. One big brother was enough.
<br><br>
“I g…guess you just got unlucky when it came to genetics. Four brothers, that’s just c…crazy. Are you s...sure you don’t want to come over to my house?” Bree smiled again as she gave another small joke. They could save that trip for another time although if things went well that might not be too far away. She would certainly be able to understand if Nessa needed a place to escape to so that she could be away from all the masculinity for once. In any case she would be happy to welcome her over any time she wanted.
<br><br>
In any case Aubree wasn’t worried about Nessa’s brothers…not much anyways…well maybe a little…okay so she really was worried about them but was glad that Nessa would be there. Surely nothing bad could happen right? “Hey if they s…start to bother us at least we can team up on them so t…that’s something.” They had girl power on their side now and even though she had no idea what they would do it was a comfort to know they would be doing it together.
<br><br>
Aubree listened as Nessa confirmed what she had already expected and nodded happily. They had been getting along so well why wouldn’t they have the same movie preferences? “Or if you have anything by N…Nicholas Sparks. I swear I could watch the Notebook over and over until the d…day I die. Anything that can g…get me crying I love.” Of course she was sure Nessa probably had a collection all her own that they could explore. In fact the brown haired teen was willing to bet that Nessa probably had lots of the same movies as her. They wouldn’t even have to start thinking about Aubree’s own substantial collection of chick flicks for a while if that was the case.

--------

Nessa waited in anticipation for Aubree's reaction. Maybe now she didn't want to go because it would be so terrible. But Aubree didn't seem like the kind of person to give up. Sure she was shy, but if she was going to give up, they probably wouldn't have started talking in the first place. So she held her breath and was relieved when Aubree was even more shocked, but showed no indication of bolting.

Nessa chuckled a bit at her joke, but knew she'd been close to absolutely losing it a couple times in the past. When the four of them are at their best, it's like the perfect storm, the triplets doing their best to destroy everything and Wally picking up the rear to tattle on Nessa's every move he might deem unsatisfactory. Wally she could contain, but the youngsters... they were something else and Nessa was never the athletic type to keep up.

"W-well, actually they didn't intend for it to work out this way, I don't think," she smiled a bit and could remember Felicity's face the day she came home and announced it was triplets... and boys. Not that Felicity didn't want boys, but she had seemed to have a much easier time with Nessa than with Wally. Nessa behaved while Wally... Wally tried to emulate his father, failed miserably, and always seemed to be giving his sister grief.

Still, it was going to be much easier-going with Aubree there... she hoped. It was true, girl power and all that. The Spice Girls seemed to think they should be able to do anything if they wanted to, and who was she to deny them. With company in the house, her mother did whatever she could to keep the boys in line, and the triplets knew that typically, the punishment was much worse when they acted out against guests. Not that she didn't trust her brothers to push any and all boundaries.

Nessa adopted a girlish grin at the mention of the name Nicholas Sparks. Brothers forgotten, she was whisked away into the world of true love and happily ever afters. "Do you like A Walk To Remember?" she asked, eyes wide in a hopeful gaze. "I-I know it's the saddest movie ever, but I can't h-help it. It's too s-sweet." Of all the movies in their collection, that had to be one of her favorites. She might be biased, though, she did admit, because she just adored Mandy Moore. Once, she tried to dye her hair brown and hijacked all her mother's make-up in a doomed attempt to emulate the pop star. When it didn't work, and Felicity scolded her for taking her entire cosmetics cabinet, Nessa was upset for weeks. One day, she thought, she'd look so pretty like Mandy Moore.

"But, if that's t-too sad," she started, coming out of her haze, "we have a ton more. It's so big, I c-can't even remember more than the first row of my section." Movies were serious business at the Summers household, if only because Felicity would never give up a single title.

