Well now this was an exciting turn of events. Alison hurried along the path to Agate Acres in excitement. In her arms she carried a basket and in her mind she had a mission. A new person settling down on the island was a fairly common occurrence now days. Obsidian was an up and coming little island and it seemed like visitors looking for a home often ended up etching out a place for themselves in the community. However, new farmers arriving on the island was another story entirely, one which the cheery redhead had no intention of letting go unheralded.

She supposed being the person who welcomed the new farmers to the island wasn’t an official position but being a farmer and business owner herself Alison felt a fondness for new arrivals taking up the trade. It hadn’t been too many years ago when she had been a new arrival on the island herself and she wanted to be the first to welcome the new comers and speed them along to a good start to their life here.

Thinking back on her own arrival Alison could remember how difficult it was to get started as well. Most of that had been due to the fact that she had come in the middle of winter of course but she thought that it was her duty to let people in a similar situation know that they weren’t alone. Besides, there was no harm in the farmers of the island sticking together and helping each other out. Each farm seemed to find its own little nitch to fall into and it wasn’t like they were really competing with each. It was the decent, neighborly thing do.

For an added bonus Alison would get to meet some new people. As a very social person she enjoyed each and every opportunity to make new friends. She didn’t know if the people who had taken over the new farm were friendly, in fact she really didn’t know that much about them at all but who could turn down a welcome basket full of goodies at their door? If the new comers were thankful for her hospitality then all the better. She could go home feeling like she had accomplished her good deed for the day.

As she approached the farm house Alison stopped and glanced up and the name of the farm. ’Olympia Villa? Huh, I wonder what inspired it?’ She thought as she continued along the path. Her own farm and the brewery, Summer Meadows, had been inspired by her own name but that might mean nothing in this case. Many of the farm names on the island were quite original and weren’t limited to a play off the farmer’s name. She would be interested in learning the story behind this choice of name if they got to talking about it.

When she reached the door to the farm house Alison paused for a moment. She hoped that whoever lived here was home. She hadn’t planned for that alternative but supposed she could leave her basket there on the doorstep if it was necessary surely no one would disturb it around here. Obsidian wasn’t really known for its high crime rate.

Finally she gave the door a few resounding knocks and called into the house “Hello anyone home?” Then she stood by patiently waiting for a response. She hoped she wasn’t interrupting anything if they were home but if she was it wouldn’t take long to drop off the gift and be on her way.