<br>
<br><br>Aubree nodded as Nessa explained that her parents might not have intended to have so many children and the brown haired girl thought she could see why. Five kids just seemed like such a large number no matter if they were boys are girls. Even the Moore’s with their large beach side estate would have had a full house with five kids and knowing her parents her mom would have probably gone crazy by now. “Well…” Bree began as she tried to give voice to some of her thoughts. “That is a lot of kids but you have to give your parents credit though…They have to be pretty strong willed you know.” If anything Nessa’s parents must have had nerves of steel at the very least. Heaven knows she wouldn’t be able to handle it.
<br><br>
“I’m g…glad mom and dad stuck with just two. One brother is enough for me. A sister might be fun but I guess I’ll never know now.” Aubree had often thought about what it would be like to have a sister but had usually passed it off. Her parents were through having children and that was fine with her. Still, it might be interesting just because she didn’t know what it was like. Then again maybe she and Nessa could become like sisters. That would be pretty close in any case and they would get all the benefits of being able to talk and hang out with each other without having to deal with the draw backs like the fights that she was sure would occur.
<br><br>
They walked on for a few more steps Aubree listening as her new found friend talked about movies but at the mention of A Walk to Remember she practically squealed with delight. She absolute loved Nicholas Sparks movies but that one stuck out in her mind as one of the sweetest. What was more wonderful than true love that remained strong through the most tragic situations in life? She was hard pressed to think of a better movie to start off a friendship.
<br><br>
“oooooh That’s one of your favorites too?! I love that movie.” She said excitedly. She didn’t know why it should surprise her that they shared another common thread but it did. Perhaps it was the fact that she had been so long without any close friends and sudden here one was. In any case meeting Nessa was turning out to be the best thing ever. “It’s way sad but that’s what makes it such a good movie. We’ll just have to make sure we get lots of tissues for the ending.” It was for certain now. After bonding over a movie like A Walk to Remember there was no way that they couldn’t be BFFs.
<br><br>
Coming down from her excited high Bree turned her attention to another question she had been meaning to ask since they left the party. “D…do you think your mom m…might watch some of it with us? She sounds really cool.” The brown haired girl wasn’t sure what Nessa’s opinion was of her mother but the two seemed pretty close. She had never really thought about hanging out with Mrs. Summers before but if she was anything like Nessa then she thought they would all get along. To be honest she was kind of looking forward to seeing the art teacher and getting to know her a little better now that she had met Nessa.

--------

Nessa nodded and gave a big smile at Aubree's comments. It was true, it almost seemed like there was no one in the world mentally stronger than her parents. Sure, there were points when the triplets were still just babies that Nessa thought her mom might lose it, even in their pre-coherent infancy the boys acted in perfect sync, but as a whole, Felicity and Seamus seemed to adapt quite well to the cards they'd been dealt. "Mom's pretty much the strongest ever. If it were me," she began, scrunching up her nose a bit, "I would have dropped the little monsters off at the zoo a long time ago."

At that, Nessa clapped her hands to her mouth and her eyes grew a little panicked. She was getting comfortable now, talking to Aubree, the not-so-scary new friend, and she let her thoughts just come out, willy-nilly. What was she thinking, she thought, wondering if now Aubree thought she was a terrible person. It was, of course, the truth. Nessa could remember going to the zoo when the triplets were just a tad bit younger and asking if they couldn't just put them in the pen with the monkeys. No one would notice the difference, she insisted, but alas, her parents denied her request. Still, she shouldn't say such things, not when she just met Aubree and wanted her not to think she was a crazy mean person. Maybe, though, since Aubree had a brother, too, she'd understand. It certainly seemed like she suffered similar brother-related tragedies.

Nessa calmed down a little and nodded, glancing over when Aubree said she'd wondered what it was like to have a sister instead. She'd had similar thoughts four times over growing up with her brothers. What would it have been like if the triplets had been girls instead. Maybe they'd have had tea parties and gone to tiny toy ballet shows instead of terror-proofing the house in anticipation of their antics.

"I wonder, too," Nessa said, shaking her head, "but Mom's done having babies, and I don't blame her. Imagine, another Wally! Or what if it's twins!" The thought alone was enough to bring a couple tears to the surface. Nessa would just die if her mother had even one more boy. Luckily, though, friends were different. Maybe Aubree and Nessa could be close one day, and then it'd be like having a sister. Friends didn't tie your shoes together on your feet or push you into ponds filled with ducks or rat you out with horribly exaggerated information when you were just trying (failing miserably) to say hello to that cute boy in your class. Yes, a faux sister would do just fine at this point.

With that in mind, Nessa was elated, to hear that Aubree loved her favorite movie, too. She nodded excitedly and almost giggled with delight, "Oh, I know! They're so in love and even when she's gone, he still loves her, doesn't forget her." At that, Nessa did let out a tiny squeal, face going bright red. "O-o-oh gosh, I'm sorry. I-I sound so s-silly." Nessa could kick herself, she was going to blow it, and Aubree was going to think she was lame or something.

She didn't have time to be embarassed long, though. They were coming up on Nessa's house now, she didn't even notice they were so close. She nodded when Aubree asked if her mom would watch, too, and motioned to stop. "Yeah, Mom always likes watching movies with me, she'll watch for sure!" she was smiling again, and she pointed to the house they were stopped in front of, starting again toward the house. "She can even pick the next one if we watch another, she knows all the ones we have. This is it, by the way. W-we're here." It wasn't huge, but the house was big enough. Enough to house 7 people at least moderately comfortable, at least. She wondered what Aubree was thinking, but decided to not dwell on it and just get the worst out of the way, rip the bandage off quick and go see her parents... and four brothers... Oh jeez... I'm doomed.

She led Aubree to the door and tried the handle. Her mother had left it unlocked for her, so she turned back, smiled and shuffled inside, closing the door behind them. Now that they were here, Nessa was growing increasingly nervous. So much disaster was possible in just the span of five minutes in the Summers household, and the disasters Nessa had already experienced were only the tip of the iceberg. "Ma!" she called, taking a few steps through the hall toward the living room. "I'm home!"

This was it. The moment of truth.

<br>Aubree Moore
<br>Time: 9:00 pm
<br>Mood: Nervous, Excited, Happy
<br>TAG: Nessa Summers
<br>

<br>
<br><br>Upon hearing Nessa’s comment Aubree giggled. The thought of three little boys running around in a zoo with all the monkeys and other wild animals was pretty humorous. She had to admit that there were times when she wished her own brother would have gone back to the zoo because surely that was where their parents had gotten him from. All boys seemed to act like monkeys at some point or another and it was a wonder that any of them survived to reach adulthood at all.
<br><br>
“Boys, especially the young ones, can be pretty weird.” She said smiling. Nessa’s statement didn’t really strike her as odd so she barely noticed the girl’s embarrassment. If she had she probably would have freaked out thinking that she had done something wrong to cause Nessa to have that reaction. As it was it probably was a good thing she didn’t notice the embarrassment and was instead distracted by how humorous the situation was.
<br><br>
“Yeah I think your parents have tempted fate enough.” Aubree said with a nod. “Having triplets may have been a sign to stop.” Who knew, studies showed that once a woman had twins are triplets they were much more likely to have more and besides the older someone got that increased the chance too. If they tried again they might end up with another set of three or more and then Nessa really would be in trouble. The brown haired teen imagined Mrs. Summers really would go crazy too.
<br><br>
Glancing over in Nessa’s direction as she apologized she finally noticed her new found friend’s nervousness. “Oh no!” She said taking up Nessa’s hand. If anyone could understand where Nessa was coming from it was Aubree and she didn’t want Nessa feeling out of place at all just because she got so excited and gussy over a good love scene. “There’s no need to apologize. Clyde…he thinks I’m pretty silly for gushing over romantic movies too but I can’t help it. Some people just don’t understand how good they are.”
<br><br>
As they approached the house an overwhelming sense of dread came over Aubree causing her to go quiet again. Smiling and laughing and having fun with Nessa was all well and good when everything seemed so far away but as soon as the house was in view and the pair began to slow all those old nervous habits and old fears began to creep back into her mind. Would Nessa’s parents like her, would the brothers be mean, what if Nessa decides I’m boring and tells me to leave and many more. She tried desperately to push all the fears away but old habits die hard and soon Aubree was practically shaking with nervousness. She tried to tell herself that it was going to be okay but that didn’t help either. Only the knowledge that she couldn’t back out now kept her going.
<br><br>
The brown haired girl waited anxiously, not saying a word as Nessa walked up and tried the door and then moved to follow her hesitantly. She listened as her friend called into the house but in her ears the words sounded slow and grabbled. Everything seemed like it was moving in slow motion and here she was, powerless to make things go any faster. There were just so many possible ways this evening could end and right now Bree couldn’t think of a single good one.
<br><br>
Glancing around at the front of the house as Nessa opened the door Aubree thought that she saw three quick flashes of red duck behind an open second story window but she decided to pass it off as nothing. It could have just been a trick of the light after all and she wasn’t used to dealing with the three demon triplets from hell anyways. This would prove to be a fatal mistake though as having those few seconds of warning might have stopped what happened next. Instead she was suddenly surprised as a hail of fist sized water balloons began raining down on Nessa from above. Had she not been so hesitant in her approach she probably would have been soaked too but as it was she could only watch in horror as her friend was drenched from head to toe. Aubree had just enough time to glance up at the window and see the three maniacal little demon spawn chuckling as they emptied the last balloon from a large bucket before they quickly ducked back inside. ’So those must be the triplets…’ This was definitely going to be a long evening.

--------

Splash!!

As the balloons broke on top of Nessa’s head, they had surprisingly good aim for a couple of toddlers, her whole body shook and her eye twitched and she forgot about everything except utter rage at the triplets. She could think of about twenty reasons right now as to why she was going to run upstairs and murder those little demons. One, she was cold, two she was cold, and three, she had a friend right there next to her. Oh my gosh! She whipped around and looked Aubree up and down, checking to see if she was a victim, too. ”Oh my gosh, Aubree a-are you o-okay!” Oh, this was so embarrassing. Maybe this wasn't such a great idea after all...

”Nessa, what happened to you?” she turned around, again, to find Wally tromping down the stairs toward her, likely to “scold” her for showing up soaking wet. It never stopped, she thought, letting out a weary groan. ”Where the heck have you been anyw--- Ohhhh... that’s why the water was running upstairs for so long.” He took a sidelong glance up toward the triplets’ room, realization dawning on his face.

With an admission of guilt as to his involvement by uninvolvement she didn't even hesitate before taking a step toward him, leering at him so hard she thought her eyelids might burn off, and grabbed his ear in her hand. ”And you just let them continue?” she squealed, water dripping from her hair, and the rest of her, onto the floor. ”Wally, how stupid are you?” Now that she was at home, and completely livid, she was in what was unfortunately her comfort zone. Regardless of a new friend standing there in the doorway, Nessa wasn't even nervous at all as she pulled her brother into the living room, stopping in front of her parents sitting on the couch, huffing and puffing like she just ran a marathon. This demon spawn knew what those,” she jabbed her finger furiously into the air, ”demon spawn were doing, and he didn't stop them, and now look at me, and my friend was here and she got wet, too, and they’re probably somehow hiding in the walls by now, and we were going to watch a movie and I just want them to leave me alone and why aren't they locked up in a cage yet and please tell Wally to mind his own business forever!”

While it wasn’t the most eloquent speech, and her voice retained that glorious teenage girl whine throughout her rapid monologue, she had obviously made her point. Wally slapped her hand away and sulked off quicker than a bat out of hell back up the stairs, giving Aubree a confused glance on his way up, before their parents had a chance to even open their mouths, leaving Nessa there to seethe in the spotlight, that is before she remembered she had left Aubree standing there all by herself... alone... unguarded...

EEP!

Her eyes widened and as Nessa ducked back the way she came, Felicity sighed and looked to her husband, tired, but humored smile on her face. How she had hoped they could just relax, just for one night. ”So... you wanna take this one or should I?”

Nessa rushed back to the front, hoping that those nasty little imps didn't sneak down and start torturing her new friend. That was the sort of thing that made people not want to come back, not be your friend. Oh, she just knew this was a bad idea. ”Aubree, I-I-I’m so s-sorry!” she cried, sloshing water up and down the hallway. ”A-are you o-okay?” She buried her face in her hands, pulling them away when she remembered how soaking wet she was. She was sure now that Aubree was going to turn right around and go home. She so hoped it wasn’t the case, but how could she not, not after what she was greeted to in her first thirty seconds at the front door, and then being left to just stand there confused someplace she’d never been before while she went and tattled on her brothers. They hadn’t even made it into the house and already it was a total disaster, the triplets doing something bad, Wally totally knowing the whole time and not even realizing the warning signs when they slapped him in the face! How she had managed to live this far was a miracle.

”They won’t bother us anymore, though. Mom will make them behave.” She nodded and forced herself to believe that her parents could contain the madness. That is, if Aubree wasn’t going to turn around and run like mad in any direction that was away.

<br>
<br><br>Pandemonium reigned. That was the only thing Aubree could think of as she watched the scene slowly unfold before her eyes. It had started with the triplets and their mean prank. Poor Nessa, poor, poor Nessa. She was drenched. How did the little brats even turn that basket over? She guessed since there were three of them it was easier but still it was quite an impressive feet to say the least. They must have been really strong but then again she had heard about Nessa’s father so that wasn’t really surprising.
<br><br>
So distracted had Aubree been watching her friend and the chuckling brothers above her that she hardly even noticed the few splashes of water that got on her own clothes. Certainly by comparison she had nothing to complain about unlike Nessa. In any case she would go on not noticing her own state because as soon as the triplets were out of the window, no doubt off to hide somewhere, there was some new catastrophe unfolding in front of her.
<br><br>
There was Wally and then there was yelling and stomping and more yelling and she felt so bad for poor Nessa. It was all Aubree could do just to stand there and watch as the pink haired girl drug her brother over to her parents and proceeded to explain the whole mess to them. She couldn’t really blame her either if Clyde ever tried something like that you might as well dig her a grave because she would just die on the spot. With Aubree’s luck he would try it in the middle of school with everyone watching ensuring that she would receive the maximum amount of embarrassment.
<br><br>
As Aubree continued to watch the scene unfold Nessa’s father looked to his wife and let out a tired sigh. “You get Nessa cleaned up.” He said, his deep voice rumbling clearly across the room. “I’ll grab the wee ones.” With that he gave his wife a kiss on the check and pushed himself up off the couch with a grunt. Giving Nessa a concerned but understanding look he turned and began moving up the staircase each step groaning and creaking under his massive size. “BOYS!” He yelled and then disappeared upstairs to the sound of much scuffling.
<br><br>
Watching him go Aubree had a moment to think about just how big Nessa’s dad actually was. He was huge, giant like even. Aubree’s father was pretty tall but Seamus was more than that. He was like a mountain. How could her brothers ever think about acting up when they knew they were going to have to face consequences like that? If it would have been her she would have been too busy shaking in her shoes to ever act up of course that being said he was Nessa’s father so he was probably nice right?
<br><br>
In any case the brown haired girl didn’t have long to think about it as before she knew it Nessa was rushing back over to check on her. Due to her surprise of the last few minutes she at first didn’t even realize what her friend was saying but slowly as the words began to sink in Aubree came back to reality and gave a slow, cautious nod. “I’m f…fine Nessa. I didn’t even get t…that wet.” For the first time since everything had happened Aubree turned her attention on herself and noticed that, aside for a few splashes that she was sure would dry quickly, she had missed the large portion of the water balloon drenching. She guessed that it had all been meant for Nessa to begin with.
<br><br>
Eye’s widening in horror as she looked at poor Nessa, Bree’s toughts immediately turned to her friend though. “B…but Nessa…are you okay? All those balloons and then…you’re all wet and…oh gosh they didn’t do this just b…because I was c…coming over did they?” A brief moment of frightened nervousness crossed her mind as the thought occurred to her that maybe the brothers were just acting out because of her and then it quickly passed as rationality set in. The brothers couldn’t have known she was coming and if they did then she would probably have been an immediate target of their prank just like Nessa.
<br><br>
“N…Nessa I’m so s…sorry.” She stammered hoping that her new friend wouldn’t take this as a bad omen of things to come and kick her out on the street. This is the closest she had ever been to having a real friend and she didn’t want all that to be spoiled by the schemes of three little red haired boys. Aubree frantically searched for some way to get everything set back on track and finally she said the first thing that popped into her mind. “D…don’t be mad. We can still have fun after you get dried off. N…no reason to let this ruin our night.” She hoped this wouldn’t spoil their evening because Aubree still wanted to be here despite everything that had happened but she just didn’t know how Nessa would react. She would just have to keep her fingers crossed on this one.

Oh god, it was all over for her new-found friendship, wasn't it? She shivered some and looked behind her as her father marched up the stairs to wrangle the young'uns and, Nessa hoped with all her heart, send them back to whatever horrible planet of demon imps they came from. But when Aubree spoke up, she snapped her head back and tried not to sob tears of happy joy. She wasn't going to run away after all! Nessa shook her head feverishly, "No no, they would have done it anyway, b-because they're terrible imps!" It certainly wasn't Aubree's fault that her brothers were imbued with the essence of pure mischief when they were born. "I'm so sorry! Come in, and you can borrow some d-dry clothes since they splashed you." And then maybe they could still watch a movie, if she could kick her parents out of the living room and manage to keep Wally away. It'd been so long since she had a friend, this just had to work out.

She began to turn and yell for Felicity when she accidentally ran into her mother as the mamma red head herself approached the two, large fluffy towel in hand, and began to rub her daughter's head dry. "Oof. Maaaa!" Felicity smiled over Nessa to Aubree, complaints going unheeded as she tended to her baby girl. "Good evening, Aubree. It's good to see you. I hope this prank didn't get you, too."

Nessa wasn't even listening as her hair was mussed up and dried off in the most embarrassing way possible. She would have tried to fight it, but she knew her mother would win. Somehow it was like just being married to Seamus Summers magically made Felicity physically ten times stronger. Or maybe it was carrying three unruly demon spawn in her belly for all that time. That had to attribute to something. So, instead Nessa settled for just letting out a low, constant whine as her mother greeted her former student. "Maaaaaaaaaaaa."

Felicity shook her head and finished assaulting Nessa's head before pulling Aubree into the hall and leading them both toward the bathroom in true mother hen fashion. "Hush, Nessa, you're sopping wet, come on upstairs and we'll get dry clothes. Are you girls hungry? Nessa, you said you wanted to watch a movie, I'll make pizza and I think we have a little more sherbet in the freezer." Felicity smiled at the two and nodded to Nessa to stay put near the bathroom while she went and gathered extra clothing.

As soon as her mother was up the stairs going to her room, Nessa turned to Aubree, face bright red with embarrassment. If it wasn't one thing for the girl, it was certainly another. Her mother rarely coddled her like this, but then, she'd never actually brought a friend home. "S-s-so, um, what movie s-should we watch?" Nessa felt like she should at least try to muster up a conversation, any conversation at all, and maybe take some of the attention away from the horror she just had to endure.

<br>
<br><br>“It’s f…fine Nessa. I really will be okay.” Aubree felt relieved that Nessa wasn’t holding this incident against her. She knew that the pink haired girl was probably embarrassed to no end as she would have been mortified if something like this had happened to her. It was also a possibility that Nessa was kicking herself for inviting someone over when something like was going to happen. Truthfully she was just happy that she hadn’t been told to leave yet and planned to stick around for Nessa as long as she wasn’t.
<br><br>
Smiling embarrassedly up at Nessa’s mom as she dried the girl’s hair Aubree took in a deep breath and prepared for the most terrifying point of the evening. Facing down the pranks of horrible little triplets paled in comparison with what she had to do next for now she had to do that one thing that she was absolutely terrible at, now she had to talk and to Nessa’s mom no less. Granted she hadn’t expected her father to be so large and that was pretty intimidating but Nessa’s mom was her teacher and that was an entirely different situation.
<br><br>
“H…h…hi Mrs. S…Summers. It’s g…good to s…see you to.” Bree said in a tiny voice as she struggled to keep from shaking like a leaf in a strong wind. She wanted to make a good impression not only because this was her friend’s mom but also because it never hurt to win your teachers over to your side. She knew that Nessa had said Felicity liked her but you just never could be too sure. “I’m f…f…fine. I’m more worried about N…Nessa.”
<br><br>
Watching as Felicity finished with Nessa’s wet hair Aubree found herself relaxing a bit. This wasn’t so bad and even though Nessa would probably want to come over to her house next time and every other time after that she didn’t think that this bit of excitement had spoiled anything between them. In fact, she was still looking forward too the rest of the activities they had planned for the evening and when Nessa’s mom began to talk about pizza and sherbet as they headed towards the bathroom things seemed to be getting even better.
<br><br>
“T…that sounds g…great Mrs. S…S…Summers.” The brunette teen said as she found a spot to sit as they waited for Nessa’s mom to return with clothes. As the older redhead left the room a huge weight felt as if it had been lifted off of Aubree’s shoulders and she breathed a long sigh of relief. With just the two of them she could relax which was saying something since Bree had never really been able to relax around anyone except for her parents. “How about ‘A Walk to Remember’? We were already t…talking about it some and it’s kind of still stuck in my head. Besides it might help us to g…get our minds off everything…” As she said this the bellowing sound of ”BOYS!!!!” came from upstairs followed quickly by the sound of several pairs of small, scuffling feet.
